Jay is a class act. You can see the talk show host in him coming out with the questions he asks but they are usually really good questions! You also see his humor come out from being a stand up comedian where he is a legend just like in the car world. Good dude for sure.
I would've reacted the same way. As a "Ford guy" myself; pure sacrilege. Could've easily put a Rousch stroker crate motor in it, IMO. That said, as they say, the customer is always right.
@John C The spring didn't have enough clearance and was interfering with the panhard bar. Jay says it in the video and you get a close-up shot of the witness marks.
This is to the Ringbrothers, that car is amazing. Also I thought that something going wrong was so cool because it showed a part of what it takes to design a real ground up build!! Again I am glad Jay and you two brothers kept it authentic and didn't cut the problem solving part out, sometimes those are more fun then driving the actual car. Great job guys!!!!!
I’m really sad on how the 289-302 roller engine has been fading away do to the LS. The Roller 302 is such a bulletproof engine and it’s also compact that it’s a shame that it’s no longer used as much.
I've always loved the small block fords. Throttle response is so snappy. And just go and go no matter the abuse. My oldest brother had a 71 mach 1. Although was not a factory boss 302 it was when he got done with it. Never dyno'd it, but he did carry a fire extinguisher to put tires out after his burnouts😂😂😂
Unfortunately in 1979 or so he was a t a stop sign and a drunk smashed him from behind and totaled the car. Was sky blue with centerline's. He still has back pain from that accident.
Still a lot of Windsor folks out here. And the aftermarket really reflects it. The amount of after market parts you can get to build Serious power from a sbf Windsor these days is crazy. Problem with the 8.2" deck height Windsor (260, 289, and 302) is at about 500hp you're pretty much guaranteed to split the block in half. So you see more and more going to the 9.5" deck height Windsor (351) and the aftermarket blocks. I've heard stock block 9.5" is good for 700hp or so. A nice Dart brand 8.2" can get stroked out to 363ci and easily take 1500+hp. Is the Windsor as popular as the LS? No way. Do I feel like the Windsor is actually starting to get more popular than the small block Chevy (305,350)? Yeah... I kinda think it is.
That's so funny when they are talking about Ford and Chevy guys. I grew up a die hard GM fan, my dad is a GM fan, my uncle is a GM fan, and now it's 20 years later and someone was talking to me about how cool their Ford was the other day and I had an unreasonable reaction to it, haha. I kept thinking, "I'm an adult, where did that gut reaction come from." The rivalry runs deep, it really does. Now, all that being said, glad the Ford guys are out there!
I live in Tucson AZ and at a car show some time ago I viewed a little white 65 Mustang coupe tucked away in the corner of the show. Some old guy sitting next to it. It was not a show car by any strech but everything looked like it was there. Well everything was there except the engine and trans. Pop the hood and there tucked neatly in place was an LS engine from the Corvette complete with the Corvette Covers. The funny thing is the guy even kept the skinny oringinal size tires! Turnes out the Chevy motor fits in there almost better than the little 289. So the guy had a "stock" Corvette Engine and manual trans in a stock Mustang. but now the Mustang was a 400 hp tire ripper!
+Ken J .....my '68 (which is bigger...I know, I know) has a 408 Windsor making 520 hp (with a single 4 barrel) which fits perfectly and destroys D.O.T. street drag race tires.

lol At the first sound, I thought spring binding, I used to race desert cars so I have heard it a lot. Then shortly after, when it made the sound again & it continued, I thought nope, that can't be a spring. Then I thought drive shaft, U joint, axle, something driveline. lol I should just quit trying to think, I get myself in trouble to often. :) Love that car. If I had the money, I would get something like this for a regular driver over an exotic any day. Great classic look with just enough custom & US made parts. I always loved this vid and Jay's reaction to the Chevy engine being in a Mustang. The funny thing is, that's what I'd want my dream car setup to be. 1969 "Boss 302" Mustang with an LS3.
Ross Rossiter handling is not always about the twisties. It’s also about the ‘feel’ and confidence a vehicle inspires when man and machine merge. I think that’s what Jay was alluding to.

jeez that engine bay is so well done, that whole thing is just so well put together, was really great to see it on the lift and see that the cleanliness and quality of build all over the car.
The stock '65 looked too narrow. This looks better & meaner.
65 coupe yes, the 65 fastback was nice
These guys are masters, their aesthetics are second to none.
Jay with the ring brothers are always the best videos, you can tell they just really jive together.
They just....JIBE...THAT'S the way you spell it
I watch a man doing what he really loves... Perfect
Ok this really helps during corona virus love jays show
Wow! Absolutely Brilliant. The Ringbrothers are one of my all time favorite car builders. Their cars are a work of art.
What i dont like about this car is the fact that is not in my garage right now. These guys are tremendously talented.
Sounds wicked, love Jay Leno's Garage. You gotta come tour our shop Jay.
Isn't that the Nissan R ?
lol At the first sound, I thought spring binding, I used to race desert cars so I have heard it a lot. Then shortly after, when it made the sound again & it continued, I thought nope, that can't be a spring. Then I thought drive shaft, U joint, axle, something driveline. lol I should just quit trying to think, I get myself in trouble to often. :)
Love that car. If I had the money, I would get something like this for a regular driver over an exotic any day. Great classic look with just enough custom & US made parts. You aren't going to get an unexpected repair bill of $12,438.22 for some part you have never heard of & aren't even sure what it does.
What a beautiful car, nice to see the bugs knocked out of that rear end towards the end of the video. Beautiful vehicle.
Jay does it quite often. Calls it the shake down drive. Gives a chance to find things that could go wrong, such as the spring rubbing.
The engine in this Mustang is complete sacrilege. I love all the new carbon fiber panels. I like the HRE wheels. They appear to be the Singer of old Mustangs. Thanks.
my God that is a beautiful Mustang good job , job well done !!
Dam seeing this one again makes me realize just how well and fast jay loves to drive
right up till I heard it had chevy motor I wanted it so bad. ring brothers!!!!!!! you guys still build amazing cars.....
That’s one good looking corvette
10:23 Jay's a savage
10:15
Japan called they want there "R" back.
😂😂😂😂
And Audi wants their supercharged badge back too
FORD DID IT FIRST!!!!
their*
Lol, I was thinking it looks like a Nissan GT-R’ s emblem
23:00 Lapd's pacing jay
I need to just spend a day working along side these amazing people. Sooo make talent and great ability. I'm sure they are worth a couple million dollars!
Top-notch state-of-the-art build. I do have a question though, did anyone else notice the misfire during idle and when he brought up the RPM's it misfired again? Not sure exactly the time on the video but go back and listen to it it's easy to hear.
I absolutely appreciate the can do attitude of jay and the ring brothers! Keep it coming guys!
I want to hear that guy say "Da Bears".
I have no idea if I love or hate this car.
I'm a Chevy man Jay, and you raised my blood pressure (69 years old) with that last burn out !! --- Wonderful job Ringbrothers !! Now ,I'd like to see it with a Ford motor for a comparison differential boy's !?? Now I'm going to check out the 1966 Chevy Chevelle Recoil . Jay Leno's Garage is Great Jay ! I've followed you for the beginning of your career,Proud of you Jay, a devoted follower from Connecticut.
Shut up you cringy old man..
I loved that investigating the problem portion towards the end.
Not to be taken ominously, but I hope more issues occur in future episodes.
this car would have cost a bomb to make! 100% carbon fibre!
The Carbon Fiber Body itself costs about $37,565.00 last I checked!...God Bless!
David J. Smith Wow, I saw a series about how carbon fiber is made and you can see why it's so expensive.
The sound of the fuel pumps would drive me mental.
+rubbiebubbie I think that was bad audio from the wireless microphones, it sounded like interference, maybe not grounded. it has happened to me in the past when making videos
Is that what it is? Drives me nuts, too.
I thought it was the blower or blower belt
Me too love the car but would definitely have to change that fuel pump
I love Ford, but accept the Chevy engine. Sadly I know all these guys saying "just accept it" to the guys that are against it would flip out if it was a Chevy with a Ford motor in it.
Nobody ever wants to downgrade, they upgrade. That's why Chevy motors stay in Chevy vehicles and are installed in Ford vehicles as well.
Matthew shots fired lol
@@MJKircher1221 the only reason there used is price, the coyote is just as capable of the power and with more revs and tech but are about 5 times the price to get one
That is a real beast. Great workmanship too. Respect.
Jay - you showing us a different flavor of an Americana classic, well done, and the Ring Brothers are absolutely Master Design-o-Craftsmen. Thank you Sir!
Yep, not a true Mustang. It would have ran into those parked cars if it was.
Man are you ever rite I had a new 65 mustang fast back red in color and it had a 390 two 4's it would break lose all the time.Kinda telling my age here Ha.....
Maybe for u if u don't know how drive a muscle car so stick with the Prius & hondos 😸
@@gtx-808 Never owned a Import POS
even with a 5.4 or 4.6 dohc ford motor they are just so torquey , LS Motors in mustangs are A ok by me
@@steveshoemaker6347 so it's confirmed then the mustang loves to hit crowds
Huge flaw above the windshield, very visible, what's up with that?
theparttimewoodworker
Right on the edge at the top center of the windshield. It looks like the trim seam, but it shouldn't show like that, not when you're spending that much on a custom rod. I even double checked it, just to make sure I was seeing right?
+Moon Hitsearth What times in the video can you see it?
weirdstuffanimation7
About 16 minutes 20 seconds right above the O in ringbrothers, on the edge of the green.
+Moon Hitsearth 16:22 FTFY
+Moon Hitsearth Good eye!
Mustangs with a V6 is not a real Mustang just an illusion
amen
??? Good 4 U
Nathan Nesen yep V-6 a Secretarys car V-8 The Boss
Frederick Giordani I thought you're last name was Ford but since it isn't, your opinion doesn't matter!
Frederick Giordani Boy that joke was super lame.
I stay out of these comment fights, but this is the coolest classic car I've seen yet. These guys are better than Pagani of Italy
wow they really did a good job on the colors, design etc good job
Man those Ring brothers build some nice rides. My favorite was the Javelin. But I wonder if Jay ever gets pulled over for no plates at all on the car?
A chevy engine...
It only costs a little more to go FIRST CLASS Ring brothers!!
This is one of the coolest Leno's Garage I've seen. Jay is a mans man for sure.
Amazing.these two brothers have done it again.
This car has a classic-era JDM look to it.
I agree. Looks like a 70's Nissan GT-R badge on the grille too.
Lol it needs a huge turbo and a built 2jz
@@yugiohtcgunsealed7123 There's a late 60s Camaro with a 2JZ swap, pushing 1K HP, b and it's a MONSTER!
65 Mustang and 67 Camaro are the best looking cars in the world ever, its a proven fact.
69 Z is better.
1987 ford escort, yowza!
63 E type
E type, D type and XKSS
I always loved this vid and Jay's reaction to the Chevy engine being in a Mustang. The funny thing is, that's what I'd want my dream car setup to be. 1969 "Boss 302" Mustang with an LS3.
Jay's video make me feel like i know something bout cars EVEN though i know NOTHUNG ! ! !
Jay you have the best gig.... damn
would love to see finn and dave bring Blashemi and F-Bomb
I thought he said the transmission was a bowler in the beginning or was he just joking?
The Ring Brothers are over the top second to none. Such beautiful work. Chevy engine, no problem
Oh my! The customer that commissioned the build would be clutching his chest at those burnouts🤣😜
" it really handles" he says, going dead straight on the freeway
Ross Rossiter handling is not always about the twisties. It’s also about the ‘feel’ and confidence a vehicle inspires when man and machine merge. I think that’s what Jay was alluding to.
that is a badass stang and im way ok with the bowtie under the hood. well done cheers
+Jeremiah R. Probably because they have a deal with GM.
+Jeremiah R.
Figment: the coyote is significantly wider than an LS engine
Foose just fit a Coyote into a '65 Mustang in the second to last Overhaulin' episode.
+Larry Smith Foose is right for putting a nice engine in the Stang. This car WAS nice until they put a Chevy engine. A Ferrari would be less of an insult.
+Chris Daigle It would be an insult to Enzo Ferrari to pit one of he's engines in a yank-tank
What a beautiful machine.
This is still the greatest video ever. 800LBS car!?!??!!!
