I love how John Golf started as just a sad depressed guy and turned into an alcoholic dad and then finally became a violent man with clear PTSD who wields a gun on a gold course.
I'm pretty sure John Golf is I Want Die before he gave up and started wishing for his end.

I love how wii sports has actual characters with somewhat of an implied backstory
Because you have Matt, the champion in most combat related sports like boxing and swordplay, and even being a coach in the training modes, but he’s also tried out Tennis, being not as good at that sport, putting him at a lower difficulty
This makes me want a crossover between Miitopia and Wii Sports Resort
Matt lives a happy and healthy Life
I watched a wii sports out of bounds videos recently, and in the training area for matt, theres posters from newspapers of him with hair about things he achieved in boxing, quite cool tbh
There's also Ryan, who's always the starting enemy at every combat-based sport, and whose expression and build remind me a lot of a more disheveled, more depressed Glass Joe from Punch Out

Interesting fact about bowling for anyone who didn’t know: the split that RT got on his first shot at 4:40 is actually harder to make than a 7-10. I always called it a Greek church, although I’m not sure if there is actually a proper name for it. I’m gonna stop talking now because I don’t know how interested people would be with something about bowling.

The formation at 4:40 is called a "Big Five" split.
There actually is a Greek Church split, which is the 4, 6, 7, (8 for left handers or 9 for right handers), and 10 pins.
The only reason I remember what a Greek Church is is that it has only been converted 3 times in a tournament, and some 20-year old I can't name recently did.

John Golf is so abusive because he grew up with the pressure of being the son of Vanderbilt Wilhelm Golf, the inventor of golf.
The John Golf comentating is literally THE FUNNIEST SHIT ive ever heard. As it progresed i kept laughing harder and last thing i heard before i had to pause because i was laughing so hard and uncontrollably was how the Caby got hit from 40 feet away. Its at this point i pause the video and because my Asthma kicks in and its getting hard to breathe and a little while after i start blacking out a teeny bit. Only one other thing put me in such a situation before but this was funnier of the 2.

My God, i remember the Christmas our parents got us a wii and that game with two nunchuks. Brings back so many happy memories of me often times *annihilating* my family in all the games haha

iirc, there's a video he did a while back where he played the normal wii sports and played boxing until he beat Matt, he played Megalovania at some point then too so it's actually a recurring joke
I love how we saw John Golf being fleshed out. At first he was a food father who could give less of a rats ass for the tournament. Eventually he developed drinking habits after failing to make the hole numerous times. Turning him into a belligerent father who takes his anger out on his caddy instead of his son. Notice how he gave his son tequila to encourage rather than punish.
John Golf is a lousy golfer and a horrible partner. However, he is trying his best to be a good father.

The boxing commentators are secretly vampires. Their initiation ritual involves capturing a freshly minted golf commentator and draining enough of their life force to leave them apathetic for life.
Trying to watch this past silent hours in my house is near on impossible. How am I supposed to contain my laughter as RT voices an entire cast of people surrounding the career of John Golf?!

I have never stimmed so hard in my life I don't think, seeing the second-ever RTGame video I ever watched get a sequel like this where he finally faces Matt in swordplay. Three years going strong. I wish RT a good recovery, and here's to Wii Sports Resort and the return of I Want Die in his natural habitat.
While I'm making a sappy comment, I guess I'll make it more sappy. I've watched RT's videos since 2018, and the Wii Music video was the first I ever saw. Clicking on that video was an accident- I thought it was made by someone I was already watching- but boy it's an accident I'll never regret. I have fond memories of hanging out in the Discord, and a particularly vivid memory of being in a Minecraft live-stream chat anxious about getting a flu shot (I hate needles) when I wrote a message about that and sent it, and RT saw it and said he was uneasy around needles too. That year, and for that year alone, I was rather calm getting my flu shot. I know it was just another person in the live chat to him, but to me, one of my best memories from 2019 (which was a very traumatic year for me). 2020 and 2021 were really rough years for me, too, what with losing my cat and covid lasting longer than we could ever imagine, and these videos helped me feel something in some moments where it was either I felt nothing or only despair. My mom loves this channel (she knows him as the funny Irish guy who made a plague), and honestly I wouldn't be where I am now without it. There's a lot of things I can attribute to making me who I am, but this is one of the smaller, but still oh-so-cherished ones.
Overall, thank you RT, and thank you to everyone in this community who's been kind and made great jokes in the chat and comments all these years.

4:06 reminds me of when one of my aunts came over and i was playing pacman party on the wii and my mom and aunt started talking about the traditional pacman game and i was like "you kno you can actually play it here right" and they were like "what really?" the amount of joy they had for the few half hour as they took turns playing it is just engrained my memory

Honestly the real sport event in Golf is the "Audience ASMR knockout Speed-run" all the commentators seem to engage in.
I loved Wii sports resort. Last night I watched an iceberg video on it and I guess there's ways to unlock different things in each minigame. Like using a slipper in table tennis, or getting samurai armor for your mii or a purple sword in sword fighting.

to be fair, Miis are more like our conception of Nintendo's "default character customisation" for games that aren't tied into a specific series rather than being "a Wii thing", so it's not that surprising that people would make a big hoo-hah over Miis seemingly being replaced. It's still the system they use for profile pictures on the Switch (outside of the images of the characters from a few franchises), so...
Regardless, I'd probably still buy the game either way.

Its nice to see someone play wii sports resort in a more low-key sense. The original video felt more satirical than it did a video actually appreciating the game, and that's definitely not a problem unique to RT. Most videos I see about Wii Sports Resort tend to fall into this trap, and while it far from ruins experience, it's a small thing that aways tends to rub me the wrong way just a bit.
Breaking News: International Golfer John Golf died during one of the biggest golfing competions he ever attended. It's been reported that as his caddy had said he's only a few strokes off from first place, to which John Golf aledgedly said "I'll show you a stroke!" Before collapsing on the floor and began to violently convulse. Ambulances rushed him to the hospital where he' been pronounced dead several hours later. Curiously his son, Twitch had stated that Mr. Golf wanted to be on a DNR despite no prior evidence before hand. An inside investigation has been launched yet no conclusive evidence has been found. "I'm confused but greatly entertained" is a great way to describe everyone's first experience with RT. I think my first video was the "Skyrim is a masterpiece" video and then a while later I found your Minecraft videos.
Island Flyover was amazing, but it took me legitimately years to find the last i at the secret beach
the wii was the first ever console i got to own and play, and with that, wii sports was the first true game i played. that game holds so much nostalgia for me its unreal, and i still love playing it just as much as i did as a kid. in fact, it's probably one of, if not, my favorite game of all time. swinging my controller and nunchuck around like a maniac is just way too fuckin fun to not love. i unfortunately no longer have a wii and havent been able to play in a while, but i hope that with the new entry into the series, ill be able to enjoy that experience once again - maybe even with friends this time around!
