    Description:
On 24th of February 2022, Russia lounched what is called by the Vladimir Putin, "The Special Military Operation" on invading Ukraine. Since than, the war was brought back in Europe and it looks like we are on the edge of a global conflict between Russia and NATO.
In this video we'll have a look on what we think is the Russia's objective in Ukraine.
Russia always wanted to move it's western border as close as possible to northern Germany in order to be able to defend across the North European Plain.
In order to stop the NATO expension towards the eastern europe, Russia decided to invade Ukraine to prevent it from joining NATO.
But we'll talk more about all of this in this video, so make sure you do not miss it.
Feel free to write your opinion about this in the commnets.
    Hope you'll enjoy the video!

    Transcript:
What Russia really wants in Ukraine !?
In the last centuries, Russia really had a hard time defending it’s western flank as it was proved in the Napoleonic Wars and in The Second World War. Stretching From The Netherlands in the west all the way to Ural Mountains in the east The North European plain is the reason for Russia inability to defend the invasions coming from Europe.
In order to defend itself, Russia always wanted to control territory as close as possible to the narrowest point of this plain which is located in northern Germany. During the Cold War Russia managed to reach this narrow point by his proxies from the Warsaw Pact and completely secured his western flank.
But When The Soviet Union collapsed, it left in its place 15 new independent states. Every former proxy state joined NATO together with the three Baltic states, which left Belarus the only ally of Russia in the region.
If Ukraine would join NATO, Russia would not be able to stand any chance against a NATO invasion across the entire border. To prevent this, Russia decided to act first and to attack Crimea and then the rest of Ukraine in order to shift it’s defense line as far as possible from Moscow.

Fun fact: During the Cold War, America placed nuclear missiles on Turkish soil.
But people in Turkey did not know about this, but the Soviets and America knew that there were nuclear missiles in Turkey.

Spoilers, nuclear weapons exist. It is not the Napoleonic era anymore.
Also Ukraine could not have joined NATO for the next 25 due to territorial disputes which prohibit joining NATO. Namely the naval base in Crimea which was leased this way for this express purpose.

Crimea was the complete republic in Russian empire times. And when Soviet Union appeared it wasn't part of Ukraine (not Union - Crimea of course), but also wasn't part of Russia. It became Ukrainian when Hruschev decided to give it to Ukraine as a present. But other rulers of Soviet Union were against, so Crimea wasn't given to Ukraine legally
