I’m from Louisiana so raising canes and Popeyes are two of my favorite places however me and some of my friends can agree raising canes is medium tier but really what puts them over the top is you will never get cold food they keep it simple and fast

Exactly, without their sauce, Raising Cane's is vastly the inferior restaurant. That's why I make the claim the Cane's is overrated as a chicken place, it's a sauce place that also serves chicken.
I worked at Canes for years.. You can actually order Canes sandwich with buttered bread, so they butter the buns and toast it. But you can also ask for a sandwich on toast. 3 tenders, lettuce and sauce sandwiched between sauce. Kick it up a notch by asking for it on toast with butter on both sides. They butter both sides of the toast instead of the usual one.
I love canes. But I admit the sauce is the saving grace. Everything there is like a 7/10 (yes for me even the fries) but the sauce is a 10/10 and compliments everything perfectly
That's something more "It's a Southern Thing" channel's would do. I know GMM piloted that format, but I trust Matt's pallet over Rhett and Link's pallet nowadays.
I just really love the tailgate feel of Cane’s, there’s a certain way everything you order from there comes together where the sum is greater than its parts lol But I knew Popeyes would probably have them beat flavor wise. They have great seasoning & breading
I see a lot of comments saying "ask for it to be cooked this way ... Ask for this ... Ask for that" at that point you might as well go to Popeyes. At least they will consistently make your food good without having to ask..
Canes sauce is amazing but honestly they don't flavor their chicken heavily. If you don't like the sauce you probably will find Canes to be mid. I love it
The thing about canes is that every single item, other than the coleslaw (which is actually really good to me), depends HEAVILY on their really good sauce. Popeyes is good without any sauces.

Honestly, the best test of a 'slaw is making a 'slawdog. A good slaw makes a great slawdog. You also know that Popeyes' chicken sandwich was killin' it because Link _kept eating it through two more segments._

At other restaurants, dipping sauce is a condiment. At Canes it is an integral part of every thing you eat. You can't separate anything from the sauce, that makes it incomplete.

I just had Cane's last night and I think their Texas toast is the best and I would give it an 11 when dipped in their sauce! Also, my grandparents used to live in South Carolina and you made me miss Bojangles!
Canes’ food is really just a sauce delivery device. That’s said the toast is unbeatable. I’ve gone there for just a sweet tea, a bunch of toast, and some sauce.

We don't have a Raising Cane's in my area to compare, but I have never - not once! - had a good experience at Popeyes, so this one really surprised me.
All food places hinge completely on whether or not the employees are any good. The Popeyes closest to me hits perfectly 99/100 times. Meanwhile the Cane's near me spent its first year being really bad because they hired bad employees who apparently didn't know how to cook chicken. The Taco Bell near me goes through phases of being wet slop eating through the bag and just being regular low quality Taco Bell.
When I get Canes, I always swap the slaw for extra toast. That way I can throw a tender, some fries, and some sauce on there and make a sandwich. I've actually never ordered their sandwich. I think what Canes really needs to do is come up with a new item, maybe spicy tenders?
I went to LSU, and the original canes restaurant is right by campus. Like basically on campus. And it’s so fun and cool inside. All the Canes have the fun wall hanging stuff going on based on the original which has such a original diner feel.
I wish it would’ve been Zaxbys vs canes but they must not be able to get Zaxbys fresh. They are the two most similar places to each other. I live on the college campus that Zaxbys originated from as well

I don't think I've ever gotten bad fries at Popeyes. They are insanely good when they're fresh, and there's been times where they're still crunchy way after they're "supposed" to be.

The tenders at canes have shrank a bunch over the past ten years. Same with the toast. I was suprised when I moved back to a place with canes I was so excited then let down.
I've never got the whole "Popeyes biscuits being dry" thing cause we only have one Popeyes around when I live and only 1 times were they dry. They're usually buttery and amazing

I don't think I've ever gotten bad fries at Popeyes. They are insanely good when they're fresh, and there's been times where they're still crunchy way after they're "supposed" to be.

they are very inconsistent in my opinion if you get the freshest batch yes they are upper tier but if not then they fall flat

The tenders at canes have shrank a bunch over the past ten years. Same with the toast. I was suprised when I moved back to a place with canes I was so excited then let down.
I've never got the whole "Popeyes biscuits being dry" thing cause we only have one Popeyes around when I live and only 1 times were they dry. They're usually buttery and amazing
Listen - their biscuits are the best. I usually either drizzle either honey or maple syrup on them. It makes them TOP TIER.
@@nidalee8991 I can't stand honey and I prefer the savory biscuits lol. Homemade Chocolate chip Scones tho are amazing that's the closest I get to a sweet biscuit

Between raising cane's and popeyes, I think bojangles just blew away the competitions. They didn't even bring any food and they still won lol
