Cool. When you review series like Rick and Morty?
Any sign of an Andor review please

REVIEW THE GOTG HOLIDAY SPECIAL, YOU COWARD!!!!
Jeremy Jahns!! Can you please review the first episode of The Wingfeather Saga (I think it’s in Angel TV? 🤔 ) animated tv show? Pretty please ? 🙏
“I once saw him kill 3 men in a bar with a candy cane, a f*cking…Candy Cane”
"I'M THINKING I AM BACK"
Old Saint Wick
"Who does that?!? A f*cking Cundy CANE!"
@@uarthchylde "And then my son, a few days after his wife dies, you steal his sled, and killed his f*cking reindeer*
Brilliant 😂
A prequel that shows how a bloodsoaked viking warrior ended up as Santa Claus would be phenomenal. Can't explain TOO much, after all, he doesn't really know how the Christmas magic works... but just why he took up the role in the first place.
Like he meets a near dying of old age Thor at a tavern during Yule and somehow he inherits his position but during the film he starts to give presents to kids. Basically make it go from Viking stuff evolving into the traditions we know today.
There’s a comic book that is essentially that premise. It’s called KLAUS by writer Grant Morrison and artist Dan Mora.
Maybe it could be like the origin story in Santa’s Slay where he made a deal or something to become Santa and leave his old ways behind. That could be interesting
Agreed - You are our scriptwriter!
Yes to this, and keep the irreverent, almost slapstick violent vibe that made the whole thing work so well
"I'm down for a prequel or a sequel" that has to be some of the highest praise Jeremy has given
The sequel should be Santa vs Krampus
@@Tadicuslegion78 oh hell yeah
Kinda goes to show how his rating system has changed. "good time no alcohol required" used to feel like an "average" movie but now it feels like it actually is something amazing.
@@Tadicuslegion78 Holy fuck that'd be awesome, like an Alien or Aliens but with Santa instead of Ripley! lol
@@Tadicuslegion78WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!
Totally agree. He's not just some dude dressed as Santa. Even outside of the obvious magic and reindeer, despite being more jaded, he cares and wants the best for kids, telling Trudy not to swear and still having some form of hopefulness if not just for Trudy who is still young and not as damaged by the world. 12/10, would recommend.
His Santa is exactly what is needed these days. The light hearted whimsical Santa Claus' from other films wouldn't be able to handle how synical and jaded the world of 2022 has become. He felt more real and grounded while still magical
Honestly one of my favorite parts of the movie (SPOILERS) is when Leguizamo's crew has Santa and he gives them enough of a talking to that all of them get glimmers of second thoughts.
@@CouchSpud91 Yeah! That scene also has one of my favorite lines when they're considering he might be santa: "I know you're stupid, but don't be stupid out loud." This movie didn't just rely on shock value of having non-family aspects "corrupting" the family holiday. It was genuinely funny and had some incredible lines.
Agreed. I do like how he's also not just jaded to be edgy. You get the feeling that part of the reason why he's become so jaded is because it breaks his heart to see young kids who were at one point innocent, sweet kids get broken and corrupted by the world. When he's confronting the crew, he actually apologizes to the main guy when hearing how his love for Christmas was destroyed by his father being laid off and their family not being able to do things during the season anymore while he's much more confrontational with the other two who were just bratty kids.
@@parycartoons6840 That too! They also address something that Santa movies really don't. "If you were real and knew, why didn't you do something?" And Santa admits that his job is just the Christmas stuff. And it might come off callous like "that's not my job", but I think it's actually done well by instead saying that Christmas and Santa is a one time a year thing that is supposed to spark hope and being good and all that, but it's up to people and their character to keep it alive the rest of the year and throughout their lives. He's not there to fix all your problems like some hero. He's there to lift you up while he can so that you can pick yourself up in the future on your own.
Whoever thought of an idea of Santa Clause fighting bad guys is a goddamn genius.
Mel Gibson did it last year .
@@AverageJoe483 Rise of the Guardians did it 10 years ago. Pretty sure we can find even older examples too...
Yep, check out Fatman. Santa (Mel Gibson) and an assassin get into a gun fight.
@@kane0518 but not like this. Let’s be honest
@@RoninXDarknight that’s a great movie !
David Harbour as Santa Claus is the greatest casting choice of 2022!
He would have made a good Hellboy if he had a good script
What about Austin Butler as Elvis??
@@ariescarmona1784 God I forgot that movie came out this year
Sure, but not as good as Jared Leto as Morbius who truly Morbin' Time. Truly the casting of the year
Mel Gibson in fat man the best Santa though. 🎅
Saw this last night with a group of friends and it was fucking great. The Home Alone segment was fantastic. I wasn't really in the Christmas mood prior to yesterday, now I'm ready to put up my tree. Thanks Violent Night!
Same.
“First thing we did together as a family” scene got me rolling. I love how the trailers made it feel over the top, while the movie is actually restrained. There’s actual character development. It’s very heartfelt. The payoff for “you would never fit into that chimney” has the whole cinema screaming.
I loved that scene, because we the audience knew what the family was setting Brendan Fletcher up for, he was just too much of a psycho to see it.
There was a bit in the middle where David Harbour flipped the Hopper switch and was an absurdly charming Santa on a walkie talkie for ten minutes. It's was so heartfelt and sweet and completely out of place in this silly, vulgar, and violent movie. I feel like in a different timeline, he's just the best Santa of his generation in a family friendly Christmas movie. As is, I'd absolutely like to see another Violent Night. Giving him that ten minutes or so to be sweet with the kid made everything that happened afterwards completely justified and satisfying.
This movie feels like an instant Christmas classic. It's felt like over a decade that a Christmas movie actually feels like Christmas but this movie gave me a festive cheer that I depressingly lost years ago 🤣
Die Hard with Santa- actually I’m surprised no one ever pitched this idea during the 1990s.
I’m just glad Hollywood is starting with the “Die Hard meets/with ________” pitches, again. 😂
@@FacePunchMcGee have they done a die hard/ western yet ?
@@Venomsmash1206 Last Man Standing starring Bruce Willis.
I honestly expected this movie to be bad. Like I saw nothing about it. But when I went to see it I was blown away by how great this movie actually was, anytime it didn't work it went back to working really quickly. It's honestly one of the best Christmas movies and action movies I've seen in a while!
The entire movie felt like watching a Robot Chicken Christmas special. It was glorious.
Saw it last night and loved it. It reminded me of Ready or Not but with Santa Claus. The humor and the story were really well done too.
I fucking loved Ready Or Not! I didn’t even make the link you’re right. Plus the genuine “kid Santa movie” feel juxtaposed with the Die Hard violence really worked XD plus even the family was funny and useful it was a nice surprise XD
That’s high praise
Ready Or Not and Knives Out are very similar.
@@Zeet1 This movie is a blast. Again, it's just my opinion but it's definitely worth going and hopefully enjoying
Love it when Jeremy throws in some philosophical discussion
He might be deeper than the movie. lol
This movie had me giggling like a sadist for almost the entire runtime. I truly enjoyed it.
Ahh man I was so looking forward to hearing him say "no eggnog required" LOL
I thought it was pretty good. I like how they (mini spoiler alert) gave Santa some “Christmas magic” tricks and tools, but he was basically just a guy who ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time and decided to help save the little girl who still believed. They managed to avoid turning him into a Marvel-style superhero, which I appreciate.
The crew coming in at the end wasn’t just to stretch the runtime. It was a direct nod to Major Grant’s team in Die Hard 2. Can’t believe you didn’t catch that.
I saw a press screening of this the other day, and I loved every second of it! I love how they did more than just make a John Wick movie and throw Santa into it, the movie genuinely felt like a Christmas classic that hit all the right notes for being a great Christmas movie, but with gore and swearing. I had a smile on my face the whole time, even if for no other reason than the fact that this is a real movie. I think this is up there with classics like Die Hard, Krampus and Bad Santa for great holiday movies to watch when the little ones are downstairs watching Rudolph at the family gathering.
Im loving this like sub-genre of movies where Santa Clause himself is being “naughty” and drops some bodies. As long as they’re entertaining, keep em coming please! 🙌🏽
If you haven't seen it, check out "Santa's Slay". It stars WCW and WWE wrestler Bill Goldberg as a demonic Santa Claus, and they do not hide the fact that he is played by Goldberg. I admit I need to watch the full film myself, but what I have seen is gloriously ridiculous.
Fun Fact: There's a scene where Santa falls face first into a strippers crotch, and that Stripper was actually played by Goldberg's future wife. The film is how they met.
You can find plenty of videos of Santa Claus being "naughty" on certain websites
David Harbour being a badass Santa was something I didn't know I needed, and now I do!
This film was way better than I thought it was going to be, didn't see the trailer so had absolutely no idea what to expect going into it 8/10 for me.
I think David Harbour and the dude who voiced Santa in Rise of the Gaurdians are my go to bad ass yet heart warming and welcoming Santas. I think if they gave Harbour a Russian accent, he'd just be the ROTG Santa and that would've made this shit even more hype.
Alec Baldwin was 'North' in RotG
Nice to know that I'm not the only one who seems to think "Rise" deserved a bigger audience than it got.
@@sterling7 ROTG is so underrated!
@@rog2224 Alec’s Santa also has a confirmed kill
This was definitely better than I expected. I'm definitely down to for a prequel to see how a viking warrior becomes Santa.
I am so happy that rather than come up with the concept, pat selves on backs and churn out the simplest execution possible, they actually put some thought into it and did a lot with the idea. I went in cold, didn't know I was getting a die hard film with lots of home alone references, and 90s style action and christmas cheese and family-themed sentimen, made using technology available in the 90s and even some really creative music. Maybe I was just in the right mood for it, brain frazzled after a long day, but I had such a good time. David Harbour is David Huddleston with an edge. And the Chekhov's Candy Cane was such a great touch.
"Violent Night...hooooly shit"
That was all I needed to know to go watch this movie.
I have never gone from back and forth from laughing at horrific Christmas-themed violence to being choked up from heartfelt moments this many times in any other movie I've seen.
The movie was absolutely as good as this movie could be. Maybe better than it had a right to be. I hope we get a sequel, with Rudolph.
When I saw the trailer for "Violent Night" a few weeks ago, I wanted to watch it! My sister & I saw it this afternoon & we both loved it! David Harbour is perfect as the bad ass Santa we've needed. Definitely it's a mash up of "Die Hard" meets "Home Alone" & "Rambo". The relationship between Santa & the little girl Trudy is the heart of this tale & gives it the holiday spirit.
We need more badass fighter Santas like this and Rise of the Guardians.
I don't want to hear "But this isn't a Christmas movie, it's an action movie".
Now that this movie exists people can't say Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie, because this is basically Die Hard. It's just Santa Claus instead of McClane.
I wish they had built on Santa's back story more. If they made a full movie of how Nicomund the Red became Santa, I'd watch that film a million times.
Took my 15 and 10 year old to see it today, their first R Rated theatrical going. They both LOVED it. We all laughed, we all cried, and my eldest son and I were sucked in to the possibilities of the lore. Very VERY good. I felt like the length was just right, btw.
Violent or scary X-mas are my favorite thing about the season. As long as they keep making them this good and entertaining, I'm all for it. David Harbour was awesome and it's the first time I thought, yeah, this man can lead a movie by himself. One of the best Santa portrayals in like the last 2 decades. And this is my favorite X-mas movie since Krampus a few years back. So much fun.
So glad this is a fun flick. I saw the trailer couldn’t believe it and instantly wanted to watch it.
Just finished watching it today. I want more of this lore too. I love that they gave a warrior background to David Harbours character.
David Harbour is very quickly becoming one of my favorite actors of modern times, he's awesome in whatever silly role he lands in. :)
looks like its right in line with "Fatman" with Mel Gibson as Santa from a couple years ago, which was also brilliant!
Very underrated movie.
I had no idea Fatman existed and now its on my To Watch list. Thank you.
@@AlleluiaElizabeth cheers! Enjoy!
Diehard is the best Christmas movie ever!
David Harbour was badass in this and I agree I would totally love to see a prequel when he is in the battlefield crushing skulls that would be great 👍
I went into it thinking this was going to be some sort of horror or something different. I actually really liked it. It was very fun good action die hard and home alone is good description and it's a fun watch would definitely say go watch it and I love that they gave him a serious backstory. I didn't think it went too long. I was laughing so hard at the home alone part 🤣🤣🤣
Can't wait to watch! Santa has been a hero of mine since he brought me a Star Wars Light Saber!
We need this Santa versus Krampus!
Yes.
Loved Krampus
Maybe that will be in the sequel 3:30
My favourite Christmas movie of all time is (and yes I’m being serious) this Christmas movie. I’m in love with it 🤣 it had it all, the romance, the story, the references to other movies (Christmas ones and non Christmas ones)… never laughed so much at a film
Klaus still is my favorite Christmas movie
Thanks for another great review Jeremy, always a great day when you post
Just saw it an hour ago and I loved every minute of it. A great homage to Die Hard because damn its a Xmas movie. Always has been and always will be!
Glad to hear enjoyable response. I am excited to see this asap. David Harbour looks so cool here.
I thought John Wick, Equalizer, Nobody, but SantaClause and I was down for it.
Fun fact made by the same person that made nobody and John wick
Santa Claus, The Santa Clause is the Tim Allen movie about the "clause" that there must always be a Santa Claus and the person that puts on the coat upon the death of the previous Santa BECOMES Santa.
Had me at "Season's Beatings"
"Violent Night, Holy... $#%!" should totally have been the tag line on the poster 🤣
I so wanna see this! I enjoy many Christmas films, but all time favorites include A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, original Home Alone, Die Hard, Elf, Nightmare Before Christmas, and the Scrooged movie with Bill Murray.
I watched it yesterday and I think Violent Night might be my new favourite Christmas movie. It was bloody, wholesome, funny and all around a good time.
I have to say when I heard that this was from the same people that made "Nobody" I went and saw it the next day. I haven't laughed in a movie that much in forever! Can't wait to see it again!
Just saw this in Alta/Norway. The Director made sure to send his pre-movie regards for his home town opening night viewers. Appreciate you Tommy Wirkola! Going to watch this every christmas!
The Santa Clause/ Home Alone are tied for my favorite. So much nostalgia.
Love it, expand this into an R-rated Rise of the Guardians universe!
This was my favorite action-Christmas movie. Wasn’t expecting it to be so good!
We need something different this Christmas to teach is the true meaning.
THIS MOVIE PROVES IT! WELL DONE, JEREMY!
I was wondering when you would do this, almost mentioned this on your video from yesterday. Imma going to see this in a couple of hours and I am grateful for your opinion, thank you!
Just saw it and I got exactly what I wanted. A downright fun, action movie with creative kills and a brutal Santa. Plus, some heart, and fun villains.
Saw it last night. Tons of fun!
I can safely say this without spoiling it " I love Santa backstory and his meltdowns. I am going to see it again.
This looks absurdly fun. Reminds me of what the mock trailer at the beginning of Scrooged was kinda going for only with Lee Majors as the action hero rather than Santa Clause himself.
I saw this movie last night and loved it! Awesome action comedy movie!
One of the few trailers in a very long time to really get me interested in watching. Glad to hear it delivers. I will have to check this one out
It was me who scanned your ticket at the theater! Was nice meeting you man 👍
I love this movie. I really liked that they gave Santa a back story but I wished they showed how he actually became Santa and how he was introduced to the reindeer, elves and the North Pole
A delightful Christmas casserole of Home Alone, Die Hard Franchise, Bad Santa, and Krumpus. I was impressed by the score that gave it that final festive touch.
Honestly why is nobody talking about Krampus in this movie? He was hilarious.
Thanks for reminding me. I looked him up and it's Brendan Fletcher, the lead in Uwe Boll's Rampage series. He was such a delightfully sadistic baddie in Violent Night as well!
Awesome! So excited to hear your review of this one. I will definitely check it out
Thank You!! This was another great pick! I Loved it ❤
Merry Christmas Jeremy 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome movie! I agree the movie could had been 10 - 15 minutes shorter but when the action was happening it was insane! I need more!
Saw it!! I don’t know if I set my expectations low thinking it was gonna be a B movie, but damn it was SOLID AWESOME. By the end of the film, I was thinking to write a letter to Santa and be a good girl for next year 🎉😂
Miracle on 34th Street (1947) is my #1 movie. White Christmas (1954) is a close second. My wife and I are both very excited to see this movie but haven't yet gotten to the theaters to see it!
Love this movie, it’s now my second favorite Christmas movie next to Krampus.. I’d love to see a prequel to this like how does he go from killer to Santa
David Harbour just rocks as Santa. Great compliments to Die Hard & Home Alone but stands alone as a great Christmas action movie.
Honestly at this point I think I'd watch anything with David Harbour in it lol. He really has become one of my fave actors in recent years.
Fun Fact: John Leguizamo was in Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
That flashback to the 1100s and him as a Viking w/ Skullcrusher. I want a prequel so badly it hurts. The world building in this movie was brief and succinct but got me interested in learning more about his past.
Just saw “Violent Night” yesterday and it was a heck of a lot of fun.
“Die Hard” with a helping of “Bad Santa” and a sprinkling of “Home Alone”.
Just saw it last night and absolutely loved it. And one of the things I really liked about it was Santa didn't always feel like an invincible badass. Getting into some light spoilers here just so SPOILER ALERT!!
He got hurt, there were times when the bad guys got the best of him, and even a time where he had to be saved by Trudy distracting the bad guys. Really giving me John McClane vibes in the sense that he's not this unstoppable killing machine, he's just the only person that can help this family and this little girl. Really great touch that I think is getting overlooked.
Thank you so much for the review! I’ve got to check this out!
It sounds like a film that might grow on the viewer over time.
Thanks to your sponsor spot...I ended up going with ProtonVPN instead of NordVPN. :)
Loved it. Audience was laughing and enjoying it.
The girls Home Alone scene was so great too.
Had a blast with this movie, I hope we see more and I’m dying to see if they’d bring in Mrs. Clause 😂 who would they cast?
Winona Ryder
I just came back from watching Violet Night and I had a Blast! that montage of Santa Clause half ass-ing his yearly rounds is relatable.
I love that John Leguizamo is still getting work. He’s never a let down.
They could easily set up a prequel how he meets Mrs Claus and how she helps him turn good ish
Yeah, I really wanted to know HOW he became Santa.
@@nightmarefanatic1819 I got the feeling he was cursed by the gods to live forever and decided to use it to make up for his greed with generosity.
I watched it last night and had a seriously blast was fun and violent truly an amazing Christmas movie for the ages
Thank you for this review. i actually am going to go watch it now and i was feeling a bit sad that there were no just fun movies this week
Just watched this. Surprisingly decent.
When Santa is kicking ass, it’s fantastic. But there’s too much downtime that it can get boring at times. The family / hostage scenes are just really not engaging. Two people fell asleep in the cinema. I was sat in between two sleeping people at the same time, I’ve never experienced that before.
Still, the action is perfect. The entire final act is peak, amazing and worth watching just for that. It has the Christmas spirit too. May have shed a tear.
Tis the Season
Low-key one of the best Christmas films ever made
Krampus?
I am looking forward to seeing this. That bit with the gernade and Santa breaking the fourth wall. that scene is enough to get me in the theater. Favorite Christmas movie. Diehard 2 then 1.
Just got done watching it, and as always immediately log into yt to decompress (your videos being high on that list). Yeah, definitely getting those Die Hard and Home Alone vibes, but also there was a point where I got a gremlins-esque chill. The shot where Santa falls down the roof remimding me of that weird Santa movie Mr. Futterman was watching right before gremlins run him through with his own plow.
Definitely a nice watch, should have seen it in the theatres but hopefully they do a sequel 'Violent Night 2: Deathwish.
I loved it. It was the most fun adult Christmas movie I had seen in decades. As you say Die Hard and Home Alone merged on the screen. Who knew Santa had a dark side? LoL And there is a little romance thrown in two with the girl's parents. Something for everyone over old enough to go to an R movie. Some fun stuff too.
To me it felt like a combination of Santa’s Slay, Die Hard and Home Alone all rolled into one. It was great honestly
A Christmas movie based on Die Hard… so… it’s Die Hard? 😂 can’t wait to see this.
It really is Die Hard. But instead of McClain.... ITs fucking Santa.. awesome movie..
You gotta do Andor it's right up your alley I'm surprised you haven't reviewed it yet
Hey Jeremy, not related to the video, but will you review Andor anytime soon? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.
I love that David Harbour is Santa Claus
