No se que tipo de madera habrá utilizado Maestro. Aquí en España, solo se me ocurre una madera que se podría utilizar para construir un mazo asi. La madera de haya, el haya blanca no, mejor la oscura. Si se utiliza la parte extraida del centro o lo mas cerca posible del tronco, mejor. Es la llamada mader de duramen ,mas fuerte y resistente que la extraida de la parte externa o intermedia del tronco. Es una madera muy fuerte y un poco pesada. Tradicionalmente utilizada en vigas de carga, pilares, traviesas de ferrocarril, estructuras que tuviesen que soportar grandes cargas, muebles de larga duracion y resistencia, puentes etc. Es muy conveniente darle un tratamiento protector para evitar el ataque de carcomas, pudricion, hongos y azulado de la madera, asi aumentariamos du durabilidad mucho mas. Holz das nicht schwimmt ist gar nicht so selten , Arten wie Greenheart , Bocote oder Ebenholz haben eine so hohe Dichte , dass sie eben nicht genug Poren aufweisen um Auftrieb zu generieren . Deshalb sind sie ähnlich hart wie Aluminium oder Kupfer und eignen sich hervorragend für solche Projekte und sind auch für Messergriffe bestens geeignet . 😊

I'm pretty sure the wood he used for that mallet is Lignum vitae, also known as Vera wood. Its one of the hardest densest woods in the world
