Love the book, got the exact Same one with Wizard and the orb on the Front.
My only gripe is the Thief ability as percentile, in one of the official Zines this was fixed with a 1 in 6 Roll table

Badass video! Your channel is criminally undersubbed, I really enjoy your content and specially DM Soth!
I have the boxed set with the booklets (in Spanish) and the Advanced Tomes, both Referee and Player's one. Awesome presentation of the rules! Gavin is a great scribe.
Hey, if I can ask, what system is your go to system or your main one, for your regular games? I started with D&D 5e, DMed for 4 years... but Jesus Cristo I'm not getting back into that train.
I'm trying to find my OSR go to system, I've GMed some Shadowdark, OSE, WB FMAG and some Deathbringer, but I haven't found the "one" hehe.

Thank you for the kind words it means a lot! You made my day! For my weekly game I use my own home brew rules set, that is constantly changing. Shadow Dark and Deathbringer would be the closest to what I am doing but I use a lot of different things. And again it keeps changing and morphing. Right now, I am working on the spell system. I have spell levels that are called Circles at this point......but I am really thinking of going with level-less spells, so that will be a bit of some work. Something along the lines of Savage Worlds, which is a wonderful system if you have not checked that out. You may be like me where the "one" is what you think......your own rules set or home brewed tweaks. Though it is nice to just go to your book shelf and pull a game. I am always dissatisfied with other game systems which is why I am constantly tweaking rules. I don't think I will ever be done. HA!

@@AgranakStudios I absolutely get you, I've been working on my own d6 system for almost 2 years now for my setting (about Frog Knights) hehe... I have traveled (traveller in fact) from 2d6 vs TN, Tiny D6 engine, d6 dice pool, YearZero Engine and currently working on a mod from EZD6 (awesome system).
I have only read some Savage Words but never played it.
But I agree with you, sometimes I would like to just grab a book from the shelf and play it, but, same as you, I can't stop myself from tweaking the rules and homebrewing some stuff (for instance, I like playing OSE with the WB FMAG d6 HD rules progression for PC and D6 HD for monsters).

Nice overview. I love the layout and went back to this version (B/X) of the game.

I love the book as a concept and love the art by necrotic gnome. I played 2e back in the day and was first introduced as a kid to Moldvays. I always played fighters or thieves because I was never too big on the wizards inability to do much at lower levels. I tried a wizard once, the DM let me do minor magic tricks just for story effect, Dont get me wrong I dont like the 5e spamming of attack cantrips. I dont want to play a superhero, but I do want to be able to something as a magic user. Currently I play Shadowdark, ICRPG, Deathbringer, and looking at some EZD6 for some fun. I like roll to cast and the ability to fumble magic rolls. Do you have any advice for playing wizards at low level? How to keep it fun besides casting 1 spell then hiding behind the fighter?

I totally feel you. I never liked playing spell casters for that very reason. 1d4 hp and 1 spell at 1st level, ugh! Back when I was playing 2nd edition we would tend to start at 3rd level for that very reason. My hack, as well as others. Give your spell casters a minimum of 3 spells to start off with or if you want more randomness 1d4 spells plus their INT or WIS mod, depending on if they are wizards or clerics. And most important is Roll to Cast. Spell slots just suck so very bad! Next, for the first few sessions give your spell casters a way to acquire more spells so they at least feel like they are useful and to give them more flavor. As well, don't be afraid to deviate from the spell list found in most systems, only follow their damage or effect per level. Next, temper this idea as the spell casters grow, because in Basic, Expert, 1st and 2nd edition and most other once a spell caster gets past 10th level, they are gods. So your spell mishap chart for rolling 1s should be a way to nerf your overpowered spell casters as you see fit. A balance needs to be struck between useful and godlike spell casters and you as the DM/GM have that power. If you're a player find a DM that has a head on their shoulders!

@@AgranakStudios Wow! I feel like a got a thesis on OSR wizards. Thanks. This is my conundrum. With all the mods, is it still worth picking OSR up? I would go advanced because it covers both, but i still like race as class.

Too much fluff and nonsense in modern books (5E I'm looking at you.).
