I know your comment is four years old, but after Spider-Man: No Way Home, I've been on a massive Ultimate Marvel binge after re-reading all of Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter Parker (I read them in high school and a little bit into college), and there is NO reason The Blob is a cannibal. When the blob is introduced into Ultimate X-Men, he's a fucking regular ass mutant and while evil, he had a daughter with a human woman (the Ultimate universe's version of Firestar, Liz Allen, who was Pete's romance in Spider-Man Homecoming). But for some reason after Jeph Loeb took over the Ultimates book, The Blob became a monster mash character who was a cannibal, with zero justification why.

Re-reading Ultimate Spider-Man, BMB basically ignores Ultimatum beyond anything that messes with continuity (like, thanks to Magneto, all mutants now being "kill on sight", so Kitty Pryde has to use a secret identity when she interacts with Peter).

The best part of Ultimatum is that it meant this video could happen. Ultimatum happened so Sal could cite a legitimately amazing comic (X-Factor #87) set in a different universe about a better Quicksilver.
The Ultimate Universe is good, but for me what ultimately really worked for me was the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. I'm sorry but to this day I still stand by Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films, except for three but that wasn't his fault at all. Raimi admitted that he was never the comic book guy and that it was his brother, who did the majority of the writing for the films, and that he wanted to make Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and not just go completely based off of the comics and honestly the first two worked and they were meant to be campy in a way.
Yeah I agree 100%. Although Sam Raimi has stated he enjoys comics including Spiderman but you are correct that his brother was more of a comic guy. Fun fact I believe Sam Raimi read Ultimate Spiderman and liked it so much that he took influence from it for the first Spiderman film.
I love the Raimi Spider-Man movies, even Spider-Man 3. In my opinion, I think that they are some of the best super hero movies ever and are better than the other Spider-Man movies.

Yeah, you're right. It was pretty messed up. In fact, most of his actions in the story were ridiculous. I guess you can say that for everyone involved though.
I finally read Ultimatum this morning. I'd seen this episode of Back Issues before, so my expectations were set low. Despite low expectations, I was still floored by how bad it was. Honestly my take on this event was that marvels editorial team thought that the 1610 was becoming too much like the original(even though it wasnt but let's be honest its marvel editorial staff we're talking about) and thought "oh man if we kill a whole bunch of big name characters from the main universe the ultimate universe will be SO TOTES DIFFERENT"(Yes I think of their editorial team as teenagers who dont know what the fuck their talking about). Then that killed their sales because EVERYONE ANYONE CARED ABOUT WAS DEAD BESIDES SPIDERMAN.
Get off the Spider-Man crying bit. Spider-Man 3 was the only movie where he cried too much. He never cries in part 2, and in part 1 his uncle died. You're allowed to cry when your uncle dies.
the ultimatum run of the comic book crossover was most definitely the most polarizing run in the ultimate universe and to some the end of it. However the massive superhero death tole significantly changed the ultimate universe from just a copy of earth 616 with edgier characters and a new backstory , to a completely new feeling universe with many of the well known and loved Old Guard characters dead and gone. This void then had to be filled in by many new or unpopular characters. It was most definitely a boon to creativity. This to me is the legacy of ultimatum. It was a crossover that truly shook up a universe and left many deep voids that had to be filled by other characters.
you guys should do ultimates requiem(hard to find any online comic to see if it's worth buying but it sounds really intresting especially since i heard they found peter in the rubble somewhere)

Ok I haven`t watched the full video yet but the part when magneto creates the tidal waves after messing with the earths magnetic pull or what ever, would that piss off namor or any other ocean based hero/villain?
Great episode again guys! I suggested Ultimatum last time, so I thought I'd suggest something that wasn't garbage. So would you guys do the Batman Knightfall Trilogy? I'm almost finished reading it now and its such a great build up, and Bane is awesome (nobody writes him as well as his is in this), and I surprisingly like Jean-Paul as Batman. (Very 90's esc but acts as a what if Batman didn't hold back)
That's a good idea. We've been meaning to do Knightfall for awhile, actually! The only issue is Funnybooks only has Vol. 2 and 3, but not 1, so I'd need to bring in my old copies of Batman so they could see the gaps filled in.

Then that killed their sales because EVERYONE ANYONE CARED ABOUT WAS DEAD BESIDES SPIDERMAN.
He will understand and I'm in a Back Issues marathon
This made me a little sad
In brightest day, in blackest night no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship beware my power Green Lantern's light !
Will you guys ever do DC's "Justice" series? I thought it was pretty cool.
you guys should do ultimates requiem(hard to find any online comic to see if it's worth buying but it sounds really intresting especially since i heard they found peter in the rubble somewhere)
I like the back issues on bad stories better than the ones on good books
Please do
Marvel AXIS
Shadowland
Ultimates 3
DC Convergeance
Rise of the 3rd Army
Countdown
what was wrong with third army?
Why did the “over there” line remind me of Linkara?
Even Marvel understands that "over there" has to take care of itself xD
It say like this door ma moo
19:14 I love this choice 😂😅
I Remember reading this and hating it
Ok I haven`t watched the full video yet but the part when magneto creates the tidal waves after messing with the earths magnetic pull or what ever, would that piss off namor or any other ocean based hero/villain?
Who was that girl at the end of ultimatum?
Black Panther is Captain America in disguise in the Ultimate Universe.
Yeah Vol 1 is a must. If you really needed to get it, you could try Amazon, thats where I got mine from and each volume is under $20.
PlayForLOLs Funnybooks just ordered it ;) We've got it in the store right now. Deciding whether we should do it tonight or wait til next week...
Hera or Hela? Hela is the goddess of the dead in Norse mythology.
you should also do the children of tommor book for the ultimate comics as well
How did cyclops and ironman vaporize wolverine cyclops could have easily closed his eyes and ironmans repulsars are concussive they arent lethal also i understand magneto maniplulating the armor but how the hell did he activate the repulsars with magnetism?
