It’s not even just that the Genesis collection already exists on Switch. When I looked at the comments on videos about the expansion pass, there were numerous people saying things along the lines of “Sega games on a Nintendo console?! WOAH!” like they legit didn’t know that’s been happening for over 15 years lmfao. Sadly, Nintendo knows just how naive the average consumer is, and they don’t research anything very hard or very long, if at all.

When I was active on YT, I got a lot of support for sticking up for the then upcoming Wii U against detractors, but once the system actually came out and it became clear to me that Nintendo had no clear vision for the product l, in spite of its good qualities, I would have LOVED to see the backlash I would have gotten had I been in a position to speak my mind about it. Y’all can still be Nintendo fans even if the company and its decision makers aren’t perfect, when they do less than perfect, just say what you feel. To Me Nintendo's major failures was and is in failing to have hardware and graphics that are up to par, Nintendo can be an excellent gaming company if they can just add better appeal to their company, Imagine if Nintendo was to still have The Rare Team and to come up with an HD SNES console instead of The Wii, The Wii U and The Switch.

As a person who couldn't care less about getting the $30 N64 games, I don't think the main problem is that the $30 gives you included services. The problem is that the original $20 didn't give us anything so by principle paying the extra $30 doesn't incentivize Nintendo getting us the basic online services. (i.e. voice chat, reliable servers etc.)
Yeah, naturally the original service wasn't even worth it to begin with, which exacerbates just how bad of a deal the expansion is. It's especially frustrating considering the new offerings in the expansion pass could have maybe justified the original $20 price tag to begin with.
It's really funny that you mention that air conditioning is a standard thing in all cars now. When I I bought my Suzuki Vitara 2003 in 2003. That wasn't even an option for my car. I had to pay like $800 extra just to get air conditioning in my car. Also I Automatic transmission wasn't a standard in cars in 2003. I had to pay an extra $1000 to have it automatic transmission. My new Toyota Rav 4 2021. They didn't even ask me if I wanted stuff for the car. It came with all the standard features and more. The car is a lot better. It's bigger, It goes faster, It's way cheaper on gas.
With the switch I felt like they took 1 step forward and 10 steps back I think it’s crazy how you can’t message people on the device and how there’s no Netflix and paramount plus or HBO max or anything like that no virtual console just paid subscription witch you don’t even own those games I think Wii U and 3Ds were better systems
I agree even as a Nintendo fan. I think it's far more reasonable to have these services from the get go and not have to start overpricing games we used to play. Online play is inexcusable and the paywall was completely unnecessary. We didn't have to deal with this in the past, and there were more options that weren't tethered behind subscriptions.

and when nintendo launched the app, i was hoping that they were going to use it for a QOL reason, and we didnt even get that, you can send invites, but if you are away but have your phone with you, you cant even respond to the invite, the other player will be endlessly waiting, or make an incorrect assumption someone sent me an invite to a mario party game and i couldnt tell them that "sorry, i was already in another lobby, i can join later", not everyone uses discord tags in their switch name, so i dont know which discord contact or if i even have them to use another platform to message let this testimony be an example to the switch app being tacked on with no enhanced purpose it should have at least had. i would have given the switch mobile app SOME defense if it at least had a way to respond to invites or actively decline them with a reason attached, but it doesnt even have that, the app gets no defense from me
Here’s my opinion. Nintendo doesn’t care about online gaming because they’re scared of child predators. Remember swapnote on the 3DS? That’s why they’re not going to let you message people. They want to be a “safe” family console. As for NSO, I think for $50 we should be getting at least GBA and GameCube games. That’s definitely a lot just for a few n64 games.

I don't think it is fair in this case to care about the purchases of other nintendo fans. This situation is different from the paying for online play in general. Firstly, the expansion pass is not gatekeeping essential features from players, but rather optional features. In the case of regular online play, your experience with any game that is online compatible is stunted if you don't pay for an online subscription of some kind. This is not the case for the expansion pass. This means, so long as a significant portion of switch owners still choose to use the regular online subscription, that option is unlikely to be removed. It's also unlikely that most people would choose to pay for the expansion pass considering its absurd price tag. Furthermore, the features gained from the expansion pass only really appeal to the dedicated hardcore nintendo fan. Thus, if a small minority of switch owners decide to pay for the expansion pass, I don't see there being any ripple down effects on the basic consumer like you or I. So if someone wants to pay for the expansion pass, they're free to spend their money how they wish, and it isn't really any of our business, even if those people are unable to recognize when a purchase is actually worth the money.
The fact that the fanbase didn't call out Nintendo on not moving the virtual console to the Switch as much as they could is suprising to me. That first year for the Switch there was no games other than BOW. Now years later we pay the piper for being complacent.

Market averages and the like are perfect examples of this. Things do have a realistic and standard value, but choosing to ignore that value doesn't all the sudden make that a subjective affair.

The N64 games on the N64 app on the Nintendo Switch suck because they don't save your progress and you can't continue where you left off. Nintendo can keep their stupid apps. Without Operation Rainfall we wouldn't be able to play any Xenoblade outside of Japan (minus Europe), Pandora's Tower and The Last Story. Could you have imagined back then we would get this many sequels and JRPGs on Nintendo Systems without it? Honestly I can't. I also remember what bullshit tactic Game Stop pulled to maximize profit selling "used" copies for more than the actual retail price indicating how much demand was for the game. When Sony locked online play behind a paywall, I felt like the only one who was vocally opposed to it. Everyone else was on the anti-xbox bandwagon because of the always online DRM stuff that Xbox was trying to implement. Now that was bullshit, but it let Sony get away with the PS Plus crap. My opinion is Nintendo will never improve until their upper management changes. These old Japanese dudes are greedy and simply out of touch with new technology and what the average customer wants. I will say that they do innovate in some ways, but at what cost? Usually the innovation is rarely beneficial, and comes at the cost of everything else. Their online is still fucking god awful AND they get away with charging a subscription fee for it. Now they're charging a premium to emulate a few N64 games. The milking is crazy. And yet the console is piss weak with games like BOTW dipping well under 20fps, and the amount of features the console has is pathetic. The actual game devs straight up CARRY Nintendo. If Nintendo didn't have such talented game devs then Nintendo consoles would be hot garbage. I honestly wish Nintendo would just go 3rd party or AT LEAST just make them "console exclusive" and start releasing them on PC please. I would love to buy Nintendo first party games on my PC and run these games with 100x better graphics/framerates and just sell my underpowered ass Switch with it's terrible AOL Windows 98 online connection. Seriously that's what playing some Switch games online reminds me of, Windows 98 AOL when I tried playing Age Of Empires 2 online on MSN Live for the first time. Tons of lag and no built in party chat or features. It was acceptable in the year 2001 when dial up internet was the standard, but it's not acceptable 2 decades later when 300-1000mbps is commonplace.

It's really funny that you mention that air conditioning is a standard thing in all cars now. When I I bought my Suzuki Vitara 2003 in 2003. That wasn't even an option for my car. I had to pay like $800 extra just to get air conditioning in my car. Also I Automatic transmission wasn't a standard in cars in 2003. I had to pay an extra $1000 to have it automatic transmission.
My new Toyota Rav 4 2021. They didn't even ask me if I wanted stuff for the car. It came with all the standard features and more. The car is a lot better. It's bigger, It goes faster, It's way cheaper on gas.
With the switch I felt like they took 1 step forward and 10 steps back I think it’s crazy how you can’t message people on the device and how there’s no Netflix and paramount plus or HBO max or anything like that no virtual console just paid subscription witch you don’t even own those games I think Wii U and 3Ds were better systems

Online play is inexcusable and the paywall was completely unnecessary. We didn't have to deal with this in the past, and there were more options that weren't tethered behind subscriptions.

someone sent me an invite to a mario party game and i couldnt tell them that "sorry, i was already in another lobby, i can join later", not everyone uses discord tags in their switch name, so i dont know which discord contact or if i even have them to use another platform to message
let this testimony be an example to the switch app being tacked on with no enhanced purpose it should have at least had. i would have given the switch mobile app SOME defense if it at least had a way to respond to invites or actively decline them with a reason attached, but it doesnt even have that, the app gets no defense from me

Here’s my opinion. Nintendo doesn’t care about online gaming because they’re scared of child predators. Remember swapnote on the 3DS? That’s why they’re not going to let you message people. They want to be a “safe” family console. As for NSO, I think for $50 we should be getting at least GBA and GameCube games. That’s definitely a lot just for a few n64 games.

I don't think it is fair in this case to care about the purchases of other nintendo fans. This situation is different from the paying for online play in general. Firstly, the expansion pass is not gatekeeping essential features from players, but rather optional features. In the case of regular online play, your experience with any game that is online compatible is stunted if you don't pay for an online subscription of some kind. This is not the case for the expansion pass. This means, so long as a significant portion of switch owners still choose to use the regular online subscription, that option is unlikely to be removed. It's also unlikely that most people would choose to pay for the expansion pass considering its absurd price tag. Furthermore, the features gained from the expansion pass only really appeal to the dedicated hardcore nintendo fan. Thus, if a small minority of switch owners decide to pay for the expansion pass, I don't see there being any ripple down effects on the basic consumer like you or I. So if someone wants to pay for the expansion pass, they're free to spend their money how they wish, and it isn't really any of our business, even if those people are unable to recognize when a purchase is actually worth the money.
The fact that the fanbase didn't call out Nintendo on not moving the virtual console to the Switch as much as they could is suprising to me. That first year for the Switch there was no games other than BOW. Now years later we pay the piper for being complacent.

After WiiU I went to PS4 as my platform and never looked back. Can't deal with the disappointment of Nintendo and the delusions of their fanboys anymore. I was a defender of the Wii, but WiiU really highlighted who loved company logos more than actual quality gaming products.

When Sony locked online play behind a paywall, I felt like the only one who was vocally opposed to it. Everyone else was on the anti-xbox bandwagon because of the always online DRM stuff that Xbox was trying to implement. Now that was bullshit, but it let Sony get away with the PS Plus crap.

My opinion is Nintendo will never improve until their upper management changes. These old Japanese dudes are greedy and simply out of touch with new technology and what the average customer wants. I will say that they do innovate in some ways, but at what cost? Usually the innovation is rarely beneficial, and comes at the cost of everything else. Their online is still fucking god awful AND they get away with charging a subscription fee for it. Now they're charging a premium to emulate a few N64 games. The milking is crazy. And yet the console is piss weak with games like BOTW dipping well under 20fps, and the amount of features the console has is pathetic.
The actual game devs straight up CARRY Nintendo. If Nintendo didn't have such talented game devs then Nintendo consoles would be hot garbage. I honestly wish Nintendo would just go 3rd party or AT LEAST just make them "console exclusive" and start releasing them on PC please. Seriously that's what playing some Switch games online reminds me of, Windows 98 AOL when I tried playing Age Of Empires 2 online on MSN Live for the first time. Tons of lag and no built in party chat or features. It was acceptable in the year 2001 when dial up internet was the standard, but it's not acceptable 2 decades later when 300-1000mbps is commonplace.
You know what the sad thing is? His examples of bullshit are just straight up a thing already. Cousin's new car has Bluetooth, but only for calls. Music streaming was only available on the "premium" package. Phone companies in other countries do charge for dedicated app packages. Hell, Verizon and AT&T have been slapping people with grandfathered plans every chance they get. People need to wake up about what we should expect from companies, and stop accepting the BS.
BTW, everything you can achieve in the expansion pack has been available for homebrew users for years, including netplay. If their service isn't up to par, make it up to par.
