Vaccuum is sooo important on these things! The thermostat housing has a vacuum switch attached to it that activates all the ported vacuum on the carb. I have 4 tubes on mine. I think this should be brought out on more of these online videos. This little mechanism MUST BE in good working order. 🐈

Hey yeah I have been working on quadrajet for about 30 years and if flooding at start up and running it's because your float is out of adjustment.

i take the little spring out of the fuel filter inlet. if that sticks closed, can crank a battery dead trying to start after a long time parked. don't forget the spring and check valve behind the filter when installing it back on. It's that little valve that sometimes causes hard starting.

Remove the paper filter and replace it with screen filter, you can get at autozone. A lot less headaches. Never use the brass filter, that will have you stalling everytime you hit the pedal. 8-)

Ok have quick question, when my Rochester verijet two barrel is running when looking down past the choke valve the center ring is letting fuel run out and fuel mixing needle does not let me adjust it why is it doing this. Checked the float but no change.

What if after a couple days of not driving you have to put can in carb to start it?

My quadrajet has sat for awhile. It wont start when you pump the gas and try to start it cold. But when I pour fuel in the carb it starts right up and idles good. Could you tell me what I should look for?

The accelerator pump is dry and not squirting any gas into the carb to start it. If you look down into the top opening of the carb, you should be able to see fuel being squirted in when you work the throttle. Accelerator pump tend to dry out if they're not used regularly

@@howardhagadorn9443 Thanks. I rebuilt it and put a new pump in it and it works great.

I have one in my truck and if it sits for more than a day it is hard to start have to pump like crazy runs fine when it gets going and seems to hold fuel for a day and then it’s like it’s not primed or something any ideas

May be leaking down at the well plugs. Leaks out all the gas that would be held in the fuel bowl.
