    Finally, a video showing a genuine flat felled seam! Thank you, it was concise and had an excellent pace.

    This seam is beautiful and looks wonderful on my new outdoor kitchen counter cover!
    Thank you so much for making these detailed instructions - They were instrumental in helping me make an outdoor kitchen counter cover. I bought and used your basting tape and I can't stop talking about HOW WONDERFUL this worked. The double stick tape was strong and flexible to move the fabric again if it needed to be readjusted. The tape was strong and I didn't need to pin anything; definitely made the project go faster. This video and the one about the Furniture cover was on my pc during my sewing sessions so i could refer back to it several times. I now have that seam process down and love the look. I couldn't have done this project without you! Thanks team.

    Great video, my only complaint is that the inside and outside are identical, contrasting colors would have helped me understand what I needed to do

    we love your videos and all your products very much, and have learned so much from them!
    we repair and sew sails, cushions for sofas for all types of boats. Unfortunately, we cannot trade as much of you as we would like, because Sweden together with the EU wants to punish the US with high import taxes.
    we will be sailing to the Caribbean next year so we can start trading again.

      Thanks for your kind comment. Sorry to hear about the high import taxes. Have a safe and fun sailing trip to the Caribbean and looking forward to doing business with you soon. Thanks!!!

    These videos are so helpful. One thing I hope you do a video on which is still causing me a lot of trouble is how to go over a thick, felled, seam with another felled seam. For example hemming a cuff over a felled seam. On standard feed machines I would use a hump jumper but I can’t figure it out on a walking foot. Every time once the foot is atop the intersection, it stops feeding the fabric. This is killing me!

      If a walking foot sewing machine stops feeding over a large bump I typically stop sewing and then rotate the balance wheel by hand until the needle is out of the fabric. Then I lift my presser foot and push the fabric assembly past the bump slightly.Then lower the presser foot and rotate the balance wheel by hand to see if it will now feed. If it does then I operate the foot pedal and continue to sew. I hope this helps.

      @@SailriteDIYthank you so much for this. I’m about to make myself a raincoat and was worried about ripping the fabric.

    You have such great informational videos, and I really appreciate all the work you have put into them. I am just a normal person sewing stuff for the family. My sister now wants me to recover her cushions in her camper van and these videos are really helpful. I am wondering how an average household machine would do with all that double sided tape in one seam? AND Thanks for the fabric Calculator! That is so awesome. I can only dream of having such a machine.....all the Ultrafeed machines look so awesome.

      When building cushions you do not want to sew through the double sided tape, if you do the glue will show up when you turn the cushion right-side out. That is why we always use the seamstick basting tape for canvas and upholstery that is 1/4 inch wide. Here is a link: www.sailrite.com/Seamstick-1-4-Basting-Tape-for-Canvas-Upholstery-36-Yards

    Do you need seam sealer for total waterproofness, or is the flat felled seam enough in itself?

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  8 місяців тому

      The full flat felled seam results in a seam that is almost waterproof, but could not be considered "total" waterproofnes, because you still have needle holes. You may still need a seam sealer, but chances are you will not.

    How do you sew a flat felled seam in a curve? Moving the fabric over assumes a straight line.

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  Рік тому

      It is possible, you just follow the curve when sewing the top stitches.
