Small correction at the start. Abraham moved around and was referred to as the Habara or Hebrew (the one to pass across) several times. You can find this if you read the texts in Hebrew. It didn't refer to a river crossing, just to pass across from one area to an other. In English he might have been referred to as the great traveller.

This is utter nonsense. It tries to rationalise and explain a mythological origin story. 1. It presumes Genesis is real history when we know it is not, indeed cannot be. 2. There was never a real Abraham, as described in Genesis. It is biologically impossible for one man to be the beginning of so many very different groups of people over a vast region within the time frame given. 3. The story itself actually tells us that other people lived in the land. The first reference is to the Canaanites but there is no racial or linguistic difference between them and the later Israelites,. In fact archaeology has uncovered a continuity of cultures and religious practice suggesting the Israelites were an offshoot of the Canaanites. 4. Hebrew does not mean from across the great river. It comes from a semitic root word meaing 'across' or 'beyond' and could refer to mountains, deseert or any obstacle.. 5. It is foolish to think that Abraham's children and grand-children gave rise to the occupants of the regions listed, plus the whole of Arabia whilst also accepting, as the story tells us, that other tribes already lived in the region and Egypt was already a known civilisation. 6. The Hyksos, were invaders of Egypt who settled in a part of the Nile delta and ruled for a period, as the 15th dynasty. The name comes from the Egyptian meaning 'ruler of foreign lands'. or 'foreign rulers'. 7. There is nothing in Genesis which says the Egyptians thought Abraham was Hyksos. That is an invention. 8. The etymology of Hyksos to mean shepherd kings is based solely upon the writing of Josephus but is no longer thought to be accurate as it relies upon a specific and much later Greek translation. 9. It's hard to reconcile the scriptures with other archeological findings from that period. During the time Abraham should have lived the dynasty of Ur already ended while the Chaldeans didn't appear yet so we probably interpret it wrongly. Abraham is supposed to live during the first Babylonian empire and Hammurabi (Biblical Amrafel of Sinear?/Nimrod?) and should have come somewhere in Hammurabi's domain or that certain local traditions are right and he came from Urkesh or Urfa in Mitannian lands (currently near Turkish-Syrian border), thus Harran would have been on the way to Canaan and not a detour.

I also read that when Nebuchadnezzar sacked Israel and destroyed the Temple, he took the whole of Israel captive and held them in Babylon. There they learned about a man called Utnapishtim who built a boat and survived the flood. When Cyrus the Great of Persia sacked Babylon he set the Jews free. They took the story back to Israel but changed the name of the hero to Noah to sound more Jewish. But then I read that when the Babylonians sacked Akkad they heard the story of Ziusudra who was the hero of the moment but changed his name to sound more Babylonian. This story actually goes back even further, but I wont elaborate in case it is just more rubbish. And wasn’t Abram the father of Ishmael and then Isaac? Doesn’t that make the Jews and the Arabs Semitic brothers? What a mix up for historians.

You are wrong ! Eber is only a nephew of Aram : Aram is Abraham' s direct ancestor (according biblic genealogy). It is clear in the Bible that Abraham is an Arameen from Ur, and Yahweh himself name him as an arameen. The origin of the word Hebrew is not clear, it could be habiru which confusing meaning is explained in the video.

Small correction at the start. Abraham moved around and was referred to as the Habara or Hebrew (the one to pass across) several times. You can find this if you read the texts in Hebrew. It didn't refer to a river crossing, just to pass across from one area to an other. In English he might have been referred to as the great traveller.

1. It presumes Genesis is real history when we know it is not, indeed cannot be.
2. There was never a real Abraham, as described in Genesis. It is biologically impossible for one man to be the beginning of so many very different groups of people over a vast region within the time frame given.
3. The story itself actually tells us that other people lived in the land. The first reference is to the Canaanites but there is no racial or linguistic difference between them and the later Israelites,. In fact archaeology has uncovered a continuity of cultures and religious practice suggesting the Israelites were an offshoot of the Canaanites.
4. Hebrew does not mean from across the great river. It comes from a semitic root word meaing 'across' or 'beyond' and could refer to mountains, deseert or any obstacle..
5. It is foolish to think that Abraham's children and grand-children gave rise to the occupants of the regions listed, plus the whole of Arabia whilst also accepting, as the story tells us, that other tribes already lived in the region and Egypt was already a known civilisation.

It's hard to reconcile the scriptures with other archeological findings from that period. During the time Abraham should have lived the dynasty of Ur already ended while the Chaldeans didn't appear yet so we probably interpret it wrongly. Abraham is supposed to live during the first Babylonian empire and Hammurabi (Biblical Amrafel of Sinear?/Nimrod?) and should have come somewhere in Hammurabi's domain or that certain local traditions are right and he came from Urkesh or Urfa in Mitannian lands (currently near Turkish-Syrian border), thus Harran would have been on the way to Canaan and not a detour.
