After Glitter and Charmbracelet failed to produce any #1s on the Billboard, I was actually worried that we'd never get anymore monster hits from Mariah. I knew she was capable, but it had honestly seemed like the world (not us fans) had completely moved on from Mariah Carey. I remember driving down the road, totally unaware that she was putting out new music, and hearing "We Belong Together" for the first time and I immediately yelled out, "Holy shit! Mariah! She did it! This is gonna be HUGE," and it was, thankfully. The entire album was a major success and labeled as a comeback leading her to say something along the lines of, "Why is it only me? How many comebacks do I have to have?" Personally, I don't think she'll ever produce another number one hit. If you don't count "AIWFC," she hasn't put out anything placing her at the top of the Billboards in a decade and a half. I want so bad to be proved wrong and to see her gain her 20th #1 but I just don't see it happening.
I see someone who has had a shit hole life as a child but keeping faith within herself and believing in god she has earned her spot in this universe as a vocal god from a different planet .
