Yup me too. Went to all the games from the Kezar pavilion on Sundays to games at the Cow Palace and the Oakland coliseum arena. But my favorite was always going down to San Jose and having dinner at Joe's in San Jose, then walking to the San Jose auditorium to catch the game there. Great fun in the 60's & 70's!!!!! 👍
I remember watching this game in 1978 in the Bay Area. Charlie's first shoulder block on Jo Jo was probably the hardest shoulder block I've seen Charlie ever do! I think he was around 42 at this time also.
I love watching Charlie O and Bill Grohl on the same team. I remember they played together back in the 1971-72 season when they played on the New York Chiefs!
The Big O takin care of buisness i enjoyed it.Rarely hear Ken Monte comment on Charlie like that. But very refreshing,as they were quite the rivals on the track.I wonder if any of the superstars were friends off the track..Thanks for this Mark.
Yeah it looks like it…just curious are you still going to send me those Roller Derby Items? Do you have an email address that i can contact you at? Mine is dancing316@yahoo.com
That's Roller Derby! Not the garbage you see today. Look at that action. Look and feel the crowd. Charlie is the Logo. If you thought the men are great check out the Women. Same team way ahead of it's time.
60's and 70's when I was a kid I loved Roller Derby. Used to watch all these guys at the San Jose Civic Auditorium. Loved it...

My Mom and I went almost every Monday to the Civic Stadium in San Jose to watch them. Great times
The man put Roller Derby on the map. He was simply an ICON!!

Yassssssss! I do too! Good times!
Charlie O makes punishment fun. He loves it. Miss the good times. Great memories !
I remember watching this game from home. This was really roller Derby at its peak.
Yassssss!!
Mark, can we say that Charlie O'Connell really ENJOYED that?
WOWWEE 👏🔥😁
Yes I’m sure he did haha 😁
Charlie was one of best, you just automatically loved him.
Awesome footage. I remember Bob Hein in the 60’s being completely bald. He looked a lot more intimidating.

Yes they were friends off the track...but on the Banked Track it’s all business
That first shot was brutal
I know right
Charlie ‘O’ my God!!, He knocked the Snot out of JoJo and Bob
1:07 down goes Stafford, down goes stafford, down goes stafford
No hay duda que Charlie O'Connell era el rey del roller derby.
Charlie light on his feet.
If Charlie hit like that on every jam, the other teams wouldn't have scored any points at all!
I had no idea that Roller Derby returned to it's former self after the failed merger with Roller Games. This looks like a game from 1972.
Yeah it looks like it…just curious are you still going to send me those Roller Derby Items? Do you have an email address that i can contact you at? Mine is dancing316@yahoo.com
Charlie O body language was, get up I dare you! You want some more??? Come on buddy???
Sooo much fun. Today all snow flakes. Lol
Who won the game?
I believe it was the Bombers...I would have to watch the whole game again and see who won
