The main reasoning was because I originally started only on one ship back during the early days of PSO2, & really loved the idea of adding my original characters into the game, for specialising in different classes/damage types. There are also benefits to having multiple characters on one ship such as character bound tasks/client orders, extra storage space, fashion & extra rewards (in rare cases).
