from where you got the file? is it from excel when u use the command sysuse?

sysuse let's you load stata's own built-in data sets. No excel involved.

Can you roll back a command? For instance if you mucked a cell in the editor can you undo it?

You should save your do file frequently. There is no built-in version control, you have to do it yourself using smart file names. :)
