I have a Passat with the same issue, I’m reading it with a couple of different codes, one for the throttle body sensor and one for the pedal position sensor. Obviously checking the wiring may or may not be the exact same, but I really appreciate you posting this so I can use the resources I have to diagnose which issue is at hand and fix it. I’ve recently gotten into fixing my own vehicle for numerous reasons. A big one is that it’s cheaper and I’m learning so so much. Big thanks to you and all of the people that take time into recording, editing, and uploading these videos, we appreciate it!
Got the same codes on my 2009 EOS. I had replaced the TB and MAF sensor with both new last month and all seemed good up until today. I don't have the software you have but now I am thinking it's my APP. Hate throwing parts into it, but your video was well needed. Thanks.
Had same diagnosis..but prior to replacing throttle body...I cleaned it and ran re-adapt & fixed the issues even 5 volt reference numbers & no more Limp mode. Basically throttle body service.
Richard, if you believe the label files have errors, please report them to Ross Tech (they will ask for autoscan of the car which I believe you have). I find quite a lot of mistakes in them, both typos and more serious ones. And the sensors are: G69 - Throttle position sensor G79 - Accelerator pedal position sensor G187 - EPC throttle drive angle sensor 1 G188 - EPC throttle drive angle sensor 2
If I'm understanding you correctly, I think your saying the Two APP sensors as a whole assembly are called G79 and the two TPS sensors and throttle assembly as a whole assembly are called G69?
No! I'm not trying to state that! I simply pulled the G69, G79, G187 and G188 sensor descriptions from a VW repair manual I had just for you (or anyone else) to cross-check that with the descriptions in VCDS.
What I think would be helpful is if the label file was modified to show what voltages should be expected on the APP and TPS. If the "pop up thought box"at 7:38 that shows "expected" said, G185 should be half of G79, and G187 should show inverse of G188. And G187 and G188 should total 100%, it would be very helpful to most users.
Aren't they shown in Group 64? This is the information from the label file: 064,0,Electronic Throttle (Sensor Adaption Values) 064,1,Lower Adaptation,Sensor 1 (G187),Specification: 0.4...0.6 V 064,2,Lower Adaptation,Sensor 2 (G188),Specification: 4.0...5.0 V 064,3,Emergency Air Gap,Sensor 1 (G187),Specification: 0.5...1.0 V 064,4,Emergency Air Gap,Sensor 2 (G188),Specification: 4.0...5.0 V
08 GTI / EPC and traction light come one and go off intermittently. Have had just about everything done to fix this issue. VW throttle body, re-pinned connectors. Gets cleared after work done, usually something different, lasts for about 6 months, comes back with the same issues. Same Codes. The other day, car wouldnt run. Few restarts and it cleared, CEL on. Reset codes, drove to work 15 miles totally fine. Why do you have to be in KC, and not Dallas..... Great video by the way!
@@CoolAirVw Hehe.. I dont know if you're serious or being facetious. I met Mr. Rawlings a couple of times at shows, he and his shop are interested in simply growing the GMG brand. Actual 'fix it' work is below his shop. Nice enough guy really, very friendly, but he is about the $$ and his brand.
@@ThePondoSinatra Just joking around. There is a guy, around Dallas. He goes by "alphasenior" or something like that on Tdiclub. Look for trusted mechanics list on tdiclub.com... Wait... edit... I think he is tdi only. sorry.
That's easy to see after the fact, as I noticed it in the video also, editing makes you view it many times! It certainly would have been easier to notice graphing. Didn't see it at the time though.
I know this video is a bit old, but I am having the exact same issue. Do you think low battery can cause this? The battery in my vehicle is old and died right after all of these problems occurred and the car was parked.
I have the P0222 error in my 2013 Golf. I checked the pedal position sensors and they respond fine. The throttele sensors show me the value 0.45 and 0.05 V, respectively. However, they do not respond when I step the accelerator pedal. I also checked the throttle position. It changes when stepping the accelerator pedal, but does not fit the nominal value (Its range covers only values from 10% to 88%). Do you think that this is a problem of the throttle valve or might there be another problem (wiring, control unit, etc.)?
Great video - i'm working on almost the exact same issue with my son's 2012 VW Passat, i'm getting ready to backprobe the electrical connections at the throttle body to verify voltage readings. I got VCDC today - tried re-programming throttle body after we had cleaned MAP sensor, the throttle body and replaced PCV Valve Diaphragm. I have a few questions - when back-probing the signal wires on the sensors - where did you connect your ground test terminal? How did you decide the issue wasn't the electrical connector/electrical connection at the Throttle body? I've found another video that suggested an issue like this could also just be potentially fixed by re-pinning the electrical connection via VW technical service bulletin 01-17-05.
hook the ground on your meter to the ground terminal on the battery. you rule out the connector by visually inspecting it. If the "female" prongs look "opened up" and the male portion isn't going to fit tight then you can try retensioning or replacing.
