❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Jamais entendu un ensemble aussi remarquable ! Cette musique est sublime mais l'interprétation l'est encore davantage ! Merci à tous en particulier à Andrew Hallok dont la voix est angélique
The disembodied entities of the great men, those who were able to chant love, rejoice hearing this wonder! This is one of the most beautiful music ever written, and they sing it as if in the presence of the Lord, in fact they all look like Apostles!
If I had a say in this recording, as with so many these days, I find the one on a part and very close microphone for each singer has the effect of dampening the room acoustics. I think it is done to give all voices a clarity which is desired in today's listening public but not as one would have heard it originally. It is also how today's orchestral and piano performances are recorded. Its all about the direct sound which gives a 2D sonic picture. Still the group is great and their lack of vibrato is such a pleasant relief in today's opera obsessive vocal world.
Can someone please acknowledge, apart from the artistic-musical quality, what incredibly strong guys these are? Each of them has more expression and character than the greatest actor-stars and more masculinity and strength than a whole gym full of musclemen. Dedication makes you strong - inspiring role models! Perhaps one of Björn Schmelzer's greater achievements is forging this team together...
Oh gosh yes , it's so incredible isn't it? Especially when preforming late medieval pieces, one have to give himself up to this freedom of expression. In any classical music it is important , yet I think in polyphony it reaches a unique light, as each voice is independent, and loving, and each voice's passion wants to meet his other beloved, the contra to him (!). What a joy is it, when humans are so free within their love! To truly evaluate late medieval music, one have to loose himself to the music. Only when you don't try to fight the polyphony but rather live in it, you could gain the greatest bliss of heaven one could imagine! God (love) is in each of these voices ; I am just thankful for letting us meet this beauty in each one of you(!). ❤️

Gombert is a wonderful but neglected follower of Josquin. Great interpretation.
Agreed. More air time for Gombert.
tremendous performance... who knows where you can get the score for this?

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
👏👏👏👏👏👏
when you have heard this you can die without regret
Had this on mute by accident and thought the conductor was re-enacting a ritualistic gorilla war dance.
