1:05:00 I believe the word you're looking for is "spontaneous". I feel honor being the 20th viewer of this interview. Great job with the interview Chase. Sandy's opinion is always fascinating to me (I am an engineer myself).
Chase! Great job interviewing Sandy Munro! I am showing your videos to Auto Tech Students next week. The students will be assigned to view Grid Connections & comment on the global perspective and how far behind US & EU are behind TSLA & Asia.
I am so grateful for the fact that I attended Benson Polytechnic high School in Portland Oregon. Talk about trades aviation, electrical, machine shop, you name it we had it and a whole lot of. I managed to found a company that built 30000 bicycles because I had that opportunity. bikeE!
I knew a German toolmaker who was despondent over the fact that there were few apprentices who were interested in the art. Even with the advent of CNC machine tools, you need to know how to make the part/s
We embraced the Toyota method at bikeE. And a few years later I work as a design engineer at Leatherman tool group when we were transitioning to lean thinking.
I'm a union electrician. I also have a philosophy degree. Been out of work for three weeks now. The coronacrisis is really taking a toll. Good trade. Management are still pricks.
When you ask stupid questions you get stupid answers, you did a really good job staying on message not asking stupid questions, brilliant interview Thank You, I hate when people waste good interview with stupid questions,
Sandy; your advice is gold. I share your opinion on VW; they learned their lesson on cheating reality. Now I see in them the only company that can compete with Tesla.
Hi all I went through Ford’s UK trade school in the 70’s I ended up via Nissan as first line at a famous international power train consultancy and now VP for a lube company and 18 plus years in China working with OEMs, now I am a Dinosaur this way no longer exits unfortunately
@ 12:00 I agree 100% Sandy and Mike Rowe would get along great. Our public education is designed to create office workers, and tends to cater to female strengths. Many young adults with university degrees cant even fix their own toilet. I am seriously afraid that when the baby boomers are all retired that we won't be able to deal with our own shit here in the USA (literally)!
Considering this channel only has 54 subscribers you must have a previous relationship with Sandy for him to take this time. As an Engineer myself I love listening to his analysis because from our industries perspective he is spot on.
Thanks Dave, glad you like it! We really enjoyed working with him previously hosting Autoline's breakdown of Tesla's Battery Day: ua-cam.com/video/jKrFAcNgG40/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title
Sandy, you are correct that schools don't produce tradesmen but it's not the schools pushing college. On this point you're dead wrong. As a high school guidance counselor I lectured on "The Irrational Quest For College" for years. It's the parents and politicians that are making these pushes. I constantly had my butt in the wringer for my opinion. Now, in California everybody is "college prep" by educational laws. It's the craziest damn thing. Please don't blame the schools or their personnel. We are on your side.
Chase - go research books about Deming find a good one and READ it. and perhaps deming.org charge time - adjust - don't obsess about it - charging at home and NEVER going to a gas station again - what more could you want.
@15:20 - No wonder this circuit failed. It says it's made in Japan - What do you mean Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan! - Unbelievable!!! For the remaining alive short sellers out there... Depending on your time horizon there is no ceiling to your losses... @38:55 I think what you're trying to say here is that their USP is crap!
True, the chemistry does play an important part at the cell level. However the improved cooling (horizontally vs vertically) and lower overall battery resistance does mean the battery will be able to hold at a certain charge rate longer before having to throttle down. Which will lead to a reduced total charge time for the total battery compared to the current battery tech.
@@Travlinmo The "max charge rate" will not improve. Most time spent Supercharging is not spent at max rate. Theoretically, as Grid Connections states, a higher charge rate may be able to be maintained for a longer time. Thus, total charge time for a given KW/H could be reduced in many situations.
Great (and terrible) comments from Sandy about teachers and schools, as Robert Kiyosaki said "fake teachers". This new era of bussines mentality to outsource almost everything to China in the last 20 years is going to move us into a difficult future. Listen several times these comments from Sandy.
The idea that an MBA should run a car company is flawed. Tesla is focused on design, efficiency, and quality with profit as the after effect. Starting from the objective of making a profit leads to compromises on quality and efficiency. Musk is more leader than manager. I have no doubt that he made management mistakes, but management mistakes can be fixed without damaging quality or efficiency. His staffing benefits from his focus on innovation and improvement. Engineers love challenges and he gives them plenty of challenges. Focusing on profit is fine for the bankers and investors, but it is a demotivater for engineers. Tell them to focus on quality and efficiency and stand back, they will deliver.
45:00. WRONG!!!!!!!!! The new batteries DO NOT charge faster. The charge rate is limited by a phenomena that results in Cathode (or is it Anode) plating. That was not solved. Charging rate is not the reason for tabless design. Lower cost, faster production rate, higher energy density, lighter battery pack, and doubles as structural component are the benefits of new dry cell battery tech.
The cells allegedly do not charge at a higher rate but due to lower resistance from the tabless design (which greatly reduces heat build up) and the overall better thermal management of the cars with 4680 cells by using cooling plates on the bottom and probably the top versus the current system of running coolant parallel to the cells. The battery pack as a whole should charge at 250 kW much longer before it begins to taper down. Which would result in a faster charging experience for the driver.
Sandy's idea to make 3 wheeler vehicles use Tesla parts might not work as Elon ones crashed archimotos vehicle in test ride and since then Elon considers 3 wheeler as too dangerous

You did an excellent job interviewing Sandy. You asked really great questions and then just let him talk uninterrupted. Thank you!
100% Great questions. You have a talent.
Agreed, great interviewer.
I came her from 'Solving The Money Problem' and this channel is a little gem. Subscribed ! 🙂
So did I 😉😊👍
Me too. Every time he features something with Sandy, I go straight to the description and watch the source^^
Same same. He's Steven Mark Ryan, and he loves you all!
Me as well, anyone who gets to interview Munro gets my views.
So. did I, this channel definitely deserves more views. I've subscribed.
"The luxury of adversity" Another Sandy Munro gem. Great interview! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
this video deserve a lot more view.
Thanks Yu! We're very grateful for getting to have Sandy on the podcast and we're really excited for our scheduled upcoming guests.
Great interview and questions
Thanks for letting Sandy talk without interruptions
I can’t get enough of Sandy! Such an intelligent man.
And the stories of him dealing with the less intelligent:]
Came here from Solving the Money problem , great interview .
Me too, agreed
Me Three !!!

I'd love to talk to you Sandy about my experiences in manufacturing and Taiwan and China
Great interview! Love this guy
First time watching your channel. Came for the Sandy Munro content from STMP but will definitely check out your backlog.
This core competency thing.I remember meetings with the CEO explaining this. We basically, sold everything we had and killed the company.
Great King Canute Reference Sandy!
I'm a union electrician. I also have a philosophy degree. Been out of work for three weeks now. The coronacrisis is really taking a toll. Good trade. Management are still pricks.
I want to become a union electrician. I worried that the 'Rona would take out that field for a while.

I think part of what Tesla accomplished on the behalf of the world is showing great electric cars are possible. Other automakers cannot deny it.

Very enjoyable interview. Thank you and new sub :0)

Any chance you could put in another chime at the beginning of your videos. Great interviews work👍😃
Good stuff, thank you.

Awesome, thank you!
8:40 the time hè explained where to find the paper haha.he could have gotten it himself in that time. What a genuine guy
Funny enough, he actually ended up going to get it but couldn’t find it in the end and I edited that part out.
1:11:20 He does say he "studies the blade".
Sandy maybe has read Judy Woods book Where did the towers go? Directed energy and microwave technology.

I didn't say anything but was thinking of that same scene from Back to The Future when he said that.
Chase - Charging is chemistry limited. The new cell design does not speed up charging. This was clarified on the last earnings call.

@RCdiy Will tab-less allow for faster charging? The new cells have so many layers, it's a complex topic. Form factor, tab-less, anode, cathode, etc.
@@lobotomite3248 I recommend Tesla’s last earnings call. They said no, generally, for the new battery and faster charging.

Sandy is a really interestimg guy. Makes me uneasy sometimes.
Sandy doesn't like Harvard Whiz Kids.
No dislikes???
VW has so many software problems. They may be able to make through??
May I say that you’re very handsome
Good interview. Please lose that awful intro music next time.

WTF with this music, can't focus on what you are talking.
