I think the saddest part about the "This is your fault" speech from Sam, is that Dream doesn't even try to defend himself like he usually would. Like he knows everything is his fault and he can't justify his actions anymore. I'm actually starting to doubt if Dream will even get revenge when he inevitably gets out.
I have hope he’s changed, isolation in a dark prison cell for months with only some books and raw potatoes for company might be good enough to make him sane
I’ve been getting a lot of comments so let me rephrase this- I think yes the isolation probably made him insane on another level, but now that he’s experienced just a little taste of what he’s been doing to people like Tommy and Ranboo, he might have changed the way he views things. He’s had time to think that what he’s going through, Tommy went through as well, and would’ve gone through for longer if the server didn’t get tired of his shit. I just have hope he realizes what a bad person he was
I think everyone would hunt for him when he would most likely would be misunderstood and would hide.
I think dream would try to correct everything because he know how it would be to live in prison and he would either be peaceful away from everyone or he would be full of anger and revenge and try to kill everyone with the help of techno because techno is the only one who can help dream at this moment

It's the other way around. Antiheroes do 'bad things for a good reason'.
But I wouldn't qualify Quackity as an Antihero either. Antiheroes don't care about moralities in pursuing the 'right' thing. But eventually the outcome will be good.
Since I also wouldn't classify Dream as 'The Villain', Quackity isn't doing heroic things in torturing him. Quackity's goal is to get the revival book from dream. God knows for what he will use it. Dream is more like the main antagonist, because everyone on the server is morally grey, the shades just vary. Most see Tommy as the "hero" just because he is the main character. But we shouldn't forget that he did bad things too, so did Wilbur and many others. Yet we can only relate to them more because we see their sides while they're streaming. Meanwhile Dream doesn't stream and keeps his character's motives mysterious.
He is morally grey and may have done very bad things, but we don't know his motives behind it or anything for real. He stated previously that he will play the role because everyone seems to need him to be the villain and he has the potential. His character is insane, no questions, but we also don't know the extent of his real powers and connections. Like his connection to DreamXD or the egg yet. We don't know what he will do. Maybe he will help in destroying the egg, because he has the power, maybe he won't... and if they ally with him... is he really still the villain?
What I'm saying is that it's really a subjective thing on how bad the characters actually are and how they are perceived. Of course they laid the headstones in the script, but isn't it the purpose of the audience to judge and decide for themselves how they want the characters to be in their eyes...?

I just don't pick any sides here because both are really flawed. I'd never want to side with Dream as alas he deserved to be in the prison for his manipulation and crimes that he's done. Quackity's not an option either, mans just went crazy. Even Techno is very flawed here (I know that this is personal but breaking out the most wanted criminal on the server isn't very peaceful. There are other ways to sort it out without destroying the prison. Still Techno's POV is my favourite. Besides I think Sam shouldn't be in charge of Pandora Vault since he's proven to be not trustworthy first with Quackity and now this. I understand that could be done as Lesser Evil for Greater Good, but I'm not sure at this point). Basically the whole SMP at this moment is just pure grey morality. The helplessness and fear in Dream's voice whenever Sam or Quackity are near in contrast with the spark of hope when he's with Techno or when he was caring for the cat and the fact he doesn't sees himself as a bad guy, the guilt and pressure Sam feels about Tommy's death and having to keep standing such a big facility basically on his own plus the manipulation from Quackity, and how Quackity is so hurt by his fiances's abandonment and his worry that Dream might take all he's work for again.
Yeah they all have done bad things, some of which can't be justified, like Tommy's exile for Dream or what Sam and Quackity had done to him in prison, but that doesn't mean they are a lost case or just pure evil. Not even the "heroes" are any close to "clean"!

Not everything Dream does is manipulative. What I got out of this was more desperate from dream on his part. Dreams been in prison for like 8/9months now and has gone through many days of torture and isolation. He isn’t this calculated man anymore, dude is shattered and loosing his sanity. He wasn’t trying to manipulate he was just begging for at least one ounce of empathy.
Not a dream apologist probably never will be but this wasn’t manipulation it was more desperation than anything. Just my take on it tho /rp

Honestly this whole arc is really interesting to me, especially after this scene
Because c!Dream built himself up as the bad guy, he hurt pretty much everyone one way or another besides Techno and Phil who he's really just acquaintances with. He's manipulated people, blown up nations, killed people, and has done so many horrible things, only to end up in the prison that he designed.
And while that's a fine end on its own- the big bad locked away forever- with its sense of poetic justice, it's not the end of Dream's story
Because through all of the SMP, he's never been put in the perspective of someone who's been hurt, he doesn't ever understand the feeling of powerlessness and he's never held himself responsible for how terrible the SMP has become with all its wars and divisions
He's always excused himself by cutting off the people who would've held him responsible, vying for power and letting go of anything that could be used against him
If he's the most powerful being on the server, and everyone is in the palm of his hand, then he can do whatever he wants
He believed himself to be all-powerful, even for a while in prison
The prison itself isn't Dream's endgame
At this point he's nothing like what he used to be: he's powerless, weak, and honestly after spending several months with Techno he clearly has an attachment there
He's changed because he's been put in the perspective the of someone who's been hurt, he's in the prison that he built for Tommy and he realizes that he doesn't like it, that it isn't fair treatment
And Sam really puts things into perspective for him in this scene, I think, because this is the exact treatment he was going to reserve for Tommy
And if it's good enough for Tommy then why should things be improved for Dream?
I don't think this is a redemption, not a full one anyways, but I think this is an arc where Dream genuinely starts to see that his actions weren't justified, and I don't think that when Techno breaks him out that he's gonna go full villain again, nor do I think he's gonna go full good guy
Honestly he's probably gonna be somewhat like Techno where he's more of an anti-hero, or at least not as terrible as before
techno is an antivillain, not an antihero. antiheros do good things for selfish reasons, antivillains do bad things for good reasons.

I feel like too many people dehumanize him because of his manipulation and his murdering Tommy. I have a feeling he'll probably suicide after getting out, he's literally gone batshit insane. If they truly wanted him to redem himself, instead of puting him in prison they should've gotten him therapy or a mental therapist. It would be wayyyy more effective then torturing him weekly or leaving him alone in a small room with his own thoughts for months.

For some reason they blame all their problems on dream and punish him on a realllyyyy big amount. I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to torture prisoners either, if dsmp was real life same would be fired for letting quackity torture a prisoner. I have a feeling dream made himself the "ultimate villain" so that there would be more conflict and that everyone could blame their problems on him, but tbh I think dream's more then just some crazy manipulative blob :/

I feel like Awesamedude is going on Dream's side now. Looking at how Quackity treated him when Dream "escaped", Sam probably felt really terrible. And Dream did leak him and Sam in the courtyard while Dream has netherite armor on, so Sam might betray Quackity.

Sam made good points, made excellent points by saying he and Dream both knew that Dream wanted Tommy to live in such horrible conditions, and wanted to flaunt his power to everyone, that it’s now biting him in the ass he showed that he’s only doing what Dream had initially instructed. And maybe he even had a rule that said if Tommy (as the prisoner in this scenario) was being abused or hurt inside the cell, that Sam was not allowed to interfere, lest there be a security breach.
So that could’ve been flipped on Dream so that why Sam has been “okay” with Quackity coming. (This is speculation going off of what he said)

@@razan7524 I would recommend watching Tommy’s VODs, ones that are labeled Exile to get the power play dynamic with Dream over Tommy, and then watch the Disc Finale, then some Techno VODs from around three months ago, that explains why he was there and whatnot.

Sam's helping him because he's genuilly tired of Dream and probably of being the Warden,Dream's plan was to annoy Sam so much that he'll eventually make him go insane,he stopped when Quackity came along. However this,plus some more events really damaged Sam,so he probably just wanted to leave and go live his life,but at the same time,there was this sort of obsession with the prison,and with keeping Dream locked it. All the pressure he had to be put trough because he was watching over the most dangerous and hated person in the SMP is no joke. Now I'm pretty sure that obsession is slowly fading away,and he's starting to be himself again

There was one thing that (I think, but not certain) a lot of people from the DSMP fandom forgot about and it was the issue with Dream's canon lives. I’m not mad or anything, I was just shock that a majority of fans forgot about that crucial information that was given during the Final Discs Confrontation. It was mainly forgotten because the characters must’ve canonically forgotten about it. The information I’m talking about is the fact that Dream, despite having done horrible and awful things, is keeping every lives on the server alive by one thread.
I’m explaining it more in detail: during the Final Discs Confrontation when Tommy was seconds away from taking Dream’s last canon life, Dream told him that if he was canonically dead, everyone’s lives would be reduced to one. No matter if they had 3 or 2 lives left, everyone would be playing in Hardcore. Even if they would just fall from a high place or get blown up by a Creeper, that death would be canon and they would not be able to respawn.
It was the main reason Dream was put in Pandora’s Vault in the first place (The second reason was so Dream couldn’t hurt anyone or cause wars with other people anymore). I’d like to point out another point: the reason why Quackity's torture and him killing Dream sometimes wasn’t canon was because it wasn’t a Historical event, in a way. For example: Tommy death during the Bow Duel was canon since it made him give up his discs in exchange for L'Manberg freedom (Because the rule was if he lost, L'Manberg wouldn’t have its freedom, so he had to think of a alternative). Here’s another example: Tubbo's execution! Tubbo's execution was canon because the Manberg Festival was a historical event. It was supposed to be the day when Pogtopia was going to free Manbergs from Schlatt's tyranny, but ultimately failed when Jschlatt found out about Tubbo being a spy. It lead to Tubbo being killed by Technoblade so bee boy would’ve been taught a lesson. Heck, even Jschatts being killed by Quackity was a Historical event! If he didn’t killed Schlatt, Fundy wouldn’t have switched sides nor would Schlatt have asked Dream to be on his side in exchange for the Revive Book. Dream’s knows when a death is considered a canon death. A proof of that was when Tommy was stuck in prison with him and considering of jumping in the lava to respawn in the on the other side. Dream told him to not do it because was going to be a canon if he did do it. Why? Because Tommy being stuck in prison was a Historical event! Tommy being stuck in prison lead him to be killed by Dream and Dream using the Revive Book on him to see if it would work. When he found out that it did, this lead him to threaten Tommy to revive Wilbur. Tommy got scared and planned to kill him, using Ghostbur as a distraction to get in the prison. The plan failed and it lead to Dream killing Ghostbur and reviving Wilbur. (Ghostbur's death brought another Historical event: Wilbur’s revival).

I feel like too many people dehumanize him because of his manipulation and his murdering Tommy. I have a feeling he'll probably suicide after getting out, he's literally gone batshit insane. If they truly wanted him to redem himself, instead of puting him in prison they should've gotten him therapy or a mental therapist. It would be wayyyy more effective then torturing him weekly or leaving him alone in a small room with his own thoughts for months.
I also have a feeling he'll always be scared of quackity after that, he might not be able to get revenge because he'll be so worried about what quackity would do to him when he gets revenge back. Idk man I just have a feeling that dream isn't going to be the big villain people think him to be :/
For some reason they blame all their problems on dream and punish him on a realllyyyy big amount. I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to torture prisoners either, if dsmp was real life same would be fired for letting quackity torture a prisoner. I have a feeling dream made himself the "ultimate villain" so that there would be more conflict and that everyone could blame their problems on him, but tbh I think dream's more then just some crazy manipulative blob :/

i think that quakity biggest concern with techno and dream escaping should be that they can tell people about the torture because techno is pretty well known in the community in lmanberg and other such places amd if word spread of the torture of dream and quakity trying to kill techno things could get very bad for them
