When you have experienced an unsupported front opening canopy closing on your fingers you won't try pulling a stuck glider that way again! Especially if it is both hands and there is no one nearby to lift the canopy again. Guess how I learned that.
Stefan, Thanks for an excellent channel. I love your flights over Germany. I am reminded of the times I worked at various parts of the country in the late 80s and early 90s. As an old guy (past 80) ,you have piqued my interest in soaring, and since I am still a very active person in good physical condition, I may take it up. Also being a research engineering -physicist, the technology is really interesting. Safe flying, and keep the good videos coming.
Must be difficult to be on the top of the World Champion leaderboard and everyone waiting for you to jump the gun/start! Can only imagine the pressure that is on you and your team partner. Great Video !!

You can hear the difference between Stefan and Uwe while they talking about the next tacticle decisions and so on. Uwe is obviously muuuuch more conservative then Stefan :D

8:27 eigentlich wolte ich sagen ich häte die kleine Termick mit 0,5m/s und in der miete 1,5m/s noch ausgenutz und danach versucht auf dem weg zurück zum Flugplatz, ein par kleine Termiken zufinden, um so eine Ausenlandung zu verhindern. weis aber nicht op das eine gute idee gewäsen wäre, ich habe mal als Flugschüler mit Fluglehrer eine ASK-21 in eine Termick mit anfangs nur 0,3m/s geflogen und so eine ausenlandung in sehr schlecht geeigneten Gelende ferhindert. dann sind wir eine weile in der Termick gebliben, danach wahren wir wahrscheinlich um etwas Reserve-Höhe zuhaben in einer anderen Termick und dann sind wir wieder die ca. 4 km zum platz zurück geflogen. 8:27 actually I wanted to say I had used the little termick with 0.5m / s and in the mitel 1.5m / s and then tried to find a few small terms on the way back to the airfield in order to prevent a Outlanding. But don't know if this would have been a good idea, as a student pilot with a flight instructor, I once flew an ASK-21 into a Termick with initially only 0.3m / s and thus prevented a out landing in very poorly suitable terrain. Then we stayed in Termick for a while, after which we would probably stay in another Termick to have some reserve altitude and then we flew the approx. 4 km back to the airfield.
Do you ever have problems with property owners not liking the tire tracks all over their fields? Some might want you to come back return the fields to the original condition.
That‘s what insurance is for. True some owners come with pitchforks, but much more rather invite you for coffee. Usually there is not a lot of damage, and driving on an already harvested field does not do any damage.

The altitude is on the left of the pannel, but yeah, sometimes pretty hard to see it even with good eyes...
