Great video.. i need this. I get kinda weirded out when I have so much weight on and then having to make it to the surface. I know the weight belt can come right off but man that will make it much easier surfacing in deeper water!
Hey Dave! I had no interest in incorporating a BCD until I tried it with my old Tusa. I kept myself neutrally buoyant metal detecting for the last couple of years and anyone who has done it knows you really have to control your breathing when you find a target. Once i added the BC it was night and day. I add the extra 5lbs and plant myself on the bottom to hunt. Add a little air when needed and fill it up when its time to head to the shore. Very easy to do with your Air Buddy.
@IffySignals yes I keep finding myself adding a lil weight at a time and its aggravating fanning a target and having to find something to grab hold of to keep from floating away! lol
Same here. Tried going 10 feet deep with 18lbs and no BCD. Man, that was risky stuff. Could barely tread water (no fins). This BCD idea is exactly what I need!
@@MrLeviaFUN allot more comfortable for me and relaxed knowing the safety of being able to get right to the surface and float without dropping weights.
Mike, I got your email, yes. This video is awesome and makes sense now. Looking forward to more videos on hookah system tips, tricks, reviews as I recently purchased the Aquarobo 819 system -Leo
@IffySignals , how much weight do you use? I used 18 lbs belt and every inhale found myself slowly floating up not being able to metal detect . Frustrating
thanks for the informative videos. which system can you recommend now? the Blu3 nemo is defective. thought about the nomad mini but confidence in blu3 is gone. My buddy and I have been through too much and the aftersales in the Netherlands is substandard. The Nomad mini is also still not available in the Netherlands. Now think of the aquarobo 819 10 hours. I dive a lot in changing and cold conditions. Also in saltwater. Is this quality better or comparable to Blu3 Nomad?
I picked up the 4 hour 819 because it was $599. I think its $569 right now. Quality feels really good. I do not use the tank and hose that came with it because i already have a bigger tank i like to use. Have no idea on how long it will last because I’m new to it as well. The after service support is easy to contact for them as well. They are on FB and can message them anytime. They have always gotten back to me when i had questions.
thanks for your response. I think I'll go for the 819 then. The option for BCD connection as in your video also appeals to me. Safety and operational reliability in 1 system. the future will tell.
Just one more question. is the use of carbon in the filter necessary? The nemo/nomad does not have this option. Don't understand the point of it unless there is a risk of sucking in the wrong air. I foresee high costs for purchasing and shipping the carbon.
@dboender6949 not sure on that for the nemo/nomad but for the 819 and the unit i built i use an inline filter not the carbon. You can get them off Amazon.
does the (new)hose come with that black end that you hook to the 819 system? or is that another adapter so it can connect? and i assume that with that adapter it will hook directly into the 819 hose?
@IffySignals I just got the guppy. While it is a little heavy, not including an extra 11 pounds, if using a 50ah battery, it has a very long run time. Granted it is for one diver only. Could have sprung 200 bucks for the next model up and supply two divers but I don't see the need. Even as is with the unit, float, battery weight belt, weights, 75 foot hose and mask it is $300 to $500 less than the nomad or the airline. Plus it looks like it will take small wave action a little better than the others as well. Of course I live down here so there was no shipping... I Havnt used a hookah in decades....
For what i use them for (metal detecting) i have no need to go past 30 feet. I definitely do when needed, i use a dive computer watch even when shallow to keep me in check. 👍
@@IffySignalsA Dive Computer is an excellent belt and braces approach. It is surprising how much Bottom Time you can accumulate when using Hookah. Well done Mate. Cheers from Michael. Australia.

@MrLeviaFUN with a 5mm wetsuit, boots, gloves, hood and the BCD been using 25-30 in freshwater.
That's all you need. Good rig.
Thx bud 👍
@IffySignals the reserve air tank I have is from Keene engineering. Low pressure 60 psi max.
@@RandolphRelicRecovery same 👍 works great. They are the only ones i have found that offer a plastic tank

Yes, it comes with the same connection
Didn't know you had a gator gill.
Other than it weighing more than the nomad, aquaboro, or airline, does it out perform them?
Works good, i modded mine with a bigger pump. Stock they work good as well. I just had a bigger 12v pump i was not using.

How do you know if the baterry in hookah is going to be empty?
There is a battery gauge on top.
@@IffySignals so you have to check the battery status time to time?
I mean get to surface check and dive back. While scuba diving you got a manometer that tells you what the air status is.
@arkadiusztomaszewski5181 Definitely 👍
