Its a 2017 430i m sport. I matched his down payment he worked for 2 years traded up from his 3 series. We're doing a slow build and tune to show him the potential and performance from every individual upgrade. And yes it's a wonderful experience for father and son.
I have collected a 2006 E46 330Ci with the sport packages and M suspension (awesome car), a 2004 Z4, 2000 Z3 M, and a 1998 Z3 1.9 (manual). I bought all of them at a local auction site for less than 4K, over the past four years, and put maybe another 1K into each one to bring them back to a well maintained status and daily driving ability. The 330ci is my wife, and mine, favorite, with my Z4 a close second, with the Z3 M as the most fun on the mountain roads. I just acquired a 1994 Mazda Miata MX-5 SCAA car which I have almost completed upgrading and finishing the basic maintenance items, after it sat for ten years in a barn gathering dust. Everyone needs a hobby
Hey Mark, love your top 10s. Where are you finding this 240 hp number for the N52? At least in the 128 and 328 of the era, you had around 230 hp from it.
E36 328s are the shit. You forgot to mention that only the 328 and m3 have factory ZF 5spds, which is a big deal. Also, the 328 has factory lsd and the later years have obd2, which isn't a 328 thing only but falls under the years where you'll find one. It's the best non-M e36 you can buy.
great video. forgot about the 525i e60. with the 3.0 L I6 at 215 hp N52 which is one of the most reliable engines bmw made. not the fastest but respectable. 0-60 about 6.5 sec. had mine for 2 years and no problems at all. though there is not much you can do to modbut the exhaust and intake. but is still a beautiful car even now and is reliable . just do regular maintence.
I also got a question how come you said the X5 only had a inline6? It also came in the 4.4 V8 and also 4.8is trim which I own and is a very fast SUV, I also have a 135i that I bought at the auction for $5000 Canadian years ago now it’s worth 2-3x more! Another thing here is your mentioning the same power and same 4.4 for all these models, a e34 uses a m60b40 4.0L 282hp and not a 4.4L
As somebody who owned 2 BMWs (an e46 330xi from 86k-120k, and an N55 e90 335i from 58K-90K) I really don't suggest getting any BMW that isn't new unless you have a lot of tools and are prepared for some very annoying headaches. The e46 was simple enough but the e90 was a goddamn headache and the cramped engine bay doesn't help one bit. Even changing the headlights in the car is a pain (you'll wish you had tiny hands). DO NOT BUY THESE CARS UNLESS YOU"RE READY TO LOVE THE CRAP OUT OF THEM. That $5K is really more like 10-20K when it is all said and done.
Ok don't listen to this guy he has no clue what he's talking about. At least do some research before you make vid. The e34 540i come with a 4.0L v8 make 280hp and the e39 540i has the 4.4L 289hp both nonvanos engines are extremely reliable. He also got other stuff wrong but I'd be here forever explaining it
Lol the e30 you showed had Victoria plates… that car starts from 30k over here… a manual 325i is rare as rocking horse shit here.. an auto 4 door 318i is 10k. 5k I wish…
Stick to video games....you don't have to actually work on them....this was the most BS I have ever heard from a car review video..... DONT TAKE THIS GUYS ADVICE ON CARS.....OLD BMWS ARE MONEY PITS.... I LITERALLY CHARGED A GUY 955$ 2 WEEKS AGO TO REPLACE HIS ALTERNATOR ON A 2003 330XI.....BMWS are notorious for cooling issues, electronic issues, and in early 2000s catastrophic cam issues.
If you live outside the us I’d recommend you get your hands on the e46 330d, it’s also a 3.0l inline 6 but diesel, they’re a lot more reliable to the 330i and a lot easier and cheaper power👌
yeah a simple tune goes +250 hp WITHOUT any mods at all and it has tons of torque and better mileage. Here in spain they're quite sought after though :(
I actually have had 2 E30s and I am working on getting another one now. Had an 89 325i with S52 engine swap and a stock 88 325i with the m20b25. I really want to swap in an S54 into another 88 325i.
The list is alright but realistically if u have 5k to spend on a car u want it to have good economy, reliability and registration… no one is gonna buy a 7 series rhat need another 5 k to be on the road twice a week.
I've been in a debate with starting multiple channels, or just one too! I think it's better per niche.. each crowd is happy. And if they're interested in both, then you just insert plugs as you are already!! Good job
no fucking shot bro i legit just crashed my g37 and am looking at some cheaper bmws to use some leftover money to boost and do some other mods to thanks as always Mark your videos always hitting at the right times
Got a 03 e39 540i. To anyone who wants one, make sure to keep some extra cash to spend. The m62 is not the best engine but with correct maintenance you reduce headaches. Do not try to avoid maintenance if your trying to keep the car for a long time!
Entire video was amazing! Currently own an F02 N55 LCI MSport but I’m thinking about getting an E46 330 manual coupe as my next car. If not maybe an E90 or E92. Either way we love BMWs!
Honestly know someone selling one for 5k. 2006 650i with 219k km on it. Got to test drive it during summer and the acceleration push me to the chair and was a fun drive!! Didn’t get it tho since hasn’t been serviced in a while and also needed a brake job. Overall very fun car
Plus also gotta take into account that most BMW drivers are morons and do not keep up with VERY EXPENSIVE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE......EVEN CHANGING THE OIL....that's why they always leak or burn oil....cause they were pounded on with low oil and now piston rings are fried. And about 2 grand to fix that issue lol
Maybe do a most reliable bmw’s tier list. Would like that
Short list.
😂😂😂
Any of the naturally aspirated ones are pretty reliable. Seen some straight 6’s last for upwards of 250k miles.
@@blue_lancer_es 😂
@@AZEOforreal yeah my brothers 328i e92 got the n52 and even with the « beating » it takes it still is really reliable
Great video Mark. Sending this to my son. We're building his 4 series. He loves these. Keep it up brother!
Great fatherly activities, most dads just buy their kid a 3 series and leave it at that🤣
@@eugenef0zzy my dad dont even buy me car
What 4 series are you guys building? And what are you building?

Yep less then 11k but then in fixing it over 60k 😂
Where the fuck Y'all find these under 5k?

e30 325i is worth in good conditions 25-30k
Where the heck did you find that 128i? In Germany theres no way to get one below 10.000€
bro pretty sure the price in this vid is for the low end :D

325hp is a decent no of HP. yes I agree but if someone don't like it u cant tell he's not a carguy. It's because he wants more power from a car.
I have a 318i e36
bruh i guess u are not european
How come you don’t mention the e90 330i? It’s reliable and has a little more hp then a 128i. Just a question
N54 lol any 28i is ♻️♻️

Wanted a e63 BMW for the longest time still haven’t gotten it🤣. Did pick up a e92 328 last month though, gas prices made that decision.
My first car was a e46 330i and my second car is a e46 320i
Those car in Europe cost 2 to 4 times more...
E34 540 is a 4.0

I have the E60 2004 530i which is basically a slightly bigger 330ci and it’s super reliable and fun and sounds pretty good too
Be careful on the e46 the rear subframe support tears away
How could you not mention the e90 330i
I like your content but tbh I definitely prefer these videos to video game content. I appreciate the informative vids on cars.
E36 vs E46 who would have known
i challenge you to do one about volvo's
If you can't afford to buy a newer BMW you can't afford to maintain an older BMW.
