    I used your phone app courses to study for the tests. Took the Technician and General tests last night and passed both easily, just waiting on my callsign. Keep up the good work. 73, to all.

    I got my extra in 1982 and was on some of the ham bands but ended upgoing the commercial route as there were more opportunities and frequencies available for my specific use.

    Hey Jim. I Was inspired to look into ham a little over a week ago. I found Ham Radio Prep and I signed up for all 3 levels last week. I studied the Technician for a couple days and was confident enough to contact my local club and scheduled the test for last night. By the time I got into the General I figured I’d test for technician only. Last night I walked in and because I practice tested for both and averaged near 85% I decided to test for General too and passed both!
    I joined Maryland Mobileers and will meet the club this Friday night. I will definitely be testing for Amateur Extra in the next month or 2. Thanks!

    Excellent way to get prepared for testing. I used this course to get both my Technician and General and aced both. There would have been NO way I could have done this without this comprehensive course. Thank you Jim and crew!

    I used the paid ham radio prep app to study & was able to test/pass the tech & the general exams the same week.
    The app’s practice tests & videos made it much easier to learn the formulas/correct answers.
    FYI-I am a 47yr old High school drop out, that never attended college & hasn’t studied anything in 20+ years…so if I can study, test & pass…so can you😋.

    When i got my license in 1978 it was a "technician plus" license. I think the difference was with pluse I had to be able to do 10wpm not just 5wpm.
    Do you, or any of your followers remeber that license, or what happened to it?

    • @HamRadioPrep
      @HamRadioPrep  2 місяці тому

      The Technician Plus license class for ham radio was discontinued in 2000, and existing licenses were converted to Technician class licenses

    Can't seem to find a testing location in my area. I'm going to have to set up an online.

    • @HamRadioPrep
      @HamRadioPrep  Рік тому +1

      Virtual testing is a great way to take the test if there's nowhere to do it in person! Also helps to get rid of a lot of the test stressors, since you're at home.

      @HamRadioPrep Thanks for sharing this information. I am looking forward to taking the test after this comment. I thought it would be a hard to accomplish task. Where does one start the journey to set up the testing virtualy?

    My father was a ham way back. In those days learning Morse Code was a requirement. Is that requirement totally gone now?

    • @HamRadioPrep
      @HamRadioPrep  10 місяців тому

      That requirement is totally gone! All you need to do is pass the exam. Still tons of people operating Morse Code, so definitely something to look at!

      @HamRadioPrep Aaaah, no wonder more peep got license now, that's definitely easy mode.
      Probally for the best. FCC was wanting to take, er, reassign Ham bands in 1978. FCC using the lack of interest as a reason to reassign frequencies. Thank you for replying.

    What about Novice and Advanced?

    • @HamRadioPrep
      @HamRadioPrep  Рік тому +1

      We didn't cover those because they are not available to new hams. People on those license levels are grandfathered.
