6'6" MH to troll. 6'9" for bait catching. Vertical jigging Shimano Trevala rods are pretty good, or Okuma custom jigging rods. Jigging is tough from the yak! But it can be done if ya got strong arms and perseverance lol.
@@kapahuluboi20 Fish Finder are Garmin EchoMap Series, they have charts/topography pre-loaded and GPS for navigating channels in the dark. If you fish frequently just get a warranty on the Fish Finder as they take a beating from salt.
Hawaii Kai, Ala Moana Beach Park, Sand Island are all public launches with good access on the south shore. Use conditions such as wind and swell to choose the side of island to fish for any given day (Windy App)
90-250 feet are the usual depths, but they can be in super deep water. Pretty much anywhere past the reef in suspended balls in the water (not on the bottom).
