  • Killbear Provincial Park has been on our radar for years. As the fall colors began to pop, we figured there was no better time than now to enjoy some camping and hiking at Killbear.
This gorgeous park on the shores of Georgian Bay just south of Sudbury features a rolling granite rock shoreline and is home to the Killbear Tree, which might just be Canada's most photographed tree.
On our visit to Killbear, we hiked the three most iconic trails. The Lighthouse Point Trail, the Twin Points Trail, and the Lookout Point Trail. And all of them blew away our expectations.
Stay tuned for a complete guide to Killbear Provincial Park coming soon.

All of the hikes there are really nice but I think the view from Lookout Point is the best payoff. We always liked to walk to the end of Harold’s Point in the evening to watch the sunset. A number of years ago my Wife took a picture at the point that was used that season for the Park Paper.

That is a stunning lookout. It’s so cool to hear about your photo in the park paper!

Did we need to book in Ontario park or just put up the tent and pay later

At most Ontario Parks you’ll need to book ahead of time, at least from May-September. There are a few parks in the far north where you may get lucky pulling up to, but definitely not Killbear.
You can use the Ontario Parks reservation system for that.

Can you tell me what kind of tent you are using? I've been looking for something just like this. Thank you!

Absolutely. It’s a Treeline Redwood Constellation.
