So excited for this video to finally be released! It’s so well made and the questions and energy through the video is top tier! You should be very proud of this work my friend!
I was heartbroken just watching the Olympics, but this rubs it in even more. The worst thing is, the same things happend for men and women for the Japanese team...
The best video of all those "climbing with tomoa" videos. Though I don't think only the Japanese climbing team are good friends. I think nearly every national climbing team is good friends with each other.
haha of course climbers within other teams are friends with each other too, but I honestly dont think they are nearly as close as the climbers in the Japanese team, they jsut train together so much more and so often, where a lot of other climbers actually train separately and only come together for official team trainings. I guess my point is they are super close thats all ahha
Yes, and no! You can hear when certain athletes are co-commenting on the IFCS channel because Charlie would always ask all kinds of questions (he always say he wants some inside gossip, jokingly) but slowly during these long comps athletes would open up and would "spill out" some details. They are friendly but some are from different gyms, and rarely train together and sometimes there are rivalry
This episode is soooo good! The vibe is absolutely top tier. And whilst I'm a 40-something newbie from the UK who's never going to be anything but a hobby climber, as a dry-handed slab lover, it's really gratifying to hear how much Tomoa values slab practice 😍 as well as being an absolute beast on other styles. 💪 Loads of insights and wisdom from Tomoa in this vid, and awesome interviewing and filmmaking from you, Jon! 🙌
Great video and even better questions. Loved the insight on mindset, training, and especially the warmup. I’m gonna have to keep coming back and switch a few things around in my routine to keep my body balanced and prevent injury-related setbacks. Also, teach me how to fall with style, please? I don’t think I can learn that from Buzz, anymore.
Would be really cool if you did a video about your training routine. The video about when you trained like a pro for 6months gave me a lot of motivation, how was your shape before you started climbing? did you do any other sports before you started? You are by FAR one of my favorite climbing youtubers, so glad i found your channel
This video is a masterpiece, the questions were spot on and even the music made me feel like I was just chilling with you guys and learning more about tomoa
I loved the recent videos of Magnus and Emil with Tomoe, but I think this one is the best! The warm up, the conversation and the climbing was top notch!
Amazing video, Tomoa really is an incredible coach in these scenarios. The biggest take away for me is the consistent level of difficulty they're aiming for (saying they are rarely sending these spray wall projects). So many people plateau in their skills because they don't challenge themselves. Gotta not be afraid to constantly fail in the gym to get this good.
It really is no wonder they're the best. Not to say theyre relaxing, vut they seem to have created a very stress free environment where their love for the sport can be ammassed and channeled only into those moments where it truly matters.
It's interesting to see how much effort they put in exercising and warming up their hip flexors. Kinda makes sense now that I think about it. When I started climbing a year ago people told me to climb as much from my legs as possible, meaning I had to keep my legs straight and push myself up with my legs whenever possible. And although this was good advice, I do notice that I'm usually using more hip strength with a lot of boulders, especially overhangs. I guess that's because you mainly use your hips to position yourself correctly.
Really appreciate this video so much! So few videos out there actually present such an in-depth insight into the typical routine sesh and mindset of elite comp climbers. Thanks for providing us with this gem, Jonathan, Tomoa and Meichi! 🙏🏻
This spray wall alone must be a million dollars in holds already ! Is it his own gym or someone payed for a part or all of it? Climbers usually don't get this kind of money and instead have... a finger board at the entrance of their bedroom 😂 His place is magnificent, and it's so cool that other climbers visit him regularly!
Don’t make any idols of man. Idols will pass away, Christ Jesus does not. Jesus should be everyone’s idol. And yes I know idol is usually used for someone to look up to, but I’m here to spread the message of Christ!

Tomoa twerking was not on my bingo card for 2024
really? it was on mine.
The questions that Jonathan asks are probably among the best I've seen in interviews, let alone climbing interviews
thank you so muchhh but I am jsut asking what I am most interested innnn
The warm-up was the best part of the video🤣
ahahah I loved editing that part too
watching this after tomoa failed to qualify for the olympic finals is so heartbreaking...
It hits different when

Hahaha definitely
Anyone know what the pad thing they're using for ab work at 2:03 is called?
the wheel of pain
The warm up was so funny
It’s the best
@@Jonathan_sin88 could you see yourself copying this routine or implement some of it in your own warm up ?
Man that spraywall is to die for
might be the best spray wall Ive ever tried
the private gym is always so crazy to me. love the vibes in the video
It’s honestly insane!!!
meiji looked as he was dead of u filming their entire training 😂😂
DUDE waited for this for so long
ahha more cool ones comingggg

I mean I bet they all have a ridiculous expectation inside their own heads anyways so no need to have extra pressure when it's just training right
Very great video. Looking to spend 3 months in Japan practicing at the gyms there.
ok, I am so jealous
Great video, really interesting questions and answers as well. Thank you!
and thank YOUUU for watchinggg

@@Jonathan_sin88 I'm genuinely curious, how did you manage to convince him to do a video with you? did he know you prior?

really glad you enjoyed ittt
LLLLLOVE THE VIDEO, THANK YOU
THANK YOUUUUU
I liked this one a lot! I'm also curious to what grade you climb normally? You seem quite capable to keep up! Are/were you competing?
I am trying to make the World Cup team!! The hardest I have climbed outdoors is V11 but I fall on v3s regularly
Super dope! I'm excited for you

@@Jonathan_sin88 You were moaning mid thrust too HAHA this is a forever great video!! Really well edited too :)
The warm-up,god damn😂
It was a battle...🤣
great vid
Dude….. you fuckin topped tomoa’s spray wall. How stoked are you?
it should be in the history books shouldn't it
they look really silly but those warm up exercises probably are incredibly useful
they definitely are ahha
love the music on this too
ahaha I spent so much time finding the right tracks haha, so glad someone noticeddd
What’s the thing they are laying on at the start of the video?
it's like a foam roller cut in half
what do you have on your wrists? and do they help?
just tape for some extra stability!

His place is magnificent, and it's so cool that other climbers visit him regularly!
what was the clipping mistake that made him unable to compete? Did he z clip or something?
he thought he clipped the first one but it wasn't clipped properly I think and slipped out.
03:28 I know it's not what I think it is.. But it sure sounds like it haha
AHHAHA
9:26 😂
Feels diferent to watch after semis
I definitely shed a tear
Not Tomoa teaching you how to twerk! 9:18 🤣
Definitely not🤣
Lord bouldermort better not take that warm up out of context 😂
Don’t even know what you suggesting🙈

Lesson from the clip - I have dry hands, i should climb 9b's soon : DD
That logic makes perfect sense no?

Well, at least I have the same span as Tomoa sensei.
Yo that dumpy tho 🤔🤣
It is so sad he did not qualify for Paris finals :(
