Luke is literally the most adorable baby ever! I love the vlogs! It's so cool to see the behind the scenes of the Super Carlin Brothers! Keep Going! :)
I moved into a house that just didn't *quite* fit a coffee table, and yes I love not having a place for my junk but missed having a place my for my coffee (well tea). My solution is little side tables on either side of the couch. Less space for junk and just the right space for a mug and plate!
I am also recently coffee table-less to make room for baby stuff. I've found a combination of side tables and a small ottoman does the job. Easy to rearrange as necessary while keeping the center of the room clear.
I agree, but a small side table, so there is not room for visible clutter. Oh I miss when I had babies who would laugh at silly faces and "boo". They grow up so quickly. I am glad Beth will have time at home to enjoy him!!
I know I'm kind of late to comment, but I want you to know that I love you guys. I love these vlogs because they are proof that stable loving families can and do exist! And no matter what I or my friends go through you and Beth still love each other. I can also appreciate how close you are to Ben. I worried about y'all during the latest hurricane. So to summarize: Thank you! Thank you for being the bright spot in my otherwise tired world!
@@SuperCarlinBrothers awww thats sooo cute i love it when babies start crawling but then you start to feel like they are growing up too fast as soon as they try/start to walk
For the coffee table: get a very small side table for next to the couch! Small enough that it fits your coffee and looks not too bad. Just means you have to sit near it but that’s not too hard lol. Good luck and love you guys! Luke’s rolling around and giggles were the absolute cutest in this!
Luke looks so long. My gosh he is getting so big. And as for the coffee table, I don't have one but I have side tables. Much better and babies are less apt to knock their little noggins on them. Love you guys and Luke is still a little doll.
For my family, we have nesting end tables. So when we need more space to say sit on the couch and have coffee next to us, we just pull one end table out of the nesting end table and when we need the space to be more open we just put it back in the nesting end table. I do not know if this makes sense, but if you look up nesting end tables it makes more sense! Great video!! :)
I actually got rid of my coffee table when my son was about a year old because he was learning to walk and kept hitting his head on it. He is almost 3 now and I don’t really miss having one. I find if you just have a small end table by the couch it’s more than enough space for a few drinks and is out of the way.
Yes, I'm pro no coffee table. it's sometimes a problem but I just set a coaster on the floor with my cup. As long as you don't have to worry about someone kicking or grabbing it. Its so nice not to have all the clutter plus it makes the room feel so much smaller! So much more room without it. I have been intrigued by some of these really tiny "coffee tables" that basically just are a tray/shelf that fit on the arm of the couch or right up to the cushion? This would not take up much space and would also prevent clutter as they're really only big enough for a couple cups or a plate.
Coffeetableless life here! I often put the coffeemug on the ground, but I don't have a mug. You can consider buying just one of those small round tables, you know, the kind that has a basket underneath and you can lift the top and put stuff in there? That size. It's more than enough to put your coffee on & maybe a small plate with cake, but not enough for stuff to get cluttered on there.
We don't have a coffee table either (gave it up when we moved to a smaller apartment with our baby) as it was on the way all the time. But what I found useful was a smaller table at the side of our couch that we could fold. Kinda like a folding table meets end table. It's not taking space when we are not using it, hence not collecting stuff, but its useful for those times we want to pile popcorn or something else on it while being in the living room.
There are trays for sale that have a soft underside so they adapt to any surface. Just make sure it is straight when putting coffee on it. But those you can put on your lap to eat as well without burning your thighs ;-) ! Love your and SCB vid's ! keep up the great work
I live with out a coffee table and what you do is get an end table small enough were it doesn't get cluttered and big enough were it can hold your coffee
We have a coffee table in our house. I really like it because it's unique in that it has a glass top that overlooks a shallow, black felt-covered drawer which I am currently using to display a puzzle that I put together. It would also be cool to display maps or photos or pretty much anything short enough to fit in the drawer. We use it mostly for setting drinks on, though I also keep my laptop on it for easy access.
We went coffee-tabless a few years back, we have a love seat/dual recliner type deal but it has cup holders. And excellent invention. And at our main couch we use a storage ottoman that doubles as a table when you flip the lid it has a similar set up to your tray but a lot more sturdy from what I gathered in your situation. Hope this helps with any ideas, love your stuff man!
My dog was very big and very clumsy so before he was even a year old I ditched the coffee table. Didn’t have one the 11+ years he was alive and doubt I will again. Instead I got very small versatile side tables because I usually had a couch and one or more chairs do they would go between those things or in a corner. The one I used and liked best was actually called an entry way table it was taller and had a tiny drawer and wasn’t big enough to become a catchall like a coffee table often will. Another I liked but broke was a vintage table with a rack underneath to hold a blanket and a built in lamp, it was awesome. Good luck in search for a place to put the coffee, hope this helps 🤓
My family has never owned a Coffee Table (our house layout is not compatible with having one) and until recently we didn't have any other kind of table in the living room either so drinks were always set precariously on the floor haha.... Though like others are saying acquiring an End Table is the solution to your woes. They are smaller and put against the walls near the couch arms so Luke will still having his crawling space and you will have a solid surface for your cups. Amazing video. You guys could use end tables for coffee. They are smaller and less likely to get cluttered. Or if space is an issue you could get TV tables the ones that fold so you can have them out when you need them and fold them up when you don't. I hope that helps. Another great video J! I’m not a fan of coffee tables because I feel they take up too much space, and they cause the room to have less space for young kids (such as Luke) to play
lol, my living room has 2 coffee tables lined up end to end, despite the fact that we rarely use the couch as anything other than a second guest bed. maybe a smaller side table would be helpful or just keep on tray-ing
as for the coffee table conundrum, maybe get a small side table and put it on the carpet by the side of the couch so that it isn't in the way and it's small enough that you can only really afford to have your coffee mugs on it
we've never had a coffee table we just use these foot tall wooden squares that are super easy and portable if your on the couch and need to put a drink down you just get a square and put it away when your done. its super simple and cuter free.
@@boosey06 You might be able to use one of those side tables that fits over the arm of the couch so it doesn't take up too much space. If you aren't sure what I mean you can google image search 'side table that goes over couch' for a better frame of reference. I really hope this can help you in some way.
We got rid of our coffee table when our oldest started getting mobile. When I found her attempting to climb on top of it. It was a glass coffee table. Our kids are almost 11 and 14 and we haven't had one since. For setting coffee down we either use a TV tray or set down a mug on our small ottoman.
We moved our coffee table out of the living room to our spare bedroom so we could put a footstool from my parents by the couch. So instead of putting coffee on the coffee table, we use some collapsible tray tables. They fold up nicely onto a small stand in the corner by the TV, but they're sturdy enough for when we need them.
Since we moved to a smaller place we haven't used our coffee table... in almost a year. We have a couple of end tables & still manage to fill them with clutter lol
My family also lives the coffee-table-less life. It makes the room look less crowded, but it also has the problem of where to put food and drink. I think we make it work. Overall I'm a fan of no coffee table

Hubs built us a sofa table when our LO was a baby. Keeps everything out of their reach when they start pulling up since it’s behind the back of the couch. Look into it. It’s parental life changing
One day when I have my own place I will probably live the coffee table-less life. In my parents house the living room is so big that there is plenty of room for a kid to play in front of the coffee table. I personally think that the only reason we still have the coffee table is it’s like a family heirloom. Like it was my great grandmother’s then it was my grandma’s & after my grandma died it became my mom’s & she refuses to get rid of it even though it so old & falling apart. I just know that my mom is very strict about her coffee table & it gets on guests nerves. 1. Don’t sit on the coffee table 2. Don’t put your drink on it without a coaster 3. Don’t stand on the coffee table 4. Don’t put your feet on the coffee table I can’t wait to have no coffee table. Like I love my grandmas coffee table because there’s a lot of memories but i don’t like getting yelled at if I go anywhere near it ya know? Just ugh. & I just know that one day it’s going to be mine & I’m going to yell at so many people like my mom does. Aggravating
Oh and we ditched our coffee table on the first kid and we now have four kids, it can be done! Mostly by having corner tables that are tucked away so babies cannot get to it. Also kids and adults enjoyed rolling on the floor immensely
To replace coffee table look for a small end table or two something that might fit at end of sofa ... got rid of my coffee table and keep end tables that were big enough for a drink or remote but can put too much “stuff” on it
We don't even have a sofa or a TV. 😂 Never owned a coffee table. Our main room has the kitchen, a dining area, and the space that will be our living space once we finish moving in is going to be left sofaless. We plan to have it a play space for our kids (1 year old and I'm 9 weeks pregnant) and to clear the toys and replace with pillows and blankets for movies. We have a sofa in baby's room for now so I have somewhere to breastfeed, and he has a storage table in there so he can eventually do crafts and build things there when he is a bit bigger. We just feel like having a TV and sofa would make it too easy to spend hours there instead of doing engaging activities as a family, like board games or playing with toys together. If my partner and I want to watch things we just get the laptop out at the dining table or chill on the bed.
We have no coffee table and use a stand that sits over an arm on our couch really snugly but it works really well and doesn’t have any sharp edges to child proof
We don't have a cofee table (since we have a big fluffy rug that wouldn't be stable) but we do have side tables and these sorta trays for the sofa? They're like wooden flat surfaces that you can put on the sofa (It's L shaped so we have a lot of room) and the wood is in strips connected with some sort of fabric so they can bend over the edge of the sofa. They're really handy for mugs and stuff, so you could look into that :) love the vlogs. Since I follow your insta, I'm a few weeks ahead but this is a great medium :)
We haven't used a coffee table in 10+ years. Its amazing but you have to get end tables. They work so much better for looks and room

If my partner and I want to watch things we just get the laptop out at the dining table or chill on the bed.
Can’t wait to see the Disney world vlog!!!
I have a little coffee table next to the couch. It is like really small for some cups. And it use space that you don’t normally walk.
Coffee table is essential for watching SuperCarlinBrothers videos while eating dinner in front of the TV.
danbert87 that was always us before Luke 😂 well not watching SCB but something 😂😂
Get smaller coffee table for the side of the couch. You can move it if you need to.. Works great! Plus, less space to set junk!!!
