- Raintime was formed in 1999, initially in the progressive metal field (in fact the band was instrumental in its early days, until keyboardist Claudio Coassin took over the vocal chores), but as time progressed the band moved toward a more power metal style. Eventually they signed to Arise Records and released their debut, Tales From Sadness, in 2005. Tales is one of those albums that, while not directly reminiscent of any one band, draws from several similar influences within the melodic power metal field to result in a sound that is instantly familiar, if not radically unique. The vocals are of two distinct styles, a typical clear power metal voice mixed with some rougher melodic death metal stylings, the latter giving the songs a bit of an aggressive punch. On the other hand, the often-predominant keyboards show a more melodic side to the band, almost poppy at times. They've still got some work to do to find their own niche, but Tales is a decent enough start to their career. They've since released their second album, Flies & Lies, in the spring of 2007.

i'm really liking how they combine the vocal styles, i think it makes it more interesting to listen to than constant metal! :)
There's nothing wrong with constant metal
Flies and Lies is still one of my favorite album and IMHO was the best formation.
The band performing live was great, they transmitted energy and were very powerful. I saw them three times.
It's a pity they disbanded after Psychromatic.
The solo is fuc**ng awsome.

@@Vukf1 Thanks bro I really appreciate your kind words, the band broke up, here in Italy the metal scene disintegrated. I am getting my degree in engineering but I still play constantly, I'll let you know when something comes up.
this is similar to dark tranquility...they're very good, but bands like dark tranquility or mors principium est are really hard to match.tnks 4 uploading !

@MidnightRain4 absolutely! I am getting more and more into mixed vocal styles and find now that only using one in some bands sound boring! If you like this style check out Scar Symmetry. Their new Album has new vocalists and isn't their best. Check out Scar Symmetry with Christian Alvestam. It's amazing!

Scoperti un paio di anni fa con Tales from Sadness e poi con Flies & Lies... che dire questi ragazzi ci sanno fare. In Italia di buona musica ce n'è... basta cercare.
Per quanto riguarda la voce di Claudio, adoro gli accostamenti che riesce a fare tra voce pulita e screaming. GRANDI RAINTIME!!!

I listen to bands with both type of vocals but both mixed and constantly changing makes it annoying imo
i have to say that it sounds alot like Kamelot, very mediocre choirus... i think they should stick to the melodeath.

I never listen to heavy metal, but I just did and I known Raintime for five years, and this is the first song I heard by them. Raintime is the only heavy metal band I like.
I think Raintime should try more scream vocals in more of there songs but there still good!
I don't know why anyone would change their music to a more modern metal sound when they got this sound going...
