    Dude, the pushback is not against the statement. It's against the notion that it still needs to be said. Like you said...we all already know this. Yawn. We don't like race-baiters, it takes us backwards.

      @@watertaaooo Exactly. Zimmerman gets off, we say black matter, ppl call it race-baiting. These ppl can never get it right. From slavery to reconstruction, jim crow, redlining, affirmative action, police brutality, and mass incarceration, and still, they choose to be ignorant. But if we waited for them we would still be in chains. It takes violence to move forward it seems. Thank God for the civil war.

    What continually was missed in this conversation back in 2020 by those trying to justify BLM (thus, BLM didn't age well), is that we KNEW the organization was-bare minimum-suspect. The principle being distinct from the organization didn't help in the discourse because the principle is self-evident (as Thabiti said, but he doesn't treat it as such... like the movement). The resulting problem is that the dialogue accidentally *needs* racism to be systemic in order to be a value. And since no one wants to lay down their anti-racist values, the principle cannot be allowed to prevail-to the left who press BLM and the alleged "principle." The solution works like this-stop tying Christian social justice to obviously fleshly movements (an attempt at justification by law, which is *another* "gospel"), and depend entirely on the sufficient solution provided in the word (God's gospel solution because actual racism is a heart issue), particularly Paul's instruction for the churches.

    Maybe the reason Systematic Theology’s don’t focus on race is because race is not a biblical category. It is a social construct. The biblical category though is the human race. And in the human race u are either “in Adam” or “in Christ.” This is not to say there are not different ethnicities, nations and people’s but for those in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek!!!!

      Sir, I have a question. If "race" is not a biblical category and merely a "social construct," is this "social construct" a reality or not a reality? If it is a reality, and people are actually discriminated on these racial categories, do believers speak towards it (to denounce it), or ignore it? If it is not a reality, then what should Christians think of Apartheid South Africa? I hope you have a good week, friend.

    • @wilsondikgale5823
      @wilsondikgale5823 3 роки тому +1

      Doesn't mean that is always the reality lived out. People forget Paul called Peter out for discriminating against non-Jews as not being "in step with the Gospel". So yes, there is a time to confront racial intolerance IN the Gospel of Christ

      Systematic theology is just a book about the Bible and therefore useful to a degree

    • @joshperez6628
      @joshperez6628 2 роки тому

      CJ, not maybe. Absolutely! Rather than understanding the systematicians as being ignorant of these matters (or subtly suggesting they kept quite to advance there "racist" agenda) it's best to assume that the obvious reason this category wasn't included in their dogmatics was because it simply does not exist. I don't think however that we should ignore the way people are using to term race these days. We can adopt their language for the sake of interaction but we must always make clear the biblical and unbiblical structures involved. The imago dei is the only sufficient starting and ending point for understanding the value of men women and children from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

    Professor Walter Williams, Chairman of the Economics department at George Mason University, has said that the first step in stopping racism is to stop continually talking about it. I have heard so many people wanting to have a "dialogue" about race and it always ends up them blaming me for things I have never done. Treat me as an individual, not as a member of a group. That is what I do to you. Why aren't you willing to do that to me?

      @@mydh122 For sure. Your comment quoted Walter Williams who said “the first step in stopping racism is to stop continually talking about it.” It seems as though, and I could be wrong, that you agree with that quote. A huge issue with this is that people who agree with this statement would NEVER say the same thing about rape, pride, abortion, etc. This, what I just mentioned is inconsistent.
      I don’t know if your a Christian or not, but I believe all of these things mentioned, rape, abortion, racism etc. are sin issues. If we say “we must stop talking about racism in order to help end it” then we must say the same thing about rape, abortion, etc.
      Ask yourself this, should we stop talking about the sin of pride so it can fade away? If the answer is no, why do it with racism?

    This is just another institution of the social gospel. Anyabwile's treatment of scripture is eisegetical as opposed to exegetical. For example note his mention of the prophets, which was offensive, assuming people who don't hold to his ideology can't read their bibles. It is obvious that he is reading these narratives through a "woke" lens. I don't ascribe to his woke ideology and I think I can read my bible (granted their is room for improvement).
    I'm reading Ezekiel right now and the main theme is idolatry not "social injustice." Any injustices mentioned such as failing do use proper scales, failing to take care of widows and orphans, doing murder, adultery, defrauding one's neighbor are couched within Israel's failure to hold God as Holy. There is a top down approach, failure to properly worship results in injustice. Anyabwile flips it so that "injustices, political dramas, etc" are primary and no wonder because this is the flavor of the month. This reminds me of what libs do when they read their naturalism back onto the NT. Jesus deity is removed in favor of political figure-hood, Jesus is no longer the creator of the world but some revolutionary who was unjustly, imprisoned, tried and killed. Sure we might say that is partially true, Jesus's views were revolutionary, he was unjustly tried and killed but there were theological underpinnings that can not be ignored.
