Keita, Koyomi, Rin and Yuu are school-mates, friends and neighbours. Yuu likes Rin and Rin likes Yuu, but immaturity, shyness and inexperience stops them from being frank with each other and expressing themselves. They play games instead. Enter Kazuma who may be a cog in the wheel or a road block for the friends.

Japanese dramas have always been problematic. They either portray inappropriate relationships (teacher & student falling in love with each other) or bullying. Female leads are often written as submissive and insecure and the male lead as a total jerk.
True… it kind of reminds me of American drama, where the character just have sex or make out in the first eps… and they are like ex lover who are toxic….
to be fair not all jdramas are like that. But I agree with you, for most cases it's just really weird. That's why I only have a few that I actually liked in jdramas. Sadly those are the short ones and not even that popular. I don't get why toxic relationships are the popular ones tbh.

what a toxic relationship... he is not even treating her right as a friend then she also become being lovers with him..I can't imagine their life together seeing how that guy treated her. they're just probably breaking up after. the girl's action is so timid, If that was me after those events I wouldn't be with that guy...

If I remember correctly you have forgotten one of the most important parts, Yuu hated that Ren started treating her so nicely. Yuu liked how SHE let him treat her. One of the points in the story is that not all relationships are the same and that just because someone doesn't understand a relationship doesn't mean it is wrong. In the media there are countless stories that mix in "different" relationships with toxic. I think that is what was done here.
she hated it because it was suspicious and she thought he only wanted to take advantage of her.... He started treating her nicely all of sudden and then asked her to spend the night together... Anyone would be pissed!

Also guys there is no perfect relationship. When you like someone or even date someone sometimes we doubt ourselves, sometimes misunderstandings happens, sometimes the person we love can hurt us bcs like i said relationships are not perfect and we are not perfect. If we love that person we have to accept the flaws that the person has and we should forgive them but it all depends on the situation. And ofc this is not everything into a relationship.
