    I am an intern at the Teotihuacán archeological site and always wondered where drone footage ended up as I often see people using drones to film there. Nice documentary! I was so excited to see my home and workplace featured in one of my favorite UA-cam channels. Much love from Mexico.

    You guys should travel to the ancient city of Tikal, Guatemala. It's very fascinating especially since the Mayans of Tikal completely vanished without a trace and scientists are trying to discover where they went and how and why.

    • @Ildskalli
      @Ildskalli 7 років тому

      I'll tell you where they are: dead :D
      No, seriously, they most likely collapsed as a civilization after ecological changes disrupted their nutrient sources. Afterewards, they never were the same again.

    • @Ildskalli
      @Ildskalli 7 років тому +3

      They like to call themselves that, and they're probably descended from them, but they certainly did not inherit most of the culture and civilization of the Mayans.

    • @nataliacloves
      @nataliacloves 7 років тому +2

      Ildskalli
      They still speak the languages of Mayans and still partake in Mayan culture. So don't assume they aren't "real" Mayan.

    • @Ildskalli
      @Ildskalli 7 років тому +1

      Natalia: How would you know that? We know of Ancient Mayan only as a written language, without a phonetic counterpart. It's logical to assume that some of these current languages (notice the plural) have evolved from Ancient Mayan - but how much did they change, and how much was lost?
      Also, acculturation in the Mayan regions from later Mesoamerican cultures was strong. The same happened with the Inka, who annexed vast swathes of land to their realm and imposed a centralized and simplified cult, for instance - which is now recognized as part of the heritage of dozens of cultures in South America, from the Amazon to the Bolivian Altiplano and the Atacama desert (even though it's not, as these rites were imposed long ago by the Inka).

    Hey by the way human sacrifices weren't violent and gruesome. These were ancient people's who willingly gave their lives for the gods, it was an honor, they wanted to do this. You cannot really say that this was horrible or terrible. A comparison is maybe joining the army, where you fight and may die, and dieing in the army is an honor as you died for your country. I know the comparison is a stretch, but so is applying modern day standards and moral to these people. Especially considering that human experimentation continued into the 20th century.

      Luis, lo que dices no tiene mucho sentido. Las tribus enemigas, aunque no todas, no quisieron adaptarse o unirse a los aztecas. Como esperabas que fueran tratados? Dijeras tu, se pelearon contra los incas en SA o trataron de conquistar a todos en NA. Pero no, los aztecas estaban establecidos en un area. Si llega una tribu de quien sabe donde y esta en tu contra. Sacrificarlo a mi dios seria lo primero que haria.

      Luis Fernando Núñez Manautou No todo mundo era apto para ser sacrificado
      Solo los principes, sacerdotes, generales y comandantes militares de alto rango eran sacrificados (los campesinos y artesanos casi nunca eran sacrificados) y para ellos no era un castigo si no un honor, eran la sangre que alimentaba a los dioses
      La tradicion azteca decia que el destino de aquellos muertos en batalla, dando a luz, o siendo sacrificados era acompañar al dios sol en su viaje eterno

      de hecho cuando los españoles capturaron a Cuauhtemoc se sorprendieron cuando escucharon que el habria preferido morir en batalla y que queria entonces morir sacrificado como lo marcaba la tradicion indigena

    • @luisfer9361
      @luisfer9361 7 років тому

      Benjamin Thomas Chavo qué wey? Tener los años por tenerlos de qué sirve? El sesgo nacionalista no sirve de nada, hay que ser críticos del presente como del pasado. Los pueblos indígenas que habitaron en nuestro país fueron vanguardistas en muchos ámbitos y hay que celébralos por ello. Pero no hay que taparnos los ojos con falacias al respecto de los sacrificios humanos. Eran arbitrarios y lejos de ser voluntarios. Lee a Bernal Díaz del Castillo, Miguel León Portilla o a R. C. Padden, no te limites a los libros de la SEP. Y si estás terco aún en tu defensa ciega de los sacrificios humanos te recomiendo "Notas sobre el cruce de culturas" de Todorov par que te des cuenta que el relativismo cultural respecto al valor de la vida no es válido. Por último, no juzgues a la gente sin conocerla. Si es que sí eres más longevo que yo aún te falta demostrarlo la verdad...

      For the liberals who belive in global warming, science is the big yellow dot on the heavenly canvas painted blue by the power of lord. The lord said the sun would go dark, it did in 2012. The liberals have made a giant laser to inevitably kill us all to strengthen their goals of white genocide. Seriously if these people made pyramids just to see what time of the day it is, why didn't they just use a watch? Honestly you aren't even trying anymore,
