Thank you for your channel! We purchased the 12" filter after watching your reviews and absolutely love it. For the 16" pump, the price will be hit or miss with Amazon. Currently the price is at $379. Im sure you purchased it when it was only $189. I would suggest anyone looking to buy it to just be patient and wait for the price to drop. Do not buy unless it is at the $189 price point. The 12" pump is more than enough for my 18x48" Coleman.

@@sweetnsassy681 In your case, I would go for the 16" pump. You have a lot more water to move and it would be the most efficient option in your case. Im sure the 14" can handle it, but the 16" will save you more in the long run. Please wait for the sale on Amazon. It dropped to $189 on May 13th again. I would not buy it for any more than that. Just check everyday and wait for the price to drop down to $189 from the $366 price its at now.

Thank you for all of your super valuable info! I am reading some horror stories about people who have had the sand enter the pool because it was too small of a grain. They said they are using official pool sand- zeosand, fairmount minerals,#20 grade. I see you used Polmetto sand- i saw it on amazon but it didnt have any reviews. Is that my best bet? I ordered the Intex 2800 sand filter and a Bestway Power steel Vista 18 feet pool. This will be our first pool, I have been watching your videos. I have a question. I am trying to decide on a filter for my stock tank pool. I am looking at the 10" and the 12". It is a 8' x 2' tank. Will the 12" be too much? Will the 10" be ok? It is a .25 HP. I've calculated it at 752 gallons.

    Quick question...
I have the same as you, big pump and same pool. After a quick dust storm, the dirt in the bottom can’t be vacuumed up. When I try, the dirt just goes through the pump and blows back out into the pool making things worse. How can I vacuum the pool? Any suggestions?

Greetings from Tampa! We just set up the same pool you have and your videos have been so helpful. We have been getting sand blown in pool when we first turn on the pump (2800 intex sand filter) after reading and researching videos I think we may have found the issue. We got the Clorox filter sand thinking it would be great. This lady has described our issue to a t, so we are going to empty our sand filter and put new sand in, the #20 it states to use to begin with. Curious where did you purchase your sand and how much did you put in yours?

Well let agree to disagree? :)
Recomending a 300$ sand-pump is easy, but I would argue its not the right thing for most people. There are few considerations to be made:
1.For moderate climate where swim season is only 3-4 months. It just don't make sense to throw 300$ for e pump. Paper cartriges can last from expirience a month if taken care of! Even if we change it every 2 weeks that's 12 to 16 pieces at most! So 60-80$ per season. You'll need 4 seasons at least to make the difference to the sand-pump. Which lead me to the second point...
2.Longevity! In my decade of using Intex, never ever a cartrige pump failed me! I still had very old ones(as a reserve), since every new pool comes with the new pump. Many people can attest to this.
While for the sand-pumps(I havent used them to be honest),many people complains that their pumps brokes after 2-3 years on average. And we already concluded that 4 season is the time just to broke even with it over the cartriges.
3.Third point I want to make is'nt going to be about money or investment, but rather useful expirience with the pumps. One 1000 gallons/hour pump can and will filter and maintain cristal clear water for any pool up to and including 15ft one! I know it from expirience.
And if anyone is complaining that it cannot do that, than... that person must be doing something wrong,or is just too lazy to maintain a pool! (And let be honest, many intex owners are like this)
4.As larger pools comes kited with the sand-pumps,the only pools left in the middle would be the 18-21ft ones which (future owners)may find it usefull to know beforehand that they need to invest in large capacity sand-pump.
    Cheers

Would the 1.25 to 1.5 adapter restrict water flow enough to cause a performance issue or would it be better to just cut hole for the 1.5 line? My pool is the 15’x48” Intex at 4,440 gallons at 90 percent and was looking at the 14” sand pump. enjoyed the reviews very informative.

    • @Pondiver
      @Pondiver  4 роки тому

Here's the deal: restricting the water flow on either side, whether its suction or discharge will eventually take its toll on the pump. The pump will succumb to heat, not because it's how outside, but because the limiters can never become satisfied trying to meet the capacity the pump is capable of. If you restrict on the discharge, its not as bad, BUT, you're still causing internal stressors. I'm posting content about this in 2 weeks.

    • @aliceinchains5243

Speaking on restriction to lessen the load on the pump use two 45s to make a long sweep 90

@@aliceinchains5243 I have removed the hard pipe and went back to hoses because of my new 3 pump set up. I posted this about a week ago. What kind of sand do you recommend and where can I find it?

Any pool filter sand. You can get it anywhere. Walmart or any pool store. For the 12 inch, you need one 50 lb bag.

Do not use this stuff. It goes right through Intex filters. There's a ton of videos about it out there.

Do these pumps need to be covered and protected from the sun?

No. If you enclose them, they'll overheat.
