    What would you say to people who in particularising their losses, try to do so fairly? To do so, they perhaps use the cheapest quote of a set of three they have obtained, or don't include something that might reasonably claimed for. Does your answer change if there reason for doing so is not fairness, but to bring the claim into a lower value track?

      @@MarcusMIDI I don't think Alex does discuss whether to reduce the value of the claim, possibly out of kindness or to bring it into a different track. Clearly there is a risk if you go the other way and inflate the value of the claim beyond what can be justified.

      Yes, thank you for those follow up comments both. One has to be careful, because if you massage your claim to come under into the small claims - or come above to get it into fast track - you risk the other side challenging your estimate of losses, which can add costs as a hearing may be needed to decide the issue. But if it looks as if it could fall into either track then yes, go for the track you prefer.
