Yes, but León in the original is much stronger than León in the remake, by far since he was a prodigy and received another type of training and had greater mental maturation than the remake, He never developed a trauma and was a top secret agent, whereas the one in the remake was a random, he never had talent and was a scared kitten until he met Krauser who trained him and improved him somewhat. but he was traumatized by his past, that León is more realistic , more serious and more similar to Chris Redfield, maybe that will make him appear in future installments because the original León was a superhuman
I think my issue with the remake's cutscenes is that they are paced too quickly. There's no time for tension, and most dialogue feels like it's being forced through rather than played up with any degree of severity. A lot of the VA in the remake feels phoned in or just delivered too quickly to feel in any way impactful. The general gameplay of the Remake has been pretty good so far in my playthrough, but the experience is broken down quite a bit by how rushed everything feels. It's quite a bit like RE3 Remake/RE2 Remake in that regard, where it feels like the original with some things missing and a lot zipped over quickly. I mean, honestly, if having this good of visuals means the game is rushed to hell and back like this... then I don't think it's worth it. I'd have rather had RE4 Remake with about RE2 Remake's visual level but with more care taken than the more beautiful visuals it has now but with all of the heart and pacing sucked out. Kind of a shame. But I guess after how many people glossed over RE2 Remake's flaws... I guess I'm not surprised they could get away with it here as well. All they had to do for most was pass the very low bar of beating RE3 Remake and reach close to RE2 Remake's "just breaking the minimum bar" and then it basically would be deemed a "good" remake, I guess? Idk, I'm not too surprised, I guess.
It's very rushed sadly, I noticed two of the game bosses transformations are gone... Just look at the mendez fight, big explosion and suddenly the transformed version spawns in, while in the original you could see the whole burning, slow transformation etc... Also in salazar boss fight, he goes off screen because they don't have the time to make the transformation, and just make him show up after. It's details like these that just show how rushed the game is, I'm yet to find many others
Finally someone who talks about this, there is a lot of talking shit and tell you someone who gets carried away by nostalgia and defending the Remake calling it a work of art, a better remake than Dead Space, etc, pure nonsense , but they sold us something that literally "could be better"
It's not that I don't feel it, it's missing a boss there, and they didn't even add one to replace U3's position in Leon's route, add more sections? Etc? (They didn't even do that on a large scale, they just respected the original too much by redesigning the old sections of the original despite several cuts and therein lies the problem) I'm not looking to improve everything, add new things, gameplays like Shinji did with the mines at the time and where unfortunately he was more limited with the console, but they don't give a shit right? Well, fuck that, they didn't add it because it involved more work or they were lazy, they cut out a boss, it's that simple, no matter how many sections you add it's not the same as a Boss, and one so scarce of strong bosses like RE4 specifically , even the other thing you tell me, if true, adding U3 to Ada's campaign is clearly a lack of creativity, it also cuts a boss from the main canon, a cut, no matter how good it is, is still that, a cut, They have to see very well the material that is made or sold to them, not to consume or accept anything for the simple fact of making a graphic leap, could it be better? It could have been, despite that the game is acceptable but if it were in the hands of Shinji Mikami, the original author, the game would take a different course and Ada's campaign would have new and innovative bosses, even U3 would receive a brutal redesign, but let's leave it at that there. RE7 and Village were so inspired by RE4 that I thought that the new team would have the goal of crushing the original and innovating in more things that differentiate it from the last RE, but it was not like that, it was a very high bar and they said so themselves but to be a new version it is not so bad, it has its shortcomings and things that can be criticized but that is the least of it they did it well and this time they moderated with the cuts unlike RE3
The problem is that RE4 was never a game that needed a remake. In fact, I'll go as far as to say that most games don't really need remakes and just need ports to modern systems. While there are some things I like in RE4 Remake and there are things I wish I could bring over into the original, it does not replace the original for me. The original had this b-movie campness to it that is practically gone in this remake. As Yathzee said, they turned the campy/serious knob a couple notches towards serious, but a part of what made RE4 so memorable was how little it cared for the seriousness in it's story. It played everything up. The funny thing is, for how serious this story's game tries to be, I noticed one major plothole in this remake that is not in the original; The second Verdugo, what happened to him? In the original, he was fused with Salazar during his bossfight, it was something you actually saw, but in the remake he's just gone, he's not seen anywhere again after Salazar has Ashley drink that dark liquid.
I disagree completely. The shooting gallery oozes charm. The dog assist on the El gigante fight is 1000% better here. Leon is a one liner machine. It has charm
@Cat Having Fun I have. And don't get me wrong I love all the stupid cheesy dialogue also. With saddler and Salazar giving you phone calls even though it's completely fucking ridiculous. But this easily stands alongside OG for me. Debating which one is better or worse is stupid when they're both so high quality and have their own unique aspects.
@Cat Having Fun I played the original expecting, and tbh i still feel like the remakes is way better in every aspect, also u can't mute the music sometimes
When its beat for beat for the most part in the cutscenes the OG is filmed wayyy better. Mendez's monster form reveal is much more impactful. In the remake its shot so boring. They also cut a lot of content for the OG. Also revealing Wesker doesn't make any sense because they didn't remake the 1st one. Don't come to me about playing the Original remake. These new players bitch about OG RE4's "tank" movements. They wouldn't play the first one for the fixed camera . I mean they need yellow paint and tape everywhere to know things are interactive . These remakes are deeply flawed because they expect the player, many of which never played an RE game until RE2R, to already have a connection to the characters and plot.
The problem is not them, the proble lies on your inability to play the 2 versions of the first game, and Wesker in the first game was never revealed to have survived, that reveal was in Code Veronica, that’s like complaining about movie sequels that don’t make sense to you just because you just decided to skip the first because it didn’t appeal to you
from my critique is that cutscene from re 4 remake is a lack of tension. Too much fast paced and les of suspension moment, also the sfx or the bgm music is not as good as the original.
Man i know these old sequences to the tip of my fingers I feel like the old ones had that "cinema" thing way more, just like a real movie I love the remake tho
lol I feel the opposite; the old ones seem campy and poorly written now, after playing the new game. I'm constantly thinking, "people don't talk or act like that IRL" while watching the old ones.
@@billmint8122 that's what I tell, discussions in most movies doesn't sound real at all, just like the og cutscenes(movies aren't documentaries), im just telling it uses more the cinema language like cliches or several camera angles, just compare the church cutscenes, the old one has way more tropes. @@Indigo_1001 it uses way more the cinema language, even if the new ones looks indeed way better, there's a way more tropes (look what I just told in my last comment)
It's a shame that many moments were simply cut out, for example, the puzzle with the redirection of the river flow in the village, the second battle with el giant and the gorge, they also cut out the location with funiculars, and maybe something else, the game just flies too fast forward, I got to the castle for 5 hours of playing, despite the fact that I tried not to miss additional tasks and treasures, it's a shame ..
Dude the original, takes less than 5 hours, it takes only 2 to 3 hours to get to the castle, the remake had more puzzles and had to collect key items with boat section you have to ride it and get to different sections, the original has only 1 optional cave, you just have direction to go other side of the island and it keeps moving forward
@@MaxBraver555 And how can you justify the cut boss fight with U3, the puzzle with pictures in the castle, the puzzle where you need to shoot the bottle in the picture, the puzzle for Ashley where you had to solve the puzzle, also the location in the dungeon in the castle became shorter. The location with the mine also takes less time. And at the expense of the village, if you do a speedrun, then in the original 2-3 hours, in the remake I looked for all the secrets and completed all the additional quests and it took 5 hours. They certainly added something new, but they cut out a lot more. And I am silent about the meaningless changes in the cult cutscenes, with the knife thrown at Salazar, the death of Luis, etc.
@@g-force3750 there are new puzzles, like way more puzzle and gathering of key item in the remake than the original, it's not necessarily cut out, it got replaced by totally different that U3 could still make it to Ada scenario, the castle felt very long even without it, heck the mines got expanded. Ashley's section has literally more puzzle than the original, like using the lamp and ringing the bell, it's more of an evironmental puzzle rather than literal puzzle, some things in the remake are more like secrets requiring Ashley's help which remake did more than the original
@@g-force3750Bro, literally none of those things you just mentioned actually added ANYTHING to the original experience. Are you REALLY complaining about them removing you shooting the bottle in the painting? Seriously? You need to understand that just because it was in thr original game, it doesn't mean that it's good. Also, RE4 remake has a different direction and tone than the original, you can't seriously expect them to keep every single thing. If you played the remake, you'll quickly realize that the things that were cut out were replaced by things that were way better.
classic > remake u can feel a better direction in so many more scenes than the new one even praising visuals doesn't mean much when they'll get dated too in time ( a year) even voicing is better in classic, Capcom doesn't use unionized VA workers and it shows a big fault u can see goes to the cut lines, so much is toned down to the point of boring, they keep the quips without the understanding of delivery (in most cases) and cause of the rushed cutscene nature, nothing sticks enough to be memorable also doesn't show transformations fully anymore, always cutaways, how did tech near 20 years ago do better here with less, really shows the over confidence of modern games where the branding is strong no matter what so much is watered down and its sad the over praise it gets cause branding
Considering Knifes Break and Ammo count is lower, I think it is better that Krauser only has 2 sections of Knife Fights before the transformation instead of five.

I would rather just enjoy/ignore the remake rather than having the "Back in my days" kind of talk;
Best thing as far as Remake is concerned is the changes in the story and well improved gameplay mechanics. But i can say still i fear to play original more than Remake. There are certain reasons for it. Story: Base of the story is same in both, however, there is some priorities given to certain characters and nerfed some characters in remake. For instance, Ashley is more smarter in remake than original which makes players more relaxed, Luis character was given extraordinary preference, his death was so emotional in remake, than original, this is where remake scores lot. Ada in main game doesn't made an impact, but Separate ways, it was huge thumbs up. In original there will be more connective conversation between Saddler and Leon, it was cut, also in original, Ada and Krauser will have secret dealing, in remake it was also cut. Salazar's appearance in Original was extraordinary, but i didn't like the appearance in remake, that was disappointment. Also good thing is some certain things missing in original like Gondola, Laser room & U3 boss were included in SW remake. Last but not least, the Novistador insects were prioritize more scenes in remake than original. It comes along with saddler in climax both main game and separate ways. Gameplay: Gameplay mechanics was much improved and best than original. Especially Parrying system, though it sounds fun, like parrying against chainsaw doods, it was so nice. Storage system and merchant requests was nice addition. Only disappointment is no PRL laser, it should've been added, also nerfing Handcannon and Chicago sweeper is big disappointment. Other than this, overall everything nice in remake.
Abit off track but RE4R give you more helping hand interms of level design comapared to Re4 Example In twin gigante fight luis help you distract it in RE4 you are alone In fish stage the watre visual help you to predict the fish location . In original its harder because the water wont help you much only the rope Yeah litelary the most anoying boss "IT" got removed and aded to saperate ways wich is DLC you need to pay. But i digress avareg new generation player cant micro manage bulet and need knife nerf in orfer to be it realistic Yeah this is kinda no brainer you can pary an attack. But im hapy i can shoot while walk then buff the zombie to realy sprint hard its kinda balance it. Verdugo freezing mechanishm still the same altough its less hard because its autisticly predictable

@@andreww8055Yeah i was very disappointed that we couldn't see Mendez transforming. I really don't understand that change.
In the original, he was fused with Salazar during his bossfight, it was something you actually saw, but in the remake he's just gone, he's not seen anywhere again after Salazar has Ashley drink that dark liquid.
lol 47:50 I love how the player knife-kills that one Ganado to prevent him from transforming and yet it still does.
the original has way better dialogue than the remake.

1:40:22 i always thought in the og, it was ridiculous that no one noticed an helicopter behind them 😂😂😂
A quality remake, but also a quality remake of the "modern" age. It's 90% there, but utterly lacking in the charm.
@@nolanlehman6392 Lmaooo horrible take
@@greatestnitemare6626 If it was actually horrible you would've given a shred of evidence. Instead you gave uhhh fucking nothing lmao
Bruh
@@evilfiles2003 St8 up Facts. Cope

Same, lol
I just realized that OG Saddler looks like Richardson from Yakuza 3.
"If you're looking for Ashley, Ramon's taken her up to the ruff."
Honestly I've always felt like Richardson looks like a walmart version of Wesker
Yeah and the Remake Saddler just looks like Ralph Fiennes. ^^
I like the original more tbh. But the remake definitely has the better gameplay.
from my critique is that cutscene from re 4 remake is a lack of tension.
Too much fast paced and les of suspension moment, also the sfx or the bgm music is not as good as the original.
Man i know these old sequences to the tip of my fingers
I feel like the old ones had that "cinema" thing way more, just like a real movie
I love the remake tho
lol I feel the opposite; the old ones seem campy and poorly written now, after playing the new game. I'm constantly thinking, "people don't talk or act like that IRL" while watching the old ones.
What?
The new remake legit feels like a movie, while the OG very much feels like video game cutscenes

The virgin Remake Vs The Chad Original.
In original Ashley looks and voiced very cute 🥰
yes thank you OG is good
remake is 🔥 sticks to the original but has its own charm
W validation. But don't forget they cut alot from RE2R. RE3R. Now ofc they gonna cut this a crap ton, hopefully not RE5R
One more thing the remake did right, HAVING A PLATINUM TROPHY FOR THE FIRST TIME.

classic > remake
u can feel a better direction in so many more scenes than the new one
even praising visuals doesn't mean much when they'll get dated too in time ( a year)
even voicing is better in classic, Capcom doesn't use unionized VA workers and it shows
a big fault u can see goes to the cut lines, so much is toned down to the point of boring, they keep the quips without the understanding of delivery (in most cases) and cause of the rushed cutscene nature, nothing sticks enough to be memorable
also doesn't show transformations fully anymore, always cutaways, how did tech near 20 years ago do better here with less, really shows the over confidence of modern games where the branding is strong no matter what
so much is watered down and its sad the over praise it gets cause branding
Wait, is Osmund Sadler also Jarl Balgruff from Skyrim?
that voice so familiar, I also think the same haha
The entire section with Krauser felt really rushed in the remake not gonna lie.
Considering Knifes Break and Ammo count is lower, I think it is better that Krauser only has 2 sections of Knife Fights before the transformation instead of five.
44:56 Never noticed that they sound muffled there despite being in front of Leon out in the open lol
I'm just gonna drink some tea and enjoy the remake.~ All of you are trying so hard to "it could've been better" and "what ifs". I was worried about the remake not being faithful to the source but it seems I was wrong and this was even better considering it could've been worse than RE3 Remake.
Nuff said, All of these opinions don't matter anymore. It didn't save the RE3 Remake, nor any remake that everyone got complaining. I know this era is where videogames are being remade rather than continuing the storyline, but it isn't new.
I would rather just enjoy/ignore the remake rather than having the "Back in my days" kind of talk;

Remake Salazar was based on Ronald McDonald?
I liked the original ones better
Best thing as far as Remake is concerned is the changes in the story and well improved gameplay mechanics. But i can say still i fear to play original more than Remake. There are certain reasons for it.
Story:
Base of the story is same in both, however, there is some priorities given to certain characters and nerfed some characters in remake.
Gameplay:
Gameplay mechanics was much improved and best than original.
El Gigante introduction in the remake is very lazy. Mendez and Salazar transformations too.
Resident Evil 4 Remake is my second favourite game
I picked a 2005 game called Resident Evil 4! 😛😜
Abit off track but RE4R give you more helping hand interms of level design comapared to Re4
Example
In twin gigante fight luis help you distract it in RE4 you are alone
In fish stage the watre visual help you to predict the fish location . In original its harder because the water wont help you much only the rope
Yeah litelary the most anoying boss "IT" got removed and aded to saperate ways wich is DLC you need to pay. But i digress avareg new generation player cant micro manage bulet and need knife nerf in orfer to be it realistic
Yeah this is kinda no brainer you can pary an attack. But im hapy i can shoot while walk then buff the zombie to realy sprint hard its kinda balance it.
Verdugo freezing mechanishm still the same altough its less hard because its autisticly predictable
You missed a cutscene from the original.
The one where Leon staples Ramon’s to a wall, with a knife.
Love them both, but the remake is definitely better. I destroyed the original and Im gonna play it again eventually, but the remake is insane, I just beat it today.

Please don't compare the Legendary RE4 with its remake that has nothing to do with the original. Remake is great in its own premise, original is the greatest game ever made.
