The example of TLP was quite pertinent but you must remember that even when there was an order from the top to silence them, it was not obeyed at multiple occasions: In Faizabad, the Isb High Court ordered for them to be cleared from the Faizabad Interchange by force if needed; instead they were given royal treatment and some money. In their latest dharna, they weren't even raising a religious issue (it was purely about getting the ban on TLP lifted) and the PTI govt literally had to beg them after the initial attempt failed. We even saw army jeeps going to the dharna and getting visibly terrified by the thugs and chanting Labaik slogans and coming back. Even through Saad Rizvi was jailed, he was released shortly after and the sitting govt's representative Ejaz Chowdhry went to greet him with garlands outside the jail. So, Asad's point about the muscle power and ethnicity/marginalisation of the protestors makes much more sense. Whether there's an order or not, doesn't really matter except for the intensity of action against the weak and downtrodden.
Also, on the honour killing, I think tackling it from a utilitarian viewpoint ('faida' kya hua?) is not the right, or a productive, way. Because the easy answer to this would be that living a bey-ghairat free life is much worse than saving your grace/honour even if that means you're in jail and unable to enjoy that honour, because the people around you would still praise you for being a ghairat-mand insaan even after your death. The shit quote by Tipu Sultan is often hurled in such situations. The way to combat such thinking would be to deconstruct the concept of 'ghairat' itself and question where exactly it stems from.
