I LOVE the organic look of the Honesty-plant prints. I also like the look of the slightly off-set colours - it just suits the design.

I love these Molly! I've also always been a bit unsure how to make chine colle work well. I tried it a few years ago and have never gone back to it, but maybe I'll give it another go! It's a nice way to add colour and texture to prints without adding another layer of ink.

Thanks Jess! Yes I always thought it would look a bit like... bits of tissue paper stuck on my print 😅 but I think with the right design it looks really nice!

@@mollylemonart well having ordered one of your lucky dip prints and received it a couple of days ago, I completely agree it is so lovely 🤩 It works really well. The paper is wonderful too. It’s going on my studio wall for inspiration!

Thank you Molly! I love that some bits don't line up 🙌 And the chine collé is fab! I was shown it on a print course at West Dean but it did not make much sense, now it does!

Hello Molly, my Mom and I used to call the plant moonpenny after we read the book "A Nice Fire and Some Moonpennies" by Dorris Heffron. The moonpenny (honesty) prints are beautiful. 😊

Thanks Molly! I enjoyed watching your experiments with Chine the Collé technique. I had a go at this on a dry point etching workshop that I did recently and like you, I didn’t think it would work, but felt compelled to see it through. In fact, it was the best print of all that I did that day. I found it very fiddly to put the glue onto tissue paper, then add the paper. The tissue pieces curled up! If it hadn’t been for my tutor, the whole lot would’ve gone in the bin! We used rice glue which is a paste consistency. I can see that using this technique would be very time consuming, but as you say, it is fun. I love your larger honesty print with the butterfly. 😊

Ah yes rice glue, I've heard that's traditional for this technique! So pleased you enjoyed the chine colle aspect of that workshop, I've seen chine colle combined with copper plate etchings beautifully so I can imagine it was much the same with dry point! Thanks so watching!

I was a bit late to watching there video and missed out on the lucky dip 😢 so sad!
I actually really like the ones where the tissue paper isn't the exact shape as the seed head. I think i might actually prefer it. Something about it showing off the technique more maybe? I really love the gold ink too!

Just found your channel. Thanks for the lovely videos you make and for taking a dog from cyprus. I live in cyprus at the moment and the situation with animals here is not great. Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing your struggles. I am quite similar to you in that way. I wondered if you or someone reading this comment could maybe give some advise. I am an artist also and would love to start to sell my work but i find it hard to stay on one type of art. I flit between different mediums and can't seem to focus in one direction. Do you have any wisdom nuggets you can throw my way. Really lovely channel❤

    • @mollylemonart

Thank you for your comment and for watching my videos! I always encourage people to try lots of mediums and not worry too much about having a style, the common thread through all your work is the fact you made it and I think that should be enough! However, when I found wood engraving I knew it was the medium for me and since then I haven't really used many other techniques so it could be you haven't found exactly what you love just yet! I have a podcast with my friend Bea called Out of Ink, episode 13 is called 'Finding Your Style' I can't remember exactly what we say as it's from 2022 but you may find it useful!
