Thank you for reacting to Golden Child. So the concept of Feel Me is Youth. So to me from watching the MV many times to me the MV storyline portrays what a youth would be or might be experiencing. Like as we will be having brighter days, but we also might experience darker days. Such as peer pressure, depression, and death. The scene where Daeyeol is lying down between tape shaped as a person, and even Daeyeol has confirmed that he died in the MV. I also am suspecting both Bomin the gentleman in the blue shirt and having shaving cream in face and TAG the guy with pink hair have also died in the MV. I applaud whoever decision it was to have Jaehyun crying in tears at the end before ending with Feel Me. Two of my favorite scenes in the MV is when Bomin back hugs Daeyeol with the white and black striped long sleeve shirt, and when Seungmin the gentleman with the orange hair and Tag hugging Daeyeol as they are happily welcoming their Leader back from finally being discharged from Daeyeol’s Military Enlistment. I love love Golden Child, and I love love Feel Me, and their whole 3rd Single Album. I am looking forward to more Golden Child. Golden Child MVs are so much fun to watch because they are like I am watching a movie that sometimes I forget I am watching an actual MV.
Ahhh thank you so much for this comment! This adds so much meaning to the MV -- I feel now I was only barely touching the surface the first time I watched it. This MV seems like one that would give more and more each time you watch it. I am definitely inspired to go back and check out more Golden Child!
oooh i'm glad you reacted to this bc i haven't seen it before, and it's beautiful! i'm really struck by those camcorder and such filters being used pretty sparingly, almost as an accent to add a bit of texture, because so much of the happy memories + anxious present moments are blended seamlessly in the visual storytelling - like from that first scene where the friends remembered just run into the shot. and it's such a poignant way to show that, right now, the pain of loss is indistinguishable from the happiness that came before. or maybe even that the pain would not exist without that happiness, because losing it is what hurts so much. (i know nothing about golden child but i definitely need to check them out too!)
Yes, exactly!! I feel like this video is very much about the necessary commingling of loss & love, of the bittersweetness of impermanence. Which is quite the introduction to Golden Child! I'm very curious to see how/whether this theme unfolds from their previous discography!
I came across this video and sorry for the long comment but I love Golden Child's music branding. They come from Woollim a company who highlights the idea that music should awaken emotions, their motto is "true music, true emotion" and out of all their groups they had golden child fulfilling this theme very well. Their music usually mirrors their reality, surroundings, real life topics. Feel me reminds me of those coming of age videos, closing chapters but with a hint of hope for what's to come, this align very well with their present/future. Their contracts are ending and contract renewal are coming so I believe this was an ode to youth. (I don't know if I might be reading too much but because it was released the same year a dear idol passed away I think they also made a bit of reference to that). Some things that appear in the video and are real life Golden Child: • Member in stripes suddenly appears is because he came back from military • The one shaving is the maknae Bomin, I think it symbolizes his growth because he was very young when he debuted and the member he was paired in this story line is the oldest and thwy were called madmak! When he d*es in the MV it's Jangjun the other oldest member taking care of him. • The one with the violin is Joochan, he's the one who played in Paganini in Road to Kingdom and then they got eliminated. That's why he's shown practicing in the video and it literally break my heart seeing him break his violin because after the elimination it took a tool on all of them but especially on him bc he believed it was his fault as he was the main character. Overall, Golcha has music full of heart and soul so I definitely recommend them! One big recommendation is their self discovery trilogy and it has beautiful made videos, it came after the year long hiatus after a member was injured and they waited for him as he recovered from surgery. After that the company decided to do a rebranding and they were old enough to try more mature concepts. The trilogy is about their ambition and desire to become their ideal self, second part is their struggle, and third is finally coming out of that nightmare (that was road to kingdom for them!) Sorry for the long comment!
