I'd drive a regular automatic but not their cvt transmission. One thing I disagree with their HRV is the fact the they don't sell the awd in manual version and I refuse to drive a cvt.
I like the idea of the break assist BUT rolling back was the fun part especially when you pull off an the car would buck as you changed gears. I miss the old school stuff LOL
This video was a great help! I've had an eye on a 2016 at my local dealer, and now I'm even more excited at the possibility of owning a new car. Thanks for the great work!
Why is this not even an option on the AWD Top of the Line? Feels way degrading to offer it as a "EL CHEAPO" option.... Manuals should not denote its cheaper than the CVT as if the CVT was better.... Transmissions should be a buyers choice not a locked out option to denote that you are buying the cheapest version.
i agree, but on the American/Canadian market, ppl buy less stick shifts, so its easier for Honda to offer the options as they are. i don't like it, i agree. There should be a stick shift AWD.
Thanks for this video, Ed!!✌✌ I've been wanting to see if Honda had any SUVS for manual. I wish they would bring back the manual for the CR-V. That would be super cool. Have a good one😊😊
This is a bit confusing. The brake hold and the hill start assist are separate features. Even if brake hold is turned off, hill start assist detects when the car is on a slope and automatically provides a second or two of brake while you switch your foot from clutch to accelerator. With brake hold turned on, the brake holds every time you stop.
I would love to see the civic with that Brake hold and Hill start assist. I live in socal where traffic is horrendous and is the main reason I have yet to want to get a car that is manual. But I desperately want to learn and drive a manual and it would make much more sense where I live to have those features. Of course enthusiasts would argue sacrilege lol. Thanks for the video Edward
+Joshua Bradley Thanks Honda for inventing the "brake hold" aka THE PARKING BRAKE. Great, more electronics/complication/weight added to a vehicle for no reason.
This is the exact car I want...a manual shift HR-V in White (or maybe Green). Had a Green Honda Civic 5-speed which I bought brand new in 1992, and sold it in 2012 when it was 20 years old with less than 60,000 miles and it still ran like new. Never had ONE problem with that car (other than me wrecking it, minor damage a few times) and never tired of going on a drive and being able to run through the gears.
Hopefully they come out with a k24z engine for the HR-V, and if they do i wouldn't hesitate to get one. i'm currently waiting 4 more months till i could go pick up a honda civic si coupe. i had a 2013 civic si sedan, but i got rear ended. once it got fixed i ended up selling it to a friend, so i'm currently on a honda cbr 600rr bike in till i get the civic si coupe. btw i love your work, keep it up.
Can I turn the hill start assist off ? I'v been driving manual transmissions since the 80's and am quite capable of handling the clutch on my own and I'm no Rocket Scientist
Hi Honda Man, is there a way to disable hill start assist ? I dont need HSA on small inclinations and i am used to using the hand brake. Its more fun handling hills manually than letting the system do it for you.
If you don't activate the HSA it won't come on line however, there is no manual handbrake in the manual HR-V so you can't use the parking brake handle to keep from rolling back. The HSA works just fine. I love it on my 2016 HR-V.
When shifting into gears in a manual transmission car alls you have to do to switch gears is just let off the gas press in the clutch then switch gears but can you just step on the clutch and let go then switch and keep going or not I'm just wondering
Noic correct and you also shouldn't keep the clutch depressed at stops . It should be in neutral. If you keep doing that you wear out the clutch mechanism faster
Americans make such a big deal with driving a manual. Here in Europe it's so normal to drive manuals. We don't complain about hill start assist, we don't need that cause we were taught how to do it right. Also brake assist isn't necessary cause we don't complain either about just putting the foot on the brake. Yes, they are nice things to have but not a must have if you drive a manual
Yes, those are new features. Honda is one of the few car makers that still make manuals. I'm glad they are making improvements. Other car-makers don't make too many manuals anymore sadly.
anyone help me please, I am looking for a 6 speed manual transmission car having a engine between 1.5-2.0 Liter, that gives highest mpg and engine durability; sometimes i go on highway from state to state. speed and acceleration doesn't matter, top speed 130-140 mph would be good for me.
It aggravates me that you cannot get this vehicle with AWD in a manual.
C172Pilotdude well that just changed my mind. On to Subaru
mine too
I thought was the only one.
Now I'm looking for a crosstrek. I don't really like the dashboard though 😞
@@MarvelousWesty good luck on maintenance
I will never buy an Automatic, so it is nice to see more cars with the manual option
i totally agree with you
+istvan buda yup. the automatic transmission of HR-V is CVT which is slow on accelerating.
I'd drive a regular automatic but not their cvt transmission. One thing I disagree with their HRV is the fact the they don't sell the awd in manual version and I refuse to drive a cvt.
Sadly, it's becoming less. The 2019 HR-V will not offer a manual transmission. We need more manuals! #SaveTheManuals
BernieSanders agreed, manual is the way to go. Its subjective and comes down to preference, but they are more fun. CVT tran 👎
CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE JUNK.
6 Speed Manuel in any car is the way too go
True but honda is the only company that has got it right
I like the idea of the break assist BUT rolling back was the fun part especially when you pull off an the car would buck as you changed gears. I miss the old school stuff LOL
i love have honda still gives manual transmission. Now Toyota and other manufactures also must think like that
+Jc C try finding one ! LOL
use the internet, every single dealership has their inventories online now.
Not anymore
This video was a great help! I've had an eye on a 2016 at my local dealer, and now I'm even more excited at the possibility of owning a new car. Thanks for the great work!
shannoni86 glad it helped!!
Aside from the fact that this is an extremely biased review
thank you for a very detailed video that explains all the features on the manual transmission lx model
This car is probably going to be my next purchase whenever my first gen 5-speed CRV starts to go out!
Picking mine up next Friday! I haven't driven manual since my '99 Civic I had in high school.
How’s it been?

Thank you, Edward! Cool car! Too bad they discontinued manual trans in HRV/CRV! Miss it!
really hope to get this car, nice review
I like the Idea of having a car that has a MANUAL!!! It is awesome might get one later on.
Nice MANUAL!!!
Thanks for this video, Ed!!✌✌ I've been wanting to see if Honda had any SUVS for manual. I wish they would bring back the manual for the CR-V. That would be super cool. Have a good one😊😊

Can you change the colors on the speedometer? Or they only have green and white color?
I would love to see the civic with that Brake hold and Hill start assist. I live in socal where traffic is horrendous and is the main reason I have yet to want to get a car that is manual. But I desperately want to learn and drive a manual and it would make much more sense where I live to have those features. Of course enthusiasts would argue sacrilege lol. Thanks for the video Edward

hi i was wondering how you got that entertainment system with the knobs? I have no use for a touchscreen as i mostly rely on changing music tactilely
You Gotta do a review / test drive on the 2017 Accord Sport SE manual 6 speed.
This is the exact car I want...a manual shift HR-V in White (or maybe Green). wow this thing comes in manual!? dad's that have to trade in the sports car to make space for the kiddies can still bang out gears lol 😎
I like cars like this. Cars that are rare in manual
Man I was gonna a get a 2016 pilot ex now I want a hr v with a manual
Hill start assist is knowing how to use the E brake and slipping the clutch. Awesome concept though
Can I turn the hill start assist off ? I'v been driving manual transmissions since the 80's and am quite capable of handling the clutch on my own and I'm no Rocket Scientist
The HRV is nice....you guys know when your getting the 2016 Accords? Look forward to that
rig48 should be next month
Would this be recommended for your 2-4th time driver of a manual? & Do they have a AWD manual?
Edward, does the hill start work the same as it does in the 2014 Accord I own or do you have to enable it at every stop?
Wish they can come out with like an HR-V Si Or Sport & Stuff a K24 under the hood, pretty sure a few Si people wouldn't mind coming here.
It aggravates me the manual transmission is not available for 2019. No CVT for me!
what's your thoughts on the Honda city
Will the brake assist ever break if I leave it on all the time?
I HAVE A QUESTION will the new generation honda ridgeline ever come out and will it have a manual transmission option???
Thanks a lot
Can a 6 ft 200 lb person fit in the driver's seat? What is the room inside compared to the Honda Element? TIA
These manuals are incredibly hard to find.
I thought e brake is already a hill start assist lol
Hi Honda Man, is there a way to disable hill start assist ? I dont need HSA on small inclinations and i am used to using the hand brake. Its more fun handling hills manually than letting the system do it for you.

Im driving the 2011 CR-Z n i might try out theses seeing you vid thanks my car as the 6mt in i looking to get that also 6mt..😎👌

Is Obama were here in Puerto Rico, I bought this Honda. ji ji ji. With respect and great video.

+Khalil Page No you have to press in the clutch, switch gears, THEN let go of the clutch
dont hold hand on the stick
Noic how else does one shift then if you can't hold it?
Noo when ur not needing yo shift u shudnt be holding its nit good for trans
Noic correct and you also shouldn't keep the clutch depressed at stops . It should be in neutral. If you keep doing that you wear out the clutch mechanism faster
+1 Exactly
On my phone the thumbnail makes you look like obama
You're the second guy to say that! Must be something to it! 😂😅
Shame that Honda doesn't produce the HR-V in manual anymore.
Brake hold is kinda pointless on a manual car, as long as you're on a flat surface you can just take your foot off the brake at a stop anyway.
Good!!!!!

Anthony Suarez Yeah American culture doesn't teach people how to drive manuals lol so that's why it's such a big deal driving one

06-11 Honda Civic Si sounds like what you are looking for.
You know what was next: they discontinued it.
Which typically happens when no one in North America buys them.
I think if they had this in AWD w/ manual I would've gotten this instead of the Si lol
Bad he has no idea how to to use a manual gearbox
he talks too much..
