Sadly never gained popularity in the UK but I've loved his music since I first heard him in 78 & now have his art on my wall. I love that he's a true icon over in the Netherlands & beyond
There is a saying amongst some of my Brood friends it goes like this.... Give us our daily Brood. I've seen him several times. Believe it or not most times he was great even when he was "out" of it. 🍞
I.P. in a better world----
Have loved this one ever since it was first released in the States. Fantastic song with a compelling, edgy riff and featuring top flight work by the late great Herman Brood and the excellent Dany Lademacher. Thanks for posting & cheers from here in Nashville, TN ...
I’m currently staying at the Hilton Amsterdam. I’m from the states and never knew of Herman Brood. My Uber driver told me about him last night. I was 13 when he died, but here I am listening to his music in the same hotel he jumped from. I wish I had heard of him earlier.
Very good story, thank you! I saw him in TV at the age of 13, it was good! But there was no memory! Nina Hagen brings me back to this wonderful artist!

oH this guy was a great musician (and unfortunately a meth and heroin shooter), like so many in this crazy generation! Saw him live in the Paradiso in Amsterdam and after the show we made a nice interview with him and the band.... Same night I saw him again in the Odeon Club full of a hell lot of stimulants, he didn´t remember much.... I felt so sorry.... Thank you Herman for this great moments full of fantastic music!

Springsteen in the Netherlands, swings like a tiger. the beauty of being young, beautiful and extremely talented. this kind of fire-cracker-energy is only for these ones - as he sadly proved...
I saw him perform at Paard van Troy in Den Haag 1980 or 81 when I lived over there for a year. Part of my six and a half year OE away from NZ back in the day.
First time I saw them was in early eighties in a small club in the east of the netherlands. I was 12 or 13, haha. Last time I saw them live was in the early nineties in Zwolle of all places. Herman showed up about 1,5 hours late and only performed for 30 minutes. I missed the train back home that evening but it was all worth it.
Saw him in the late seventies in Germany (Karlsruhe and Berlin), what a great and energetic show! One of them was even interrupted by him publicly for a new injection. Then I saw him again in the mid nineties in Halle/Germany with a very young band. An old man barely able to move. The piano was replaced by a handheld Casio keyboard, no energy, a breaking voice and depressing sadness in front of merely 30 or 40 people. I went home with a deep sadness. I will keep him in mind as the outstnding artist he was not only in music. And I really love the way bands from the Netherlands played Rock‘n‘Roll back then (e.g. Vitesse).
Vet nummer.
seen him on a dreary rainy Monday night in some ssssh.. youth club , the ceiling just over his head , he sang and played as if his life depended on it .... legend
Was in the Jaap Eden hall at age 12 when I saw him live with a mate of mine of the same age... we went backstage and I got him to put his signature on my arm with permanent marker 🤩 then, to be ‘smart’ I took a photo of my arm by itself as proof for future reference, can’t see it’s me haha hahahahaha 😂🤣😂🤣
I have seen them playing the roof off, but I have also been at a concert (in the 1980s) where he was utterly uninspired. But still one of the best! My teenage room had all walls decorated with Herman Brood and his Wild Romance souvenirs. Sadly most are gone (stupid me).
This guy is brilliant! My Dutch friend recommended him, soooo good. But this is the good thing about guyz like him because he's cult figure and that's what makes him even more personal to us! BTW spreading the word, but you guys should listen to John Martyn, an amazing Scottish folk singer

His band, Wild Romance, is still playing gigs in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. So, check out the concert calendar if you’re here next time.
He was the best continental rocker
Years after his passing, this performance still has that pop.
I remember hearing this on an FM station in Houston. And bought the record.
