We have two existences: physical & mental. Similarly there are two objects in our consideration: body and mind. Mind has consciousness, but body has extension. We feel bodily pain or pleasure when our mental events affect us. Similar is true about mental and physical events. But the question is how these two events are related to one another. There are many theories like Interactionism, Parallelism, Identity Theory etc. These theories tried to explain the relation between our mental events and physical events. One among these theories is the theory of Parallelism as stated by rationalist philosopher Spinoza. In this Episode we tried to present a critical appreciation of this view for the students. Some important lines are underlined for the attention of the students. Hope this discussion would be really beneficial to them if they study it thoroughly with apt attention. Thank you.
