When Mario comes to the existential realization that, much like the track, his life is but a facade. He goes in circles, saving Peach, playing tennis, golf, partying, but for what? A few coins? Stars? Moons? Shine Sprites? What meaning do those hold if things constantly cycle anew? What are they but diversions on the way to the grave? I like what you did here. In the original, the key starts in E Mixolydian (which is basically A major starting on E) and then for the hook, it goes to A major (ionian). So essentially, the key doesn't change, but the mode within the key signature does. You basically did the same here, since the first chord you hear is E maj (technically Esus4), you translated that into E minor and turned it into E harmonic minor for the effect and when it got to the hook, it was set to A Dorian #4, which is E harmonic minor starting on A. Mario and Luigi stare down into the void, the only thing separating them from an endless fall being a thin rainbow that might vanish at any given moment. They look forward. The rainbow keeps on going, to the horizon. They both know Peach is long gone. There’s no point in doing this. But turning back after so long and go back to that barren wasteland of burnt mushrooms? There’s no sparkle in their eyes, just gray circles conveying no emotion but an anguished face. They both know that they won’t make it. The track is too dangerous. It feels as if the kart engines were in their last breath. Even if they don’t fall, they’ll just end up stranded in an endless rainbow road. The beaten-up cars pleading for an end. They both stare for a minute. No words are said. The unstable idle engines silenced by acceptance. Mario’s engine revs up. Luigi follows close behind. They won't see anyone ever again. Luigi grabs an item box. No jingle. Just a slow spinning screeching roulette. It’s a golden mushroom. Luigi looks at Mario. Mario doesn’t look back. Luigi closes his eyes and crushes the shroom, launching him forward into a sharp turn.

When you wish upon a Ztar.
i'm really surprised that with everyone writing what they think this sounds like, nobody has brought up the idea of a rainbow road seized by bowser to create his own personal rainbow theme park, creating a kind of rainbow road + bowser's castle hybrid course complete with traps and extremely difficult turns.
SAME BRAINWAVES EHEHEHEHEHEHE
This is what Rainbow Road sounds like when you use the lightest character in the lightest kart and there's a heavy character in the heaviest kart right behind you...
...with a shell...
This is what I hear when I fall off the track 10 times in one lap on 150CC
Oh god I hate it. More please!
When you realize the road to heaven is longer than you expected
And the gate is closing
"Mario, you need to stop this! what if Lakitu can't catch them?"
"Stop this? why Luigi, this is just beginning, we have only raced for two tournaments and even now everyone knows our name!"
"People are getting hurt Mario, FRIENDS are getting hurt!"
"They will be fine, nothing they have endured will compare to the fame they have across the mushroom kingdom, and soon the world"
"The first race got Koopa troopa put in a hospital Mario! you even let that imposter Wario take his place when he couldn't compete!"
"A koopa? You are worried about a koopa? I never though you could be so sentimental, considering how many we stomp on our way to save the princess"
"But that's just it Mario! We aren't trying to save her anymore, Bowser agreed to cease hostility if he was allowed to represent for his kingdom, a koopa is no less a person than a toad, we aren't their enemies!"
"And how long do you expect that to last Luigi? You know how he is, a ceasefire is just a vacation for the lizard. By next week we will run through the motions all over again, at least this way everyone gets something out of it"
"You don't get her though, that's what this is about, isn't it?"
"You may be my brother, but that doesn't protect you if you keep digging up the past Luigi, leave it at that"
"She knows what you did in Sarrassaland Mario, do you really expect her to come around? No matter how popular, rich, or powerful you are she won't forget that."
"That's enough..."
"Just promise me brother, Promise me you'll stop the racing after this! Make them safer!"
"Safety doesn't sell tickets Luigi."
"... Fine, If that's how you want to do it, then let me get to my Kart."
"What? Luigi, we are above the clouds! We are sitting this one out while they race for us!"
"It's like you said bro, anything that could happen to me pales in comparison to the fame I get. Heh, if I fall and Lakitu doesn't catch me, I might just get a year in my honor, the year of Luigi."
"Dammit Luigi, get back here! Luigi!"
The shadows creep over the technicolor landscape. The increasingly desaturated road crumbles all around you. You fear you might not make it out of the last lap alive...
I think this gave me depression
This is what it actually feels like playing rainbow road
when yours friend throw you off the rainbow road soo you throw him out the 3th floor's window
When you get launched off the track at the steep hill at the start, you know you're getting 8th, and you're just...driving...and driving...and driving, 'cause this is the longest track in the game.
This is some Arabian desert boss race theme. The pace is fast but you’re able to nod your head to the beat. Thank you for this holy track
I was thinking it sounds Arabian too
In a timeline, where Smithy won. There is no hope. Dreams never come true.
A resistance has formed. Through sheer determination, they have advanced, and have created a device that lets them jump the gap in Rainbow Road. Smithy's forces will stop at nothing to prevent them from making it.
It is a death race against time before the remnant of Rainbow Road is fully blockaded. A desperate race for their final hope.
The heroes-turned-racers of the Mushroom Kingdom, and even realms beyond, drive weaponized karts in a race for one final hope. One final chance to deliver the wishes necessary to give them a chance against the empowered Smithy who increasingly rules them with a forged iron fist.
Thus, the race that will determine the future starts...
Should use this for bowsers castle course instead lol
Ah yes, the Rainbowser's castle road, where all your nightmares come true.
@@LordDragox412 Easily fall off: check

An ridiculously hard shortcut that all CPUs somehow manage to take perfectly: c h e c k
The rainbow flames are a nice touch
How it actually sounds in your head as you fall off the stage for the 5th time
Super Mario RPG when Mario realised Mallow was the true villain all along.
“Did she say ‘Magical’ or ‘Tragical’ because it was EXTREMELY tragical” - Holden from Liv and Maddie
POV: Bowzer found the ultimate power star, and terrorized rainbow road with hoards of undead koopas
This sounds like a demented theme for a boss fight against like some former ally that betrayed you or something
It sounds like something you'd hear in a slaughtermap for doom, ngl.
At the very beginning I was like this ain’t that bad but then a second later that note played 😳
Everyone’s talking about Donkey Kong’s death but nobody’s talking about how Diddy Kong almost saved Luigi?!
This sounds like a nightmare where you are racing on Mario kart, then when you throw a green shell it hits the back of donkey kongs head and blood splatters everywhere and you are surrounded by demons and you cannot move or wake up and you are haunted forever by the torturing of the evil Mario characters
i need more of this
my life as a child: major key version
my life nowadays:
When you're throwing hands with someone while you take a shit, and they pull out 5 hammers:
Luigi's crippling addiction to heroin and ecstasy
When The Doctor uses the TARDIS to travel Rainbow Row. On this one day, everybody lives.
When it starts storming with acid rain on the ol' Rainbow Road.
When you unlock Painbow Road.
"Rainbow Road. It's where you go when you die."
