- Presenting Fireball XL5 "Trial by Robot". The top robots in the known universe have disappeared without a trace. Doctor Al Himber, a brilliant robotic scientist, is the prime suspect. A robot has gone missing from each planet he visited during a lecture tour. As a precaution, Professor Matic attaches a tracking device to Robert the robot his own mechanical creation. Sure enough, after speaking at Space City, Himber reprograms Robert to hijack Fireball XL1 and travel to Robotvia, a planet of robots. Steve Zodiac, Venus and Matt follow in Fireball XL5. Soon after landing, they are taken prisoner, put on trial, and sentenced to a lifetime of mending busted robots. Can the brave crew of XL5 escape and rescue Robert? This is a color animated remake of the UK children’s show Fireball XL5, created by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson, which featured marionettes. Produced by AP Films and distributed by ITC Entertainment, it appeared on US television from 1963-1965 on NBC. Voices, sound effects and music are from the original TV broadcast. There are slight alterations for creative license.
For all ages or anyone who is young at heart. I hope you enjoy.
These are absolutely amazing ! As a young kid I had a big crush on Venus . Now as an old man I have a new crush on this new Venus...some things will never change !
Sorry about the delayed response back, was on vacation. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Keep an eye out for THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE with a December 2022 release date.
Wow! Amazing I thought I was the only one to have a crush on Venus! Reassuring to find I was not alone! Ha ha…
I had a big crush on Steve Zodiac, so it had that effect on girls lol.
Excellent can't wait until the next one take me back to the 60"s
I'm glad you liked it. Thank you so much for watching and the positive comment. Very much appreciated. Please share with others who might like it, too. My best guess for the release of the next episode is Sept/October 2022. Enjoy the summer.
What a wonderful surprise! I've been down most of the week with some flu bug but you folks helped me to forget about it for a little while at least. Another improvement to Robert, the old boy is looking good and Matt's hair is too.
Thanks for helping an old man feel 10 years old again.
Your are very welcome. Making (should I say remaking) these episodes keep me young, too. I told my wife I had the most fun creating this episode. I'm glad I was able to brighten your day and I hope you feel much better soon. Thank you again for watching and commenting.
BEST EPISODE EVER!
Or should I say best episode so far because they just keep getting better & better. And the number of Easter eggs per episode just keeps growing & growing!
I can't imagine how many hours go into each episode but I assure you, your efforts are appreciated & the product of your efforts make the people who see them happier than you will ever know.
I agree viennapalace, updates but without losing or sacrificing the essence of the original shows.
Thank you so much for watching and the praise. Not being monetarily compensated for recreating these, comments like yours are payment enough. It warms my heart knowing I can put smiles on viewers faces. Have a great summer, you made mine.
Another brilliant version, Its better each time.
Thank you so much for watching and the positive comment. Very much appreciated. I'm glad you liked it. Hopefully they will continue to get better. Enjoy your summer!
Himber's rear "Standard Deluxe" control panel is hilarious: Gauges for Karma and Groove; Dials to adjust Mojo Courage, Wisdom and Strength; Slide adjustments for Sun and Clouds; Selector switches for Cream/Sugar and Work/Play; Dial to adjust Patience from Absolute Zero to Saint; Indicator lights for Hungry and Horny; A "Poop" Meter; and a Selector for Bake, Mashed and Fried (potatoes, I assume). Plus, the digital display shows "SPD BRK," "PITCH TRIM," "PRIM SEC," "RDR," ELEV" and other items. And the historic robot posters are a great touch. Great video.

Your animation/CGI skills are growing by light year leaps! 👍👍s 5⭐s & Countless ❣️s for keeping my childhood memories alive, with XL-5!
Thank you for watching and all the praise. Very much appreciated. There's been a learning curve and I agree with you, my remakes of XL5 have improved. I had fun making this episode so perhaps that had something to do with it (new desktop computer helped too). The latest versions of Steve, Venus & Matt I feel are keepers. The new characters allow more facial expressions which will cut down on excessive hand gesturing. Thanks for taking the journey with me and noticing the improvements.
Brilliant! And like others I love the pics of Robots from other film and tv on the court wall.
Thank you for watching and posting a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed Fireball XL5. I'm glad you liked the robots on the wall. My favorite would probably be the Lost in Space robot.

Nice touches with Bender, C3P0, et al in the background of the court room

Hey! Just can't stop watching these.....Incredible character creation. Takes me back half a century..........Thanks again.....Des
Thank you for watching and the positive comment. It's what keeps me going and is much appreciated. I have to admit I had a lot of fun creating this episode (perhaps it had to do with my new desktop system) but making these helps keep me young. Enjoy the summer.
This has just made my day; thank you so much for yet another delightful re-interpretation of one of my favourite TV shows from the early 1960s. I was nine years old when I first watched it, but I still remember the series vividly.
Would there be any chance of an entirely new episode some time, i.e. one not constrained by the limitations of the original rather simplistic storylines? I’ve read that AI software is now being developed that can reproduce the voice of anyone for whom there’s sufficient recorded material to learn from - and there are 39 episodes full of such material in the case of the actors who originally voiced Steve, Matt and Venus. (I’m guessing there might be copyright issues to be resolved for such a venture - but then, wouldn’t the same also apply to re-using the original soundtracks?)
[Oh, just as an aside… could you consider increasing the length of the launch rail to something like the original, as I keep expecting the XL5 to fall off the end of it every time it goes up - and can someone PLEASE tell Commander Zero to stop waving his arms around every time he says anything?]
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the episode. I would love to do an original episode but alas I would run into copyright problems. I can check with the Space City Engineers (I guess that would be Jock) about increasing the length of the runway. As far as Commander Zero, he's an emotional, passionate guy but I'll see what I can do.
If slow-talking Robert is Earth's best robot, God help us!
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment. If you haven't watched already, you might enjoy PRISONER ON THE LOST PLANET ua-cam.com/video/8qfyvM3k2Xk/v-deo.html.
Love the pictures of the robots from other programmes and films around the court wall
Thanks again for watching and posting a comment. I'm so glad you' re enjoying them.
Love these eps. Fireball XL5 was awesome! These are a great tribute to Gerry and this series.
Thank you so much for watching and the positive feedback. Very much appreciated and nice of you to say its a tribute to Gerry. Thanks again.
For once the YT suggestions of what to watch have found a winner.
I vaguely remember Fireball XL5 being repeated in the early mornings of the weekend, probably the only time in my life that I would get up early to watch XL5 and the other repeats of all of the shows now rightly recognised as classics.
You have been so sympathetic to the original show in your animation. It doesn't look like you have taken a shortcut on anything. It must have been a labour of love.
Thank you so much for watching and posting a comment. Very much appreciated. Yes, it is a labor of love. I too remember Fireball XL5 and Stingray & Captain Scarlet. Redoing XL5 is like reliving my childhood. Who could ask for anything more. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Excellent, just gets better with each episode.
Thank you again for watching and the positive feedback. As always very much appreciated. Enjoy your summer.
Excellent animation. Great video, please keep them coming. A bit dated though. The robots reflect 1960s computer and robotic technology. No AI, all remote control.
Harbourside are being faithful to the original series, after all that was made in 1962-1963, and uses the original soundtrack, so its a decent reimaging. .
A great job - a couple of recommendations though - people don’t have to be overtly animated all the time, it can otherwise look like the character has some sort of neurological condition. At times Matthew Matic was waving his arms around for no reason and Steve Zodiac looked like his suit was uncomfortable. You are nearly there though, you really are. My criticism is not meant to be insulting, purely to be helpful (hopefully). By the way, to use the original sound track is an inspired decision 👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I do appreciate the suggestion and take all constructive advice seriously. I'm working on curtailing the "over" animation of the characters. What's helping most is new character models and the animation software have improved facial motions, which allows better expressions. Also I'm also trying to cut down on using pre-made motions (which saves me time) where the character seems to have downed 15 cups of coffee. If you haven't already, check out SABOTAGE ua-cam.com/video/4hqYzX90cWw/v-deo.html
the latest release. Hopefully you'll see some
improvement. Keep an eye out for THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE to be released December 2022.
Thanks again for watching and the encouragement.
Matt (despondently): “Well, things sure look hopeless.”
Venus: “What about Space City, Steve? Do you think they’ll find us?”
Steve (doubtfully): “The Universe is a pretty big place, Venus.”
Yep - you can see why Commander Zero put him in charge of the XL5.
What I thought was so out of character for Steve was his hissy fit rant (10:53 mark into the video) that the XL5 was out of contact with earth. Reminded me of Hudson from Aliens: "We're in some real pretty sh*t now man!"
Also who put Commander Zero in charge of Space City?
Steve: Oh Hi Matt, we were just talking about the missing robots. You got any theories?
Matt: Maybe were should ask Professor Himber.
Commander Zero: The robot expert? But why ask him?
Excellent what a lovely surprise another episode of fireball XL5 it was my birthday last Wednesday, June 15 so it’s like a personal present it’s getting better all the time🛸👽🚀

Happy Birthday and many more! I'm glad this episode arrived in time and that you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching. Enjoy the summer!
15:20 Coolest Robby Robot ever 10⭐👍👍
Thank you. I'm flattered.
Another great episode. The characters and sorts get better every time. I think you’ve got Professor Matic and his hair about right now! Loved the posters of R2D2, C3P0, Robbie, etc, those little touches add much appreciated quality and fun to your work. Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you so much for watching and the positive feedback. Very much appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode and the little "touches" I add to make what are great original episodes a bit more "fun" to watch as remakes. At this point I agree with you about the professor, he's about where he should be (as far as appearance). Steve & Venus I think are good to go, too. Enjoy the summer, and be on the look out for the next episode in September/October 2022.
@@HarborsidePressLLC Will do! I agree the characterisations are great 👍
Redo the entire series like this. Wow!
Thanks again for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the newer releases and all the improvements. The next episode will be THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE with a (fingers crossed) release date of December 2022.

Great job. I hope you can do all the episodes
Thank you so much for watching, commenting and subscribing. Very much appreciated. The next episode will be SABOTAGE with a Sept/Oct 2022 release date.
Another excellent episode which shows your skill and dedication to produce a high quality product, sound is very good on my I pad stereo speakers and using the original sound track is the right choice and it’s always worth the wait for the next episode,
Your efforts are most appreciated as it brings back happy memories of watching the original episodes in the early sixties but now in colour,
Looking forward to the next episode,
Sorry a bit late watching usually day of release but been abroad and very poor internet but glad to catch up.
Thank you so much for watching and I really do appreciate the positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode and the improvements made. Presently in the early stages of production of SABOTAGE the next episode to be released in September/October 2022. Hope you enjoyed your time abroad and the rest of the summer.
1:05 Ah, you've fixed Robert's head.
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for watching and posting.
WOW! Please get in touch with Anderson Entertainment, and the 2 of you join forces to Revive the Series once more.
Again thank you for the high praise. It's comments like these that keep me going. Keep an eye out for SABOTAGE with a September/October 2022 release date. Enjoy the summer!
Wonderful! Is the original soundtrack adhered to?
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback. Very much appreciated. For this episode about 98 percent of the original soundtrack was used. I altered some it for transitional scenes or for an extended scene (XL1 to the launch rail for example). I use music from this and other episodes. Also the robot voices were altered. In the original all the robots sounded like Robert, so I changed their pitch to make them sound different. Enjoy the summer!
Would have been better if the characters were recognisable. Glad you got the voices right! Interesting, nevertheless. 👍
Thank you for watching and posting a comment.
Great remakes but not crazy about new Professor. Did really like the one a few episodes ago. Love this series though. You folks do wonderful work. So much fun to watch these new ones.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Very much appreciated. I'm glad you like the remakes. Sorry about the professor but he needed to be altered (upgraded) to allow more facial animations. At least he has more hair than he did in the previous episode. He's grateful for that.
@@HarborsidePressLLC Matt matic would have been early to mid 40's looking at the puppet version, so latest rendition probably closer to the Anderson's canon.
Was that the 3PO I spotted came across these by chance looking for sleepy time viewing shall give these a go animation pretty good aswell.Worth a sub so subbed

It's funny how Steve pronounces it, Rowbutt!
The voice of Steve Zodiac is Canadian actor Paul Maxwell (1921-1991). He appeared in some major motion pictures such as:
A BRIDGE TOO FAR 1977
ALIENS 1986
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE 1989
I thought Major Ross wrote off XL-1 in a take-off crash in an earlier episode?
It's your best work yet, and I'm very glad that I got to see this one. What's the next episode coming up?
Thank you so much for watching and the positive comment. Very much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the video. I had a lot of fun making this one and I guess part of that was finally being happy with the look of the XL5 crew (also a new desktop computer made it easier to work on). The next episode will be SABOTAGE with a September/October 2022 release. Enjoy the summer!
At least prof has better glasses
Thanks for watching and posting a comment.
Excellent as always! Now, when do you think you'll be able to re-make "Faster Than Light"?
Thank you so much for watching and the positive feedback. Very much appreciated. I'm glad you liked the video. The next episode will be SABOTAGE with a tentative September/October 2022 release. I will keep Faster than Light in mind perhaps sometime in 2023.
Was this sequencing done on second life? Good if it was and if it wasn't you need to take a look at secondlife.....
Thank you for watching and posting a comment.
I hope your enjoying it. The remake was done using Reallusion iClone animation software and DAZ3D modeling software. I have never heard of secondlife but I will take a look.

Again this was all made with the above mentioned programs. I hope you like these, also. If you do please share with friends.
Pity you didn't include ED209 from "Robocop".
Not being familiar with this program, but does the professor live aboard XL5?
As far as I can tell from watching the series, when the XL5 is on the launch ramp on standby the professor does live in his quarters on the ship.
Another stellar job. :-) Venus is looking better each time. Was Dr. Himbler modeled on Rotwang, the crazy guy in Metropolis who built the Maria robot?
I also wondered why Robert was sending Morse Code... but I guess there wasn't any plot reason for it. :-)
Thank you so very much for watching and commenting. Venus thanks you and appreciates the praise. Himber does look a lot like Rotwang (I had to do a Google search of the name and was like wow he does look like him) but the resemblance is unintentional. Actually the character of Himber I used was something I created for an earlier episode but did not use. Enjoy the summer!
@@HarborsidePressLLC BTW, I learned what the Morse Code was about. Robert was sending "SDC" an obsolete signal meaning "Space Distress Code", according to an earlier episode.
@@jimsteele9261 Thanks for that. I wonder if it is same distress code the Amazon Queen used to lure Steve & crew to "rescue" her.
@@HarborsidePressLLC As a matter of fact, that was the earlier episode where I saw it.
Quick question can they breathe in space on a planet
Thanks for watching and posting a question. In the original episode it is never mentioned that they take an oxygen pill on Robotvia so I guess the planet had a breathable atmosphere. Oxygen pills in the Fireball XL5 series were taken in order to breath in space, replacing a need for an oxygen helmet. I believe this was done to make it easier for the marionette handlers to move characters heads.
@@HarborsidePressLLC I did not know that nice one
Oxygen pills!
The Cyberman isn’t a true robot. ;-)
Thank for watching and commenting. Very much appreciated. You are correct. They are Cyborgs. But they're really cool and I wanted to use their picture. I almost used a photo of the Daleks, but they have a little creature inside and operate like a mini tank. I hope you enjoyed the episode and have a great summer.
and bender...
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Sorry but not as good as the original, for one thing XL5 take off is far to slow - original so much faster as fast a rocket engines would go and not like a snail ! Thanks for trying but again you can't beat the original series!!
I agree with you the original is the best. Thanks for watching.
Is there an episode where we get to see Venus in the shower
Thank you for watching my remakes of Fireball XL5. I don't think there's a shower scene in any of the episodes, but you can see Venus in an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini
