Oh I love & needed this tonight! I can’t afford to rent my home anymore so next Spring I’ll be buying this model & have been looking for a video that shows how you live in it! I’d envisioned it just like this, but I’ll be boon docking most of the time, so I’ll invest in at least 2000 W of solar, all portable. I’d also like to swap out for a composting toilet. I lived in a 31’ from 2000-2002, but it was more for fun than a have to thing & it was 31’. You calmed my nerves! Thank you! 🙏🏻 💗
Thank you for sharing real life scenarios not just glorifying too. Very helpful. Getting ready to shift to this life due to have toos. I appreciate content like this. Maybe ill see you on the road one day.
We have a 29’ Class C Tioga 1998. Has only 50k miles. I learned too much stuff creates stress and for us so its best to have many things that serve more than one purpose. All the clutter drives travelers nuts. Labeling bins is also a good thing for upper cabinets. We may take out the dinette as its so awkward reaching over it. A smaller articulating table and two chairs would be better in our case. We only travel as a couple and mainly cook and eat outside so no need to have a set up for more. You’ll find some things like the black tank and some gauges are always off and you just learn to work around them. Dealing with a black tank is gross, not all dump stations are that great and hoses get holes in them and having to have a weight is just another thing to buy and store. I think we will get a composting toilet and just deal with grey water. It’s all personal preference and a short learning curve but we really enjoy “camping”.
After years of RVing, I can tell you that the black tank sensor is never correct. The tank can be totally empty, but if there's a bit of toilet paper hung up on a sensor, it's going give an incorrect reading. Don't worry about it.
@@part-timephilosopherLolthe sensor could be reading right above where the poop drops in. Many call it a “poo pyramid”. We solved this issue at the dump stations by draining the black tank then AFTER rinsing it with our gray water we drop into the toilet a cup or two of borax and 2 gallons of water before we leave the dump station. While driving the borax water loosens the pyramid as it sloshes around the tank. You can dump the tank again of the few gallons at the next dump station area or at the next campground. Works pretty well for us. 😊. Good luck.
This is awesome. I'm getting a lot of good tips from this video. I'm buying a Thor 28A from Cruise America and this helps gives me a heads up for what to expect with the RV. Thanks a ton! : )
@@doppleganger7591 Overall it went well. I had to seal some openings underneath the RV with expanding foam because mice will get inside the RV. It's a common problem with RV'ing. Also, have them opening up under the bed to check the fresh water tank. Mine had gotten mold growing in the feed line. It made the water unpotable. Other than that it was a good buy. There's a steep learning curve with RV'ing. You will be doing a lot of do it yourself fixing of things. Good luck.
Very nice video. My wife and I might be purchasing a Thor 23A from Cruise America sometime soon. If I understand correctly, the Cruise Canada RV's have no generator, while the American versions do. The generator would give you power for the outlets. Pretty dog, too! Thanks for sharing. - Rick
Loved the video!! I'm saving up to buy one of the CA rvs w/cash. Before I buy, I'll hire an NRVTA certified inspector to inspect it and will use the results to help negotiate a good price. After I buy it, I'll head to TX and take NRVTA courses to become certified as a Tech and an Inspector. There's a huge demand for both so I'll be able to make decent $$ in my travels.😊
That sounds like a great idea I’ve been looking at the training course as well since I’m having such a difficult time to get it properly serviced. I found that many of the service outlets only service the customers who bought through them! That is a great idea for making money on the road!!
I just rewatched the video. An advantage of becoming an NRVTA tech is the ability to get tech work at campgrounds as long as you get the campground management's approval.
Yes actually. I would ask if the transmission has been done yet. I purchased mine with 142,000 km and by 147,000 transmission blew. It cost $6400. Of note Ford only guarantees their new transmissions for 160,000 km. I would keep this in mind moving forward.
Yes. I would say watch out for the transmission on this particular model. I believe it is a Ford engine and transmission.. I had only driven approximately 5000 km with this RV before by transmission died. I was at approximately 150,000 km at the time. And guess what? The guarantee for the newly installed Ford transmission is 160,000 km or at least that is what they offered me at the time. Kind of sad that Ford would only offer that much on a real transmission so I had to spend an extra $6000 do you have my transmission rebuilt. What I mean to say is ask them about the kilometres and if the transmission has been done. Then maybe try to get the status of it evaluated before you close on the sale. But who knows maybe that is why they sell them off in the range of 140,000 to 160,000 km
Hi I'm about to pull the trigger on one too! Did you get the warranty? How many miles/kilometers did it have it on it? What else you wish you would've looked at more closely before driving it home?
For me fortunately it was just simple little things like the thermostat didn’t work properly the heat at that time was either on or off and the thermostat would think it was over 80 Fahrenheit one meanwhile it was quite chilly inside so they gave me a new thermostat but that was something I had to figure out wasn’t working. Also the locks for the underneath storage were seized they should’ve been replaced so I would just check to make sure that they lock easily and unlock and that the little levers that also secure it work properly. The sewage tank always registers as full I did go through the whole process of cleaning the sensors and it was a lot of work and a lot of dancing and moving the RV around filling the tank and rinsing it out using enzymes RV DIGEST IT from Amazon. But the tank still registered as for the very next time it seems to be that RV black tanks so just a poor design in terms of the sensors. I don’t use any toilet paper so it’s definitely not that and I use enzymes or septic bacteria every time I empty I add more.
Just backed out of my CA purchase today Seems all they do is paint them to hide and imperfections. More or less a "polished turd" Painting them hides imperfections & subpar repairs performed to the coach during its service life. They have no actual tech work on these,. The are essentially low wage lube techs who can change oil and that about it. The inside of the coach is was going to by had about 20 things missed during "THEIR EXTENSIVE 110 point inspection" including a leaky gray water tank, broken window, dangling connectors, and rips in the upholstery, bottom of closet falling out, numerous missing screws for windows & trim, crack in the shower pan.............. "refurbished" is not what they do. Seems highly deceptive to buyers who do not know what to look for and DO NOT have the time to inspect every thing, because they are trusting that Cruise America is doing this for them.... VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY EXPERIENCE AT CRUISE AMERICA SALES BUYER BEWARE!!! DO YOUR HOME WORK LOOK OVER THROUGH COME BACK MULTIPLE TIMES & GET A PRO INSPECTION
We just bought a2013 no manual we are slowly learning . It is in excellent condition. Want to install a tv we are seniors we like our bedtime tv . I have ordered one I do see a cable hookup but who used a cable today. I hope I can do it. The speakers a above the bed is that from the radio in the front cab? Anyone know .
Spent two winters in BC but this year staying in Ontario caring for aging relatives. My plan was RV in winter, live at my off grid cabin spring to fall. Still loving my cabin 💕
Thank you for your review. I'm interested in the same RV. This helps to see how someone has it set up and really using it.

Love the round light that you can pull to switch on/off ❤
You can charge a phone using the cab charger even when the truck is off.
I have the same rv. Got to put up solar.
awesome, thanks for your comment. what kind of system did you put up?

Awesome that’s great 😃
I’m getting one also.
How did it end up going with the rv? I’m currently considering purchasing the same model from cruise America but am hesitant

Yes I wondered why we didn’t have that option in Canada ...
@@part-timephilosopherLol Probably some silly environmental rule.
@@twinbrookacres lol likely
Just to clarify only the 30 in Canada has a generator

i got my rv from Bolton Ont CA i find they do not have generators so i put 3 extra batteries in that space and now have 400 amp hrs
That’s a great idea!
Your so lucky to live in a rv no stress at all
Great tips, but show a wide view of the RV first before going in on different areas.
Thanks for that feedback :)
Great tips
Awesome video thank you. Is insurance expensive?
I think it depends where you are. In British Columbia they insured me for a value of 42,000 and it is about $95 per month.
Ours is $400 per year.
I’m thinking of buying the exact same one. Do you have any suggestions on things to know or look out for? Thank you

Have you had any problem due to high mileage on their used sales. That is the one thing that I worry about. They all ate around 100,000 miles.

I think over time you will learn that you have way more stuff than you need.
