I stumbled upon this video by chance, but I'm glad I did. It was interesting to listen to your insight mr. Ogre. I mainly enjoy listening to progressive and alternative metal, hence I like hearing unusual instruments, like the saxophone in 9:30. As you pointed out it contradicts these heavy sounds of metal genre, and that's why, in my opinion, when it's used correctly it can actually elevate them to another level.
I would love to hear your thoughts on bands like Satellite (especially Nostalgia album) Riverside, Arena, Marillion or something more known like In Flames, Children of Bodom, Dream Theater or Tool. Now though I'm going to broaden my musical horizons by binging your other videos :) Cheers!

Thanks for looking in! You are absolutely right about throwing something different into the mix to enhance an artist's sound. I had a quick listen to the Satellite Nostalgia album, it didn't grab me I'm afraid but I am going to pick one of the others and do a blind reaction to them. Hopefully, I will be surprised.

@@theogre57 No worries, thanks for checking! I pointed out the nostalgia album just because the way the band plays with different sounds and uses unorthodox methods (especially the drums player). I thought that it might come as an interesting find that's totally different.
Can't wait on your thoughts about heavy sounds of Children of Bodom - follow the reaper!

@@GargomanPL I've not listened to CoB for about 25 years! I'll give it a go. By the way, you might like the new Hail Spirit Noir album - Fossil Gardens - It has oodles of the psychedelic and more than a hint of Prog about it.

@@theogre57 I just listened to this whole album and while at the beggining I wasn't sure about it I ended up really enjoying it. The blue dot and Curse you-Entropia were definitely my favourite tracks - the latter reminds me of something but I can't remind myself what was it. Ludwig in Orbit also caught me off guard haha! Listening to this album reminded me of the existence of the band called Dark Tranquility and their Atoma album, which has a similar vibe but is way cleaner, softer, less ambient-y and has more clean vocals. Glad I gave it a go ^^

@@GargomanPL For me, it is an album for a certain mood and when I'm in that mood it certainly scratches the itch.
