I remember my grandma used to tell me about an old person that lived in her neighborhood back in the late 1970s. She said he used to talk about the civil war like her was there as either a child or teenager. We’re not sure if he was crazy senile or was really old and had seen the civil war as a kid or teen and just wasn’t documented.

My great-great grandmother was born in 1887 and lived until 1995. She never lost her marbles, and was sharp as a tack until the night she went to bed and never woke up. She grew up in California and had stories of growing up in the wild west that captivated us kids. I'm so glad I got to meet her and listen to her stories. It was absolutely unforgettable.
