The difference of the lighting and overall fx in the map is that the version on the right is the "competitive" version of the map, they changed the light to make the player characters more visible and lowered the fx to make it run smoother, the one that we see in the trailer (Left Side) is the Story Mode, therefore they made it to look good since it's a singleplayer experience.
From a practical perspective it makes sense to make things easier to see on the screen, but I still do wish we could get a build or option to see the more realistic/cinematic lighting options. It just looks so GOOD
Yeah the in game version is like someone installed floodlights on the arena. 😂
I’m sure modders will figure out a way to add depth of field. It would be cool if we could get it as an option. They met their target of stable 60fps on console so they didn’t include some things graphically. It would be cool to have high fidelity 30fps in offline mode as an option.
The biggest loss here is the camera work, how it moved with every impact, It made the fight look so cinematic. But I guess it's understandable why they removed that, it can be disorienting in high level play.
yeah almost every pro player pointed it out when it first dropped, i def would get hella nauseous during a fight if the camera was swinging everywhere
Hopefully it's in the files and some modders can just mod it.
Imagine a VR camera mod wobbling on impact, that would be a nice ride.
I feel like the Kazuya and Jin intro should’ve kept the camera shake at least.
Hopefully people can mod back in the lighting and effects of the reveal for those who want it.
it's not just the lighting. The waves, the winds effect, the water drops, the skin tone, it's almost completely different when you compare it thoroughly.
Too much of a performance hit. Performance in fighting games is priority over slightly better lighting.
@@LouSassol69er It's not a perf hit, I show lumen back in the game in my channel.
@@StopBlurryGames yeah but think about the version they started the games development on. You're probably using the most up to date version with enhancements. They're using what they got back in 2021/2022. It does sap performance. It's not some miracle tech that has no impact on fps.
something to note that the current build your playing is the multiplayer version of the map so it must be lower quality overall because it focuses more on performance and competitive play. i believe some time ago the the devs said that the first reveal was from the campaign where they obviously can go all out on graphics and visuals.
that doesn't make any sense, because the game has to run at exactly 60 fps either way
@Crowbar it makes full sense you have to take in account rhe more detailed models in the pre rendered trailer and amount of things going on in the background would be very rough on the hardware and in online would cause frame drops which is the last thing you want to lose in a fighting game
@@d3cay__1yep and thats why im cool with this "downgardr" because i do not want to lose because someone out there either has better specs or worst specs than mine to play online
@@i3ssb00st5 even with it being a "downgrade" like you say people need to take account that like content creators said youtube footage doesn't do this game justice because of compression. When I played the demo on a friend's TV I'd seen it on my monitor before and I was blown away by just how detailed the game looked and sounded people need to wait till they have their hands on it before speaking.
Its not only about performance, visibility is also a big factor. They added character lighting and toned down many effects to make characters more visible during a fight for playability reasons obviously. I can't say that I'll be able to make it like trailer but removing character lighting and using only direct+indirect lighting will definitely help with the look. If I get enough time and motivation I'll make a mod.
I have to say, the in-game version’s clarity appeals to me way more. I didn’t even realize there was a massive ship in the background until I saw this!
People sometimes forget this is a fighting game, imagine trying to break grabs or duck strings while lightnings are flashbanging you on the background

@@thondush It let's you see their Faces Very Clearly in the trailer Tekken 8 Version while in the In Game Version you can barely See Kazuyas Face due to it being Pitch Black so the Lightning actually helps the whole scene out.
It's actually extreamly close. The cinimatic just looks better because the lighting was made to look good instead of practical for good visibility
you can see clipping in the characters models on the trailer footage i wasnt CGI but i do agree it was false advertisement unless on the story mode it looks like in the trailer @Akuma.69
@Akuma.69you are dumb af, the 1st trailer is from story mode, its not false advertising thats how it looks like, the competitive one is just brighter during the play for obvious reasons, to work for players
@Akuma.69How is it CGI? It's clearly in game footage; heavily modified with filters and things to make it look as good as possible but where did you even get this info from?
@Akuma.69They said from the start it's in-game. So either Harada's lying or you're just dumb, and I'm pretty sure false advertising is a thing they could get sued for.
Lumen lighting, Dynamic block animations, Motion blur and new fighting stances for both kaz and jin. New farther camera.
What else is there that the devs cut?
There is no "deceiving". You need to actually use your brain here a little, I'll help you.
The reveal trailer footage is from the story mode, the new video is from normal VS battle (plus whoever recorded it boosted contrast way too much). If you've seen any story mode footage so far, you'd see how in story mode the lighting and scene setups are much more cinematic. Wait until the actual story mode version of this fight to do these comparisons instead of doing these low IQ conclusions right now
Well, come on, now try to say that the point is precisely that the example was taken from the normal mode? It was initially obvious that the game would not look like in the first trailer, so you came out of this situation as a degenerate
As disappointing as the downgrades look, it is worth remembering that responsiveness and gameplay matters way more for competitive games over realistic graphics
If matching the trailer’s quality means requiring better hardware or dealing with frame stutters and latency, then I’ll gladly settle for less
Yes, but the funny thing is that there really aren't many disappointing downgrades.
Other than lighter rain effects and particles they basically look identical.
Personally that's hardly disappointing to me. It's not any kind of big deal.
Sure the heavy rain looks more cinematic for a reveal trailer, but ya it's probably not stable enough for gameplay.
can you imagine that in single-player mode and in online mode it should be 60 frames per second?
Uhh but what about muh graphics. I spam anyway I just want them shinies!
It’s the lighting fx and the frame rate . Lighting alone gives it “that look” and the reveal trailer had slightly lower frame rate so that adds to the cinematic look. The current build is still incredibly pretty in person and won’t have anything to complain about.
Both the game and the trailer have 60fps, watch the reveal trailer in 1080p and go frame by frame.
@R15Sammy you can render a video in 60fps but still have a 3d model animate at 30fps
Both look amazing
I knew Harada is just plain bogus when showing off how realistic graphic on the gameplay trailer
Edit : to those naysayers defending it. Here's statement from Harada himself.
"This trailer was actually taken directly from a certain part in the current work-in-progress Tekken 8’s story mode, played on PlayStation 5. In other words, all the character models, backgrounds, and effects are the same ones that are used in-game. Although this was captured from the story mode, it is not a pre-rendered movie made for the trailer but rather real-time rendered footage, running at 60 frames per second, similar to how you would experience the game in versus battle modes."
a competitive map cant have the same visual blinding stuff a story mode map can have
@@Spriktor But a billion flashes, lightning and visual noise can. Logical

It looks so much better on the Reveal Trailer
for all the namcops saying its about visibility, i can 100% see EVERY single thing thats happening in the first trailer
and the newer gameplay has way worse visibility issues with all the added extra visual effects all over the place, even with the settings set to minimum, there still are WAY MORE visual fx compared to the first trailer, wich makes the visibility WORSE, so cut the namcope already
I'm actually more in phase with the current build because the visibility is what matters. The trailer was mostly for the show and would do a fine cinematic fight but less adapted for multiplayer.
Maybe get around the graphics? Dont you think its boring that every game looks mid?
@@Kalnareff Yes i also play ps1 and 2 games. Many of those were state of the art during their time and many pushed the graphical fidelity. Nowadays many games come out mid compared to the golden days. MGS2 and Tekken 4 come to mind when thinking ps2.
@Dasistrite it doesn't look mid if you're talking about Tekken games
I think they *had* to change a whole bunch of things, I'm fairly sure that most effects were taken down some notches so that things would be more visible rather than being a bitrate hell (on recordings, for example)
Hopefully the PC version will allow the lighting to restored to the original trailer quality.
The lighting is just so bad in the final version. It looks so flat, every stage looks awful. Even TLOU in 2013 on ps3 hardware had BOUNCED LIGHTING. With ps5 hardware and at only 1440p we can't get impressive lighting effects? What a joke. Also tired of these bots doing PR for a billion dollar company.
The first trailer really looks like a next gen fighting game, but the video on the right, with poor lighting plus that bastard sound, looks more like a battle of inflatable dolls, it looks poor
A dramatic mode with lighting more resembling the trailer would be pretty cool

Game will look same in story mode if you have watched story trailer. Of course they used story mode cutscenes in the story trailer, right?
The graphics are exactly the same, they just reduced the particles effects and things like that. Maybe for performance reasons, maybe to increase clarity. Character models, lighting, animation, enviroment mesh quality is exactly the same.

Everyone needs to remember that this is a Fighting Game. A fighting game with this quality of Graphics and effects should be worthy of praise actually. It is meant for performance during competitive play. If you put that kind of lightings and cgi renders to the actualy play, it would hinder the experience for competitive players
Why not both? Owait, because Harada keeps going "don't ask me for shit".
İf graphics only downgraded for online matches, ok that's fine. But as far as what we see from story trailer, game will not look same as reveal trailer. Of course they used story mode cutscenes for story trailer, right? That's why i'm a bit disappointed after watching story trailer.
I'm amazed by the amount of people calling this a "downgrade". Half of the stuff they complain about comes from the lightning, in the trailer there's fire that produces lights and shadows, the map is different and that affects how models look. However, that's it. The models are literally the same, if not even better. Only thing I would maybe see as a small downgrade, is the hair. Which is pretty common in videogames, as it always needs so much power and resources to look very realistic. But when it comes down to the models, textures and animations, the game is literally the same, if not better. Too much people is talking about imaginary downgrades when it all comes down to different lightning, and the fact that the trailer was choreographed and the gameplay isn't. That's all. Game couldn't look better no matter what, this level of polish is incredible. Hope them Tekken devs get some big bucks for all this work.
Hello guy, please wake up, they use TAA anti-aliasing in T8! TAA KARL, do you even understand what this is? this is ps3 level
People don't understand that the video shown was the multiplayer fight and not the story mode fight. The regular multiplayer fight made the stage much brighter because it would be disadvantageous for players to play in a cinematic vignette type of screen
Why not give people the opportunity to change this in the settings? I would prefer to play with graphics like in the first trailer
It is a multiplayer fight. But the downgrade isn't because of the reason you said.
People who hyped up the graphics in the trailer have goldfish memeory. Like we havent seen a million times over fake graphics in trailers.😅
I vastly prefer the reveal trailer. I hope the devs know that a lot of people think that way and acknowledged it somehow in their design decisions
not mean for the competitive pvp version of the map, in the story mode they can go all out with visual effects since visual clarity and frames dont matter
Correct me if I'm wrong, but i think the reason it look better in the trailer is because of the particles like rain and wind? (Sorry for my bad english)

The good lighting is in the story mode, but yes they need to officially add a toggle so it can always be enabled. This shouldn't be something modders have to fix
Why is everyone defending this u obviously got catfished dafq is wrong with u all
Context is key. Of course they're going to tone down a lot of the environmental effects for a normal match. That would be way too distracting. It'll more than likely be much more comparable in the actual story mode since the story is more about theatrics as opposed to visibility.
people keep talking about the lighting but for me it's 100% the blocking animation or idk its smoothness
It confuses me that the game does not have the option to play in native resolution
I'm surprised people still expect the trailer to be the exact same as the gameplay
Im sure pc modders will fix it in the first month, the difference is a lack of lumines so it doesnt seem that challenging (p.s. they already did the same with the cbt all be it cracked)

I feel like these two are genuinely different maps, with the teaser trailer possibly being a story exclusive one
What's interesting however is the story mode trailer showing us Jin and Kazuya on this stage with their P1's, but shirtless, instead of the karate gi outfits
the clear difference is they had to tone down the reflectiveness of the rain on their bodys and the lack of fog or the strength of lighting, i dont care too much i wanna see my charater anyways, makes the background look kinda low contrasted tho.
They used UE5s lumin in the trailer. But too costly to performance to keep that 60fps locked to have it enabled on all stages for final release.
Isn't the whole point of lumin that it's LESS resource intensive than previous methods?
It was downgraded. The reveal trailer had the better graphics

Final product looks better imo. Reveal trailer one had unfinished models, too much filters, and while the gameplay part had slightly better lighting, it made visual clarity worse, which is a huge no-no for games like this
wtf are you smoking. Retail looks washed out and the lighting is worse.
@@meeloks.1013 OP's point is that fighting games need visual clarity to be played optimally, specially competitively. You need to be able to see- and focus on what's in the foreground when it comes to fighting games. Making the background super busy and the visual filters too potent, while the camera is shaking like there's no tomorrow, is gonna hinder more than it'll help. From what I understand, story mode is gonna have more going on in the background, because it's not competitively oriented. It's literally a story mode.

Tekken 7 looks much clearer than tekken 8 because tekken 8 forces Temporal anti aliasing. This argument is complete nonsense for me , they could've done a better job on the lighting without impacting the visibility instead of that they are just using some shitty UE4 basic shit that was used in Fortnite when it released in 2016 xd . The lighting in this game is just ruining everything they did with newer and better models . Look how awful the characters look in the first battle of the story mode , no shadows nothing it looks just like an average 2015 game ...
We were deceived
The left part looks like a cgi trailer and the right side looks like a gameplay. They nerfed or toned down the lighting. You can clearly see that Kazuya's face on left left has light from the environment as well like the fire and lightening and water drops are way visible as well and the lights on the stage are natural coming from the environment and the moon. but on the right side his face just looks a little wet and no prominent rain/water drops on his face. Light on his face is baked as well on the stage.
Motion Blur, and those wind effects, along with the movment.
Maybe some more subtle lighting.

aw man, it's such a shame we have to settle for "very realistic" and not "hyper realistic".
hopefully during story mode it looks closer to the trailer
The models look better. The lighting in the cutscene looked better now too. I can see why they changed the lighting during the actual fight. It's easier to play when you can actually see what's happening lol.
The story mode wind and tornado shit would be distracting as fuck in a serious battle. I'm glad they changed it even if it is a "downgrade". I wonder if it will look like that in Story. Also notice how the camera is not locked down in the original and more cinematic.
The modding community will do it justice.

The only noticeable difference is lighter rain and particle effects. Other than that they look the same.
I don't get the disappointment here to be honest. The game looks great.
I'm guessing that if they showed off a different map with no rain people wouldn't be able to see any easy difference.
They demonstrated the game like that so people expect exactly that, which is perfectly reasonable. It's also reasonable to be upset when that is not delivered.
