This is what sets your channel apart from those inferior UA-cam channels like Hodinkee, they don’t use Buzz Lightyear to show differences in their watches - pure class!!
Gorgeous watch! I have a 1984 GMT-Master II with the Coke bezel and it's one of my favorite watches. Mine is not a stick dial (not available in that vintage), but it is the limited 16760 version, known as the "Fat Lady" or the more flattering, "Sophia Loren."
I think I’d just wear it myself. But I guess you have sooo many watches. Cool you picked up the Omega, I do think it’s about as an interesting a watch as they have in their offering currently.
Interesting perspective on satisfying an itch and trying to avoid the pitfalls that comes with desire that leads to the watch wearing you, instead of wearing the watch.
Never dying publicly what I have, but finding a 3196 with matchstick error dial would be a grail in any collection. Beautiful timepiece you have there! I would enjoy just looking at it
Always liked these. The quality and fit and finish looks awesome and they are very collectible. Especially the one with the wings that pop out sideways. The watches were boring 😂
Great video, Damian. but never apologise for getting 'too nerdy'! Loved the Buzz reference too. But please, just wear this watch more, it deserves it, and if you bash it, then it adds character to the watch! Cheers, Rich
Again brilliant video with a lot of history regarding the GMT iconic piece!! Welldone on another well researched video production!! Thanks for the history on the stick dial
Another great video Damian, informative, presented well and just plain all around enjoyable - like the car channel. I found this one as I had missed it, as I’m looking to moving on a ‘93 16613 Submariner which was a gift from the not so wonderful ”X”… anyway need to move that on bad karma and all😳 As I originally wanted a GMT, gifted the Submariner, I’m now trying to source one. I’ve grown found of the Coke bezel versions and in particular the 16710 - you have a beautiful example and the perfect year, 2007 - congrats. Thanks for the videos, their are truly enjoying to watch - both WG and CG channels. Cheers
Pleased I got a Batman to sit next to my Hulk. I also have an Omega 57 broad arrow, but looking to trade it... any suggestions on what to buy ? Want a strap, rather than a bracelet watch £5k ish and different to the Rolex’s.
Another nice review, well done! I would make you an offer but A) judging by some of your replies to comments I don't think you've ever sold a watch, and B) I just picked up a mint Sophia Loren and I love her :)
I purchased a Loren in 1987, was a R serial sample. Needed minor polishing to remove slight case scratches. Offered to me at $1550.00. I think it was 2100.00 at retail. Seeing online vintage models going for 10 times what I paid.
I think you are wrong on not daring to bang it up. Everything is replaceable on the Rolex, you bang up the ring, you can cheaply replace it. Same with the bracelet. Worst case you bang up the side of the watch you can use laser and get those deep cuts out, enjoy the watch, I have the same stick dial, going to use it everwhere! :)
Personally, I would choose the Batman that you showed in video. But, I am just splitting hairs, thought. They are all special in their own way. The Batman is just a personal preference of mine.
@@TheWatchGuysTV Honestly, I do not understand how people live without one😎 I am hoping Tudor comes out with their version of a Batman in the 41 Black Bay.
My Mystic Meg prediction is that Rolex will reintroduce a "coke bezel" to the current ceramic GMT2 line-up in the very near future. I wouldn't rule out a "kermit bezel" (green-black combo) at some point either. As for me, just gotta slum it in Gotham City with a BLNR :-D
Great information, like you I also have a Rolex coke 2007 stick dial , but I don't have a 3185 movement mine is the 3186 movement, it gets even more complicated now , they say this movement was put into watches at about z7 however mine is a z48 , I've had the back off and yes it does have a 3186 movement, being a z48 it had a paper guarantee, it originated in Hong Kong where a lot of the sticks went to so can you explain how a mid z has a 3186 movement? Ronnie
That isn't the box that came with the watch isn't it? I recall the older modern boxes had a darker shade of green to them, and there wasn't a 'flap' for the papers. Nonetheless great video and content!
The pre-ceramic Rolex is definately a much comfortable watch on the wrist and easier to the eyes than the ceramic version. The bezel colour in the ceramic doesn't come close to the vibrant colour of the aluminum insert. If I were you Damian, I would keep it for future appreciation and you will start wearing it more often when you get older😅
Another great watch, another great video. I have to agree on the bezel inserts; they have bags of charm and a lovely colour, far superior to the cerachrome. I hate to admit it but I'm more partial to the crowd pleasing pepsi. But the coke is still drop dead gorgeous. Congrats on the new Omega, enjoy it in good health. Lastly your views should go to infinity and beyond. See what I did there😀
Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Ming watches. Waiting for the 27.02 myself, but their up coming mosaic chrono looks crazy as do all of their special projects collection
Ok I need to know more about the Buzz Lightyear dolls. Whose are they, the kid’s or the big kid’s? The coke is my favourite colour combination of the gmt. The red looks so much more vibrant.
Great vid! I have a 97 coke version but with all the extra bezels and both bracelets. Love the hollow end links and being able to mix up the bezels and straps. probably the only rolex I will never sell as it's so versatile
Spot on the comparison with Buzz Lightyear.. :) Great job! Also, congratulations on the Omega - looks very cool. Now you got me eaching for one :D. Cheers for the great show and detailed explanations, see you next Sunday!
Another great episode Damien, love that Rolex coke and adore your new omega, that thing is special... I too have recently dipped my toe into the vintage watch scene with a Seiko 6139-6002 blue dial Pepsi bezel.. definitely the cheaper end of the vintage market 😂
Love when you find a new channel like this. Watched a number of the carguys videos over the last few years. Never knew you had a watch channel too! Very refreshing, subscribed
I know the video isn’t focused on this but I’m really happy that you could get the Omega Damian! I wish these special edition watches and cars could just always go to people who would adore them and use them frequently...
Good video. Being different and offering something fresh is difficult on youtube. The fact you have real examples of these high value pieces is very useful for people to understand the differences/benefits/cons of each piece. May I suggest a companion video for vintage and modern subs. If you are genuinely interested in selling your coke please let me know as I am very interested in purchasing such a piece.

Great full set but unfortunately wrong box for the watch. Box u have is a post late 2014 box. Give me a shout, I will send you an original box for the year 👍
Coincidentally, I picked up a year 2000 Pepsi GMT in very similar condition on Friday. It's the wrong year for a stick dial - not that I knew they existed or indeed would be able to discern one, even with my best reading glasses on. I'm a vintage fan through and through so much prefer the look and proportions of the pre maxi dial watches. I have 4 vintage Rolex now, but no desire to own a modern one despite them not being hugely different. Takes all sorts I suppose.
I have a 2005 16710 (Not a stick dial) and I wear it quite often. I paid $5300 for it new in 2009. When I took it in for service the Jeweler offered to buy it from me for $13000. I think mainly because they only had a couple of Rolex watches in stock.
I really enjoy your videos (on both channels)! I am afraid the box of the coke is not correct, it appears to be too modern, nor is the Italian manual. However, that’s a minute thing to change, if you wish to in the first place.
I would love to see the review of the Rolex Milgauss, it is a watch that I'm hopping to buy in the future, and I think that you haven't yet review it, love these channel Damian.
Great video! Thanks! This it actually my best buy never made... I had the chance of buying a 2007 stick dial 3186 Pepsi a couple of years ago for £5500... I didn’t really see the value of that nerdieness so I backed down. Ever since I have been chasing the right stick dial. Yours seems fantastic even if it’s a coke and not 3186 but hey, you can’t get it all can you? Please ping me when you consider selling and let’s have a chat about it.
Since we are talking about Pepsi. What about the Tudor GMT Pepsi? I would buy it but you know 100% for sure you will get the date wheel issue... So I'm holding back... Staying with my BB58 Black for now
I prefer by far the 5 digits Rolex vs the 6 digits. They were the last tool watches made by Rolex. The new ones are better watches, more technical, better bracelet etc... Stunning watch, to me the coke is so much better than the pepsi, totally agree on vintage over new styling / font as well.
Love that it’s such a complete set. And agree about desirability of older vs newer versions.

The coke has been my favourite Rolex for as long as I remember, over taking the all black sub which was my dream watch from when I was just four.
I think I’d just wear it myself. But I guess you have sooo many watches. Cool you picked up the Omega, I do think it’s about as an interesting a watch as they have in their offering currently.

The coke is the most beautiful watch. Perfect.
