Florida did not garner enough credit for winning that '94 East Regional and I think alot of it had to do with the fact North Carolina and Indiana had already been eliminated! But that's not how Florida should have been judged! They more than proved they belonged deep in that tournament by taking out the best UConn team that didn't win a national championship during Jim Calhoun's tenure! Gators were mighty impressive in that victory and eventually gave Duke all they could handle at the FF! Ashame that Gator club was overlooked and in my opinion still is to this day!
I agree 100% there brother. Florida squeaked by James Madison, but beat a very solid Penn team, and beat the Uconn team you mentioned and then beat this cinderella team.
@@troyingramtroy123 right on and that's why I mentioned about them being overlooked even when it comes to Gator lore itself! Alot of the key guys on that team had been through the progression with Kruger as coach when they surprisingly out of nowhere made a run to the 1992 FF of the NIT before losing to Notre Dame after having been picked near the bottom of the SEC! So I believe that postseason experience was critical in their growth
@@bradlewis6514 Yes I wasn't born yet but I always look at Former Florida teams from back in the day and a couple of years ago I found out they had a final four run in 94 with basically players that were written off that was a very underrated run by Florida and I didn't know they made the NIT final four that is great as well which was very uncommon for Florida at that particular time.
Best game ever. DeClerq played all out, swatting out the last steal, drawing the charge, the great chase down & Brown's 3-3s, block and rebound in 3 consecutive possessions and on D. All these Gators played at a level never seen b4 at UF. I was there, we beat UConn & refs on sweet 16...
