Absolute nonsense! This is very typical of a bear getting inside and then getting stuck or spooked. I had a bear do the exact same thing to my Honda Element about 8-9 years ago. Mine was totaled. No food in mine either.

@@antoniofauxuci174 Yep, 100% correct on that. My point was that this is for sure the result of a bear inside the car and not some faked insurance claim.

If you’re going to Tahoe, don’t be too afraid, depending on where you are, it’s likely you may see some bears. One ranger last month told us they he had not heard of any at Emerald Bay yet, but that they for sure were seen a lot at Sugar Pine Point. Can buy an air horn if you want something to scare one off if you encounter one in the daytime, they are usually pretty skittish and not aggressive towards humans if you keep your distance.
What's that announcer on the left laughing about, this isn't a cute story, or a sports story where everyone has to smile and show all their teeth? I think these TV people all go to the same school, they all act just the same.

They did all the right things and still had problems.
What did they do to the bear? Normally we only see this kind of destruction when you have done something to make them mad... just saying folks
Almost zero chance that this was a bear retaliating against something. Bears are smart....but not THAT smart. These all occur with no people around and generally at night. Bears will break into a car (in my case, my Honda Element) In pursuit of food or what they THINK is food. In my case, the Ranger who took the report said the bear probably mistook the large toolbox in the cargo area for a cooler. (or even a "Pic-A-Nik basket")
